Brad
None of the electronics or office stores have had their ads leaked yet, so it's too early.
TazErase
Has anyone seen any good deals on External Hard Drives this year? The ads to watch for are Best Buy,Staples, Walmart. I found Staples often has less competition and well stocked on external hard drives.

Scott
It might be tough this year to find a great deal on one due to flooding and a worldwide hard drive shortage.
AndreaInNC
staples has a 1.5tb for 89.99Anyone familiar with the brand that will be at Staples on BF? It's a Seagate. They will also have the Toshiba 1TB or 89.99 as well.
Klownicle
Target every year has done a cheap external. But keep this in mind. The hard drive shortage might affect the deals and pricing. You can get a 2tb internal at bestbuy for 79$ right now and you could buy a external case from newegg. You might end up being cheaper that way. Also, every external I have bought from target on Black Friday died a year later. The past one dieing last week with thousands of bad sectors. Just a FYI. I'm usually a big backer of WD, but every external i've had from them has done the same thing. Just my 2 cents. I'd still be buying it this year thoe :)
freesia39
I love Seagate hard drives. For a while, it was the only one I'd buy to put in my computers. (Haven't built a computer in ages, so I haven't bought one in a while.)
jade6700
We are looking for one too this year. We currently have 3 WDs and all have held up well. The oldest being 6 years old now! Yikes! Hoping to get a good deal on one but Costco typically has them year round at a decent price too.
billcsho
Unfortunately, it does not seem like to have good deals on hard drives this year. I am glad that I got a 2TB Seagate external for $55AC last week. It is interesting that the before coupon price last week is even better deal than the one on BF ad. jaymacfla
The news sources point to Black Friday as being your best bet for a cheap hard drive due to the flooding. The price structure, printed ads, and special purchases were made prior to the situation developing.
schoolboy
Thanks everyone. Yeah, I thought about the flooding being a problem. I purchased a 1TB a few years ago, and it has been great, but I'm looking for another one so I can clean off my computer and still have a back up for pics and home movies. 1.5 TB seems like a good deal if the hard drive is a good brand. The 1TB a few years ago around this time was $79. This is the one I bought then: http://www.buy.com/prod/fantom-green-drive-quad-1tb-usb-2-0-esata-firewire-400-800-external/211108356.html
jgm8
How do I know what size I need? We would like to put all photos, music and dvd's on an external drive.
shanecrow99
I would suggest a 1tb size at the minimum. Currently the best price point for an external is the 2tb drives. Last years BF deals on externals were WAY better than what I am seeing thus far. I thought for sure there would be more deals out there this year.
