Had a talk with hubby, apparently the "Bah humbug" wasn't because he was leaving, it was because he felt they were doing christmas stuff way too early He took me to Kohls tonight because they had the buildings I wanted for my new christmas village. Spent almost $200 on accessories and buildings, but stipulated that I could NOT put them up until Thanksgiving... I can live with that

Courtesy of the US Air Force, hubby will be leaving for a year and heading to Korea (by himself) just after the New Year. Now, whenever a Christmas commercial comes out, or he hears a Christmas song, he exclaims "Bah Humbug"! I feel guilty because I absolutely LOVE the holiday season, and have a countdown going (a silent one, simply because I don't want it to seem like I'm counting down to when he leaves). How on earth am I going to get him in the holiday spirit?! He'll miss next Christmas, so I'm already planning on what I'm going to buy/send to him to make him feel like he's home. Anyone have suggestions?

I asked my husband what he liked getting when he was in Kuwait years ago, and he said books and magazines were a big hit along with familiar foods, etc.

My FIL is a huge American Choppers fan, so when WalMart had discounted their huge remote control choppers, we picked one up for $25 (they were going for 99). Also got him one of those Mr. Clean car wash sets (1.97 at target when they had them on clearance). We're also sending him a train ticket to come visit us since he refuses to fly... he and my MIL will be spending New Years with us!

my inlaws are putting their lights up this weekend (Upstate NY). Since we live in the "deep south" we don't have to put them up until we're ready, usually on Thanksgiving.

we're getting the 6ft snowglobe, but hubby wants the Peanuts Snowglobe that's on sale BF at Sears. We may end up buying both

we have a pre-lit that we keep non-flashing, but always end up adding some extra lights that do flash

peppermint bark and those peppermint chocolate balls by Terry (same company who makes Chocolate Oranges)... there's just something about chocolate and peppermint that tickles my tastebuds!

Our 2nd grade kiddos (3 or 4 classes) are all getting together in the auditorium and watching Polar Express. Apparently they did this last year and it was a HUGE hit! Very low key and the kids had a blast... they all came to school in their PJ's that day, given "tickets" that they had to turn in as they boarded the "train", and one of the teachers dressed up as the conductor, passed out cookies and hot chocolate. At the end of the movie, as they were all leaving, they all got a small box with a bell and ribbon in it. I'm looking forward to attending this year's party! becca

A land/sea vacation with Disney! It was actually a birthday/xmas present, and we spent 3 days at Disney World, 4 days on the Disney Wonder ship. The only "bad" thing was we did the vacation a month early (November), but both the parks and ship were decorated for Christmas, so it definitely put me in the right mind frame! And I just found out that we're going back this December (6-10th), so I'll be able to stock up on Mickey Ornaments!! YAY!

Muhaha! Went to the store today and bought one roll of tape (I just know this won't be enough!). Figured once I'm done with the roll of tape, I'm done wrapping for the day, or weekend as the case will most likely be

Yep, our walmart was the same here, 30 minutes into BF and they were all gone ... good thing for us that there's 4 walmarts within 20 miles, and two more on the way!

LOL same here! I went down into my basement today to sort stuff out and start wrapping my son's presents and realized I had NO tape! About 25 rolls of paper, but zero on the sticky stuff!

OMG! You rock! Thank you for that link... I'm planning on getting three for gifts, so that'll make 3 of them for about $25 since it's one per household. Maybe I'll send the other UPC and recepits to my mom and mother in law and have them submit!

I seriously dislike our BX at times... they rarely have what's on sale, and if they do, it's usually hard to find. Although, I'm hoping that they'll have some of those huge 6 foot blow up snowglobe decorations for $99! They have them at Kmart for $199

Some crazy lady once took my cart of toys that I got for my son.. but I couldn't really complain, as she paid for all if it! it was my mother.. the one and only time I ever took her shopping on BF, maybe I should take her more often?

Yep, it does look like an air compressor.. and sheesh... dh will be upset if it comes with all of those bells and whistles! We paid about 120 for ours (craftsman), and it came with just the basic stuff. Add the tools in, and we've likely paid close to that but don't have near as much!

christy, it looks like it's the Black and Decker Home Cafe coffee system. I bought one a few months ago, and it works good so far.. I may have to buy another for my in laws! becca
