  1. just wanted to update, the software comes with a cd-key, but the e-files are tied to the key, nothing else.
  2. i just chatted with an online rep from h and r block. he stated you can install and re-install the software without losing any e-files and he said one could do anyone's taxes, they do not care who, and they will still be allowed to use the free e-files. i suppose it is not a solid answer as i have yet to find out about the cd key, but i suppose it looks promising. i will update some more when i have more information. as for audits, i have only had one problem ever with my taxes and that was when i used turbo tax, but in all honesty, i should have seen the problem. i will not get into all the public relations problems turbo tax has had with drm, pricing and the most recent debacle which forced them into lowering the price and offering more...it speaks for itself.
  3. i will pick up my order sometime in the next few days, so i will see if there is a required key. i probably should have waited a little longer but it was a fair deal at best buy with a free dvd, up to 19.99 in value. i picked up season six of 24 which was on sale for.....19.99
  4. hello all, not sure if this fits here, but after i am done with my tax cut software, can i resell it and will the buyer have the functionality that i did? i notice it comes with 5 free e-files, but i would only be using one. do they track this via install? product number? i would not want to leave someone hanging. thanks.
  5. thanks, i picked up the hoodie....and a nalgene bottle. rei is great stuff.
  6. i got the ram on wednesday and put it right in. everything is working great right now (not that it wasn't before), although i am still in the process of installing all of my applicationss and utilities. i plan on running some memory test programs on the ram some time over this weekend, but as i stated before, corsair is a quality product and i have not had any problems in the past. this is my first experience with their value select ram however, from all my research there such be no problem. i did note that the ram did increase in price since the weekend, so i do not know what to tell you there, but they often run weekend sales so maybe it will go down. good luck and let me know if you need anything else.
  7. this is what i purchased over the weekend: link to the website newegg.com. it was 2 512mb sticks of corsair value select pc2700 for 87.14. i choose the 7.40 shipping for a total of 94.54. now, i am not certain, as i paid with my preferred account, but i was offered a free year of pc magazine with this offer. i delcined, but was able to apply for a reabte of equal value (19.77). so that would pretty much be the ram shipped for 75.00 after all is said and done. however, i as i said earlier, i not sure if everyone is able to get the magazine/rebate offer. it did not appear until the screen to submit my order came up. there was no mention of it that i could see. i have always used corsair brands, although for my desktop i use the premium brands as i overclock. they have never given me any problem and they have a lifetime warranty directly through them. good luck.
  8. while i agree that there should have been more, there were also 15 at the other wal mart in town. i think the number is based on a formula of store size + proximity to other stores + population in the area. at least that is what it seems like to me. i am sorry you did not get your laptop.
  9. got my laptop from wal mart. first in line. they only had 14, but the line was at least 40-50 deep. even after they marked the first 14 with marks on our hands and told the remaining people they only had 14, everyone stayed. not only that, but more people came and stayed in line. it was a little strange. there were also a ton of shady people trying to get to the front. the whole experience was cool and i met some really nice people, but after my purchase getting out of the store was insane. i was almost run over a dozen times. anyway, good luck to all out there. time for sleep. RossMAN i was acutally in line at about 12.30 or so, i guess i should say formed the line. i was planning on going around 2.00 or 2.30, but i glad i didn't i probably would not have made it. i am located in state college, PA. it was a super center that did not close. there is another super center on the other end of town. i would like to add that i was impressed with the way wal mart handled everything, even with the little issues (read below) it was a very positive experience, and all the employees were nice, laughing and in a generally great mood. it almost seemed as if they were suprised by the whole waiting in line thing. here is a more detailed post form another fourm i belong too: well, got my laptop. i ended up going to wal mart around midnight. did some food shopping, packed it in my car and just camped out in the sporting goods checkout (where the laptops would be sold.) i was first in line and ended up meeting some real nice people. it did get a little freaky though. i knew on tuesday that they were only getting 14, so that is why i went so early. well, that and i am anal/OCD. i didn't want to miss out. anyway, by about 3.15 there were about 20-25 people in line. some of the wal mart employees were telling everyone there were only 14 and they wouldn't get them if they were not the first 14 people in line. no one left. more people came. again, they told everyone. no one left. more people came. then people started wandering towards the front and two guys in particular were being really shady. some words were exchanged between myself, them, and then later the group of people behind me (two of which were really nice employess from wal mart who waited just like everyone else to get laptops, while they were off from work, and one was the manager who actually clued me in to all the info on tuesday) they moved in about 4-5 employees and the riff raff moved on. that is when they decided to mark the first 14 people in line with marks on our hands. anyway, by the time 5.00 came there must have been over 50 people in the laptop line. i didn't get why they were staying. overall, it was a great experience, met some people, and really got along with the wal mart employees in line. they just told some great stories and stuff about wal mart. i will say that once i left the area where i purchased the laptop (mind you at 5.08 or so) i was scared as hell. there were people with carts whizzing to the left, to the right, right at me. running to check out. running leaving the store. now i know why i never went shopping on this day before. sorry for the book, i am just delerious with tired. anyway, good luck to all still out there and i hope everyone was lucky enough to get what they wanted and have as good an experience as i had.
  10. whoa. i understand your reasoning, that is cool.....but, jerk take laptop, come on. no need for that. i'll see you there.
  11. in state college? north atherton? not going to affect me in any way, would just be cool to know since we are both on the site. good luck
  12. i know there are many threads which have comments regarding when are you going, what item...etc...but if i am going to a wal mart supercenter that is not closing and has 14 laptops, what time should i be heading out there? i was looking to head out around mid night, but i have no idea how many people will be there only for the laptop. i am in state college, PA. there are two wal marts on seperate ends of town, each being a supercenter. i have not found out how many the other store has. i am hoping that it won't be too crowded so early, being most if not all students are out of town for thanksgiving. any final thoughts before i get in the shower and ready to go? any help would be appreciated.
