aolson Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Husband thinks I am crazy because I headed to Walmart at 3 in the morning last year. My father in law waited for hours at the mall years ago when tickle me elmo first came out to get one for my son. Are there any all-nighters out there? Andrea
Guest all2tired Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Not an all nighter but I get to the store an hour to an hour and a half before it opens and I'm never 1st in line
rosegarden Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 same as all2tired. Get there an hour to an hour and half early and we're way back in line
erh12275 Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 This year we will get there about an hour early. Would love to get there earlier but it's an hour drive to get there. And we have to drop the kids off...and I am hoping to get some online shopping done the night before.
lovetheparks Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Never more than an hour early. I love my BF deals but I'm no early riser.
RossMAN Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 It really depends on the BF deals and how good of a deal it is. For instance if they have an awesome 32" LCD HDTV I'll wait 4-6 hours because I'm saving $300 on a brand new TV. I don't know about you but waiting 4 hours to save $300 seems like a good deal to me?
aolson Posted November 2, 2005 Author Posted November 2, 2005 I agree, 4 hrs is plenty worth it to save 300 dollars. In fact, if I was saving that much money on something I really wanted, that might influence me to get there the day before! Andrea
erh12275 Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 I don't know about you but waiting 4 hours to save $300 seems like a good deal to me?Well lets do the math...$300/4=$75/hr. Now I don't know alot of people that make that kind of money...and they go to work for those 4 hours anyway. So what's the difference between spending that time at work to make it or standing inline a few hours to save it? And I know you aren't guaranteed you are going to get that item...but my bet's that if you are waiting that long...it's a pretty sure thing.
Kandy Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 If the PX is opening at 3 , then I hope I will not be standing in line too long. I will head over there about 215 or so.
whafs8 Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 We are actually thinking of taking the RV. And parking overnight there they will let you stay there for free.
Guest Deals4Me Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 We are actually thinking of taking the RV. And parking overnight there they will let you stay there for free. Not all stores allow this....Bradley walmart, some people thought they were smart and did it, was funny cause police knocked on the windows told them to leave, and they made it back in time to be 50th in line.
alimfp Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 I imagine I'll be at the first store 1.5 hours early.
jordansmom1003 Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 I'll be there several hours in advance, depending on what it is I want. Actually, something I remember doing a few years ago with Walmart, go to a 24 hour walmart, they usually have the pallets there and you can go around before they open them and figure out what you're wanting, actually I think that was two years ago, and I got in and out with all of my items (my mom and friend was posted next to the pallets I wanted) in fact ppl ripped them and had already had them too, so that was another thing, but we were in line to check out 15 minutes after 6 (which was when they opened the pallets) so its always good to try that. I made out really well, got the items and didnt have to wait for very long, we just walked around and didnt have to wait out in the cold. I know I'll be waiting in line on the 21st at the best buy here for the stupid xbox 360 (*sigh* I will not be a happy camper that night) Its not like I'm saving any money on it either.
drmy91 Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Waiting essentially is all in your head. You can last a few hours for a great deal. You are done when you get home and you still have the deal. I would wait 4 hrs.
znasouri Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 What do you mean... I'm on my laptop sitting outside of Best Buy right now waiting in line already... kk... I'm gonna have dinner w/ fam, watch a movie at around 9 or 10, and go to Best Buy or CC after, so probably no more than 8 hours
aztater Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 All Nighter!! Put the turkey away and head to BB. YEAHHHH!!!
elena_398 Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 I am in line outside by 2am on BF- sometimes 1-1:30am. So I can be outside by myself from 3-41/2 hours.
ebony0421 Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 My first store is opening at 6 and I plan to be there at 2a.m. I need to be in and out and then on my way to the mall.
Guest Deals4Me Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 5 to 6 hours max...depending on the deal and if they price match. Yes, I am die hard, livefor BF AND gottadeal type!
mlmatlock Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 Usually only about an hour and a half before the store opens but if it was a good enough deal I might be there earlier.
erh12275 Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 What do you mean... I'm on my laptop sitting outside of Best Buy right now waiting in line already... kk... I'm gonna have dinner w/ fam, watch a movie at around 9 or 10, and go to Best Buy or CC after, so probably no more than 8 hours I remember people posting from the lines last year...lol.
copados1993 Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 I'd wait 3 hours...4 hours tops if it was something REALLY good!
wildtama Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 I am not sure how early we will go. I think it may well depend on the weather that night/morning. :)
cherry33778 Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 I plan to get there at midnight, b/c in my area some people are there at 10p.m. and this year I plan not to underestimate them.
aolson Posted November 3, 2005 Author Posted November 3, 2005 Yeah! Now I can show my husband I am not the only crazy one! Some men just don't understand the excitement of great deals. Andrea
elena_398 Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 I'll wait till whenever for a great deal. Its just me going out so its my time and decision as to how long. The longest I was outside in line was 6 hours. Im so glad I met and talked to a lot of nice women that year :)
kelemvor Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 Only time I went out easrly was 2 years ago when OM had a 17" (or was it 19") LCD monitor for like $170. and Best Buy had a DVD Burner for like $40. BOth were incredibly cheap at the time. Normally I just go a week or two before and then PM the day of, or just go later and see what's left.
phatlipp Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 I'm a Best Buy guy. I'll be there at least 4 hours early but probably earlier than that. Besides - it's not that cold in Wisconsin this time of year.
niclar Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 The past few years I was in line an hour early and was able to get what I went for so I think that will be good. If it wasnt so cold I would go earlier
