Brad Posted November 19, 2005 Posted November 19, 2005 For those who noticed, yes those are Yahoo ads on the BF site and here in the BF forum. They are shown: - on the BF site on the ad listing pages only (store or category) - on the BF forum (no other boards) after the first post of a thread, only to members with under 100 posts We're going to try them over the weekend to see how things go. Any $ we make will likely go towards hosting the BF site next year, cause it's going to be A LOT of $ to host this next year with all the press this year. We're not supposed to encourage anyone to click on the ads to support the site, so I wont do that All the ads will be gone after BF, so for those of you who are sticking around, you won't have to worry about them in a week, and if you have 100 posts, you won't see them here on the forum anyway :)
Guest general41391 Posted November 19, 2005 Posted November 19, 2005 lol...awesome!!! I have just over 100 posts so i am fine Love the site:)
sperdue Posted November 19, 2005 Posted November 19, 2005 I think it's a great idea. You definitely need $ for next year. We want you to be here!
Guest general41391 Posted November 19, 2005 Posted November 19, 2005 Yes!!! I love this site...i learned so much info and i am having a great time. money is good..hopefully no one tries to shut you down!
ebony0421 Posted November 19, 2005 Posted November 19, 2005 If having the ad is gonna bring in money to keep the site up and running for next year, do what you gotta do. :woot2:
mjmcca Posted November 19, 2005 Posted November 19, 2005 I didn't notice anything but i guess my my post count is too high. If it helps to defray the cost of hosting which i am sure is enormous then I say go for it.
kalle1212 Posted November 19, 2005 Posted November 19, 2005 I havent noticed the ads but I wouldnt care if I did. You site is the &%@#
Brad Posted November 19, 2005 Author Posted November 19, 2005 Yeah like I said in the first post, if you have 100 posts you shouldn't see them. It's mainly for all the lurkers who register to view the BF forum and never post. Most of you who have been here a while already have 100 posts, and if you don't, well then either get posting or put up with them for 6 more days :)
timbermommy Posted November 19, 2005 Posted November 19, 2005 i noticed it.. guess i gotta post post post lol
mesarobins Posted November 19, 2005 Posted November 19, 2005 I noticed them but they are not intrusive and I have no objection if it brings in a little revenue to help you guys keep this wonderful site going.
KBsDarling Posted November 19, 2005 Posted November 19, 2005 And if someone w/ over 100 posts just has the undying desire to search for something where would they get the link? *wink wink* Cant have you guys going broke when i just found ya!!
Brad Posted November 19, 2005 Author Posted November 19, 2005 And if someone w/ over 100 posts just has the undying desire to search for something where would they get the link? *wink wink* Cant have you guys going broke when i just found ya!!The ads are still shown for everyone on the BF site. Just view any of the store or category lists.
tmkuroda Posted November 19, 2005 Posted November 19, 2005 Geez! I am a long way away from 100 posts:)
KBsDarling Posted November 19, 2005 Posted November 19, 2005 Otay Brad TY i so rarely leave the forum....LOL i'm a forum hermit
mugs Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 It's a good idea to not have them appear if you have over 100 posts, but I personally would love it if all of the hits you get from me were generating ad revenue.
BLKFRI Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 At least you used Yahoo!. I hate Google. I don't trust them and won't click on anything that takes me there.
treasure60 Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 I don't mind clicking on the yahoo ads... Anything to help out and I just might find something I want.
alimfp Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 I'll be back in a minute.. gotta log out and clicky click. ETA: Dang it, I don't want to reg another name to see them.. someone *cough* right-click on an ad and *cough* give the link to me *cough* please?
Brad Posted November 20, 2005 Author Posted November 20, 2005 Ads have now been removed from the forum. The $ made with them was not worth annoying everyone, so we're just going to keep them on the BF site for now :)
