Gloey Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 Do you stow away money here and there without your s/o knowing? I try to save about $5 per day and just stash it in a section of my wallet, then when I get a large amount I'll take it out. Sometimes I spend a little, but if I am diligent, I can come up with a huge chunk for the year.
erh12275 Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 I don't do this...but I should. My dad always did this...and when I got married(we eloped but still had a big wedding) we moved the original date up by about 10 months...and my mom was worried about how she was gonna pay for it since it was going to be so soon...well my dad had over $2000 saved in his "stash".
Kandy Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 I have $$ taken out of my check each week and put into a christmas club account.
abentley Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 When I started shopping on Bf, I justified it by using all my change that I had saved on top of my dryer. I still actually use my change from the entire year, but add a lot more $$$!!!
susiejwp Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 yup!...I sure do....sometimes I buy a little something for me and other times I put it into my christmas stash and get ahead for Chrsitmas....of course then there are gift cards! ;-)
BrandyJervas Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 not usually I buy a little here and there on sale and clearance and I do a bigger layaway and then just take the extra from the paycheck right before and use whatever of that I need to.
starshine Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 I have a Christmas club the bank takes out 10 dollars a week so when the check is cut it's 520
floridasun5 Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 No, ive never done a christmas club or anything. I know ahead of time how much money I have coming in to budget for Christmas and I put everything on my credit card just to get my Discover Rewards, then just make sure to pay it off with that money that I had budgeted coming in.
sunprincess831 Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 Nopre, never really saved up for Christmas....but always wish i had!
berry Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 Love the craft shows this time of year. There was a baby sock with a purse latch attached called socking away money.
ebony0421 Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 I just cashed my Christmas Savings Club in before we moved. I also save my change all year and I am very good at not dipping in it, even though my husband hasn't mastered that yet. It is so much easier for me to try and save all year versus saving at the last minute. I am floating:2cloud9: , cause I am ready to go. :gd_shake:
cami_reardon Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 I save 10.00 per check that we get each month plus all my refunding money. Then I add the paycheck right before BF to the mix. It usually adds up to close to 1000.00 by the time all is said and done. It sure helps a lot.
eve Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 i think i'll have to start saving for next year
motoXmom Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 I've got about $450. and growing right now but that's not with my change that we save all year. That usually comes up to another couple hundred. So we should be set for BF! Then any overtime goes to Christmas too.
Jenniferharrison82 Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 wow, lots of great ideas guys..:)
brownlands Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 I always say I'm going to, but I never do. Next year.
copados1993 Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 I'm selling on Ebay this week so I can add some extra cash to my stash! I plan to be REALLY ready on BF! Look out stores, here I come!
motoXmom Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 I'm selling on Ebay this week so I can add some extra cash to my stash! I plan to be REALLY ready on BF! Look out stores, here I come! Whatcha sellin' on Ebay?
uffda Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 I save all the money in my daycare "flex benefits" account and take out a huge chunck the week before b/f. I usually have about $1500-$1700 in there.
Guest all2tired Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 I tried doing that and had quite a bit saved but then hubby started traveling alot on business and I needed the cash for expenses. I'm down to $147 which will be gone by next week. <heavy sigh>
Candy Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 Usually I hit layaway in August with all my purchases at Wal-Mart that I can possibly buy...(which has worked great with little ones..but now that they are teens it is much harder) I usually have enough for what they want..this year has been the hardest in over a decade.(age again). Getting my dh to open a Christmas CLub has bene like giving him a root canal..for some reason he resist to the end!
outnumbered Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 LOL...I have a fund...but not for Christmas.
gisellerol Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 im already up to $500 and still saving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
treasure60 Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 I wouldn't say mine is a 'secret' stash..but I do saving during the year for Christmas, also I save the money and g/cs that I get for doing surveys and from reward sites I save to give as presents or to buy presents.
WELUVKDS79 Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 I am thinking of adding 10% of our tax return to my stash so we aren't as broke during this time of year...
kalle1212 Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 We usually take money from our tax return and put it in a savings account and forget about it untill christmas time. Also being a waitress, I never cash in any change I get from tips, I save all the change in a jar. In the summer I count it to go on vacation with and in the winter I use it for christmas. Right now I have 400 in change that I need to take to the bank soon. (Its really heavy)
