  1. I bought the Sony 40" LCD on F&F. It scanned at the after "noon" price ($1699.99) for BF even though it wasn't marked on sale in the store. Now I'm wondering if I could go in before noon on BF and adjust that price even though I got all of the rebates and % off? I know that would probably be pushing it, lol. Would I lose all of the other rebates I had? I ended up paying $1318.49 and the doorbuster price is $1400. Think I could get $300. more back w/a price match that morning?
  2. Go to www.avsforum.com and read up on HDTV info. Yes you get what you pay for. I just bought the Sony 40" LCD HDTV 1080p. I went to this sight afterwards to learn more and understand things. They recommend that a smaller screen good name brand is better than a cheap big screen knock off. It's not about the size of the screen, you have to look at the specs. The plasmas are lower in price b/c of the many problems w/them such as screen burn on, glare and the idea that they don't last long. We hooked the tv into just a regular antenna. This tv has a built in ATSC digital tuner so it picks up the HD broadcast of my local channels. Most are in 1080i and one is 720p. This is a few things that I have learned. To get actual HD tv: 1. HDTV set 2. HDTV source/service (HD cable, HD satellite or HD antenna) 3. Upgrade your DVD player (reg. VCR won't look good unless it's a newer progressive scan type. If not pro. scan then buy an HD upconverting DVD player and buy an HDMI cable. It transforms reg. DVD into a HD signal for a better picture.) If program is not HD then it's not HD on the tv. Use component cables or HDMI NOT composite. If DVD player, cable box, game console, ect. has an HDMI output use that instead of the yellow composite cable. If HDMI is not aval. on your unit then check to see if it has component output on it (green, blue & red plugs) and use those. S video (yellow) & composite cables are not HD connections and equal bad picture. Hope this helps. Do some research and it will make things about as clear as mud, lol. I'm still confused on a lot of things but understand a lil more than I did before. Also wanted to add that having a big screen doesn't mean the picture will be that big. A lot of the HD shows on my 40" don't even take up the entire screen. The black bars are on each side. They say not to try to make the picture cover the whole screen b/c then it is distorted and not clear. Like blowing up a 4x6 picture to an 8x10, the quaility isn't as good. So having the big screen doesn't always equal a picture that size.
  3. I have a question about the bf ad. On page 34 of 48 of the tv ads for Fri. and Sat. it says No payments 'til 2010 or 10% cash back after MIR with your Sears card. My question is does this 10% work on the door buster tvs as well? I guess the MIR means you get the 10% amount back in the mail or is there another MIR offer? I know the other MIR offer ends 11/17/07. The fine print says the 10% rebate offer excludes Great Price items. I didn't see anything labeled Great Price or do doorbusters qualify as this? Also, I didn't see anything about quantities limited on the doorbuster tvs. Does this mean they will have plenty? Hopeful thinking I know, lol.
  4. Thank you so much for the info. I will check out the forum as well and maybe I'll know what I am looking for by bf, lol.
  5. Dh and I are thinking about getting a new tv on bf. My question is what is the difference bewteen LCD and plasma and HD and all that? We don't have cable or a dish and not looking for the newest and best out there. Just need to know the basics and what not to buy or is a waste of money. Also what is HDMI and the difference between 1080p and 1080i. Also thinking about getting a home theater system. Anything in Sears bf ad look like a great deal on a good tv for us? Thanks for any help and info or sites to check out.
  6. Yeah, I wasn't impressed. Not really any deals either. Hope they do a lot better on bf, especially since their prices are higher than Target and Walmart to begin with.
  7. I tried using a Target coupon and a manufacture's coupon on one item and they wouldn't let me. The cashier is always there working everytime I check out. They usually only have 1 or 2 lines open so I have to go to her. This was a couple months ago and if I had known for sure I could of used 2 I would of said more than I did.
  8. I bought this today. There were 2 on the shelf and both had been opened. The plastic bag that has the cd in it was ripped open. I went ahead and bought it but now I'm wondering if I should of passed it by. Anyone know if this is a good item? Guess I need to look up the reviews somewhere.
  9. The Oct. 21st TRU add said that Super Smash Brothers Brawl will be in store 12/4. You can preorder now. Also, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games on 11/20. Super Mario Galaxy on 11/13.
  10. Just another reason not to shop at Walmart. My DH has warned me about shopping their b/c of this whole China thing. I shop Walmart b/c of the lower prices but Target is almost as low now so this might make me switch to Target for good. I've always noticed that Walmart won't stock things that the competitors have on sale for the week so there is nothing to price match. Sounds like they will do this more on bf as well. I don't understand that though b/c it is bringing in more business for them. Exactly right about biting the hand that feeds them.
  11. This year my DS's b-day is on black friday. He will be 9. Poor guy, last year it was on Thanksgiving day. Last yr. was our first bf out and I asked him if he wanted to go shopping on his b-day this year, lol. I think him and his sis had fun last time and are ready to go again. My DD's b-day is one week before his and all of our neices and nephews have b-days in Nov. as well. My b-day is 2 weeks after my DS in Dec. and our anniversary is the end of Oct. Needless to say this is an expensive time of the year.
  12. Most of the time I'm afraid to return something b/c I've heard that stores track returns and are going to set limits. Almost all of my returns are b/c of wrong size on the kids or something like that. I haven't really bought something cheaper and taken the higher priced one back. Is it true that they might start limiting returns?
  13. We decided to buy a battery charger for all sizes and rechargable batteries. That way we can use it for the digital camera and other things as well as the remotes. Our gamecube controllers take AAA batteries and the Wii takes AA.
  14. We have gotten the cajun fried turkey twice. It was pretty good but a lil too spicy for some that don't care for that. Others, like me, hardly noticed the spices. Luckily they had it in store last time so I didn't have to pay for delivery. We also like the ham and love to cook beans w/the bone. My DH absolutely loves that. Haven't tried anything else from there. The sides are simple enough to make and who wants to pay that much for them.
  15. I shop the Arnold and Gravios Bluffs stores.
  16. http://www9.toysrus.com/our/tru/prom/101107Email/919786.cfm?siteID=vJW2bQGthas-63D_F3LtYDtIC6n7aNJvYQ Maybe this will work for those that can only print it once. Sorry that didn't work. So nevermind, lol.
  17. Just got back from TRU and the only pet shop that they will take are the $2.29 single pets. I only saw 4 different ones to choose from. I ended up getting 2. Got one at the video game checkout and then the other when I checked out w/other stuff. Wish it would of worked on the nooks but still a good deal.
  18. Thanks for the coupon. I wonder which Pet Shop packages this will work on. Would love to be able to use this on the new nooks or double animal packs.
  19. The 3 pack of remotes for $75. at Sams is the regular, nunchuk and classic. They had many in stock. You can buy them separately for $80, so like I said before, not a big deal.
  20. It all depends on your location for when to find a Wii in a store. I have been able to find them at Target, Walmart and Gamestop any day of the week. Just ask them when they usually get them in, it's not top secret, lol. They willing told me what day and time shipments come in and they didn't wait until Sun. to put them out. The 3 pack of Wii remotes at Sam's Club doesn't specify which remotes it is. I'm guess it's a Wii remote, nunchuck and a classic remote which would normally cost $80. So the $75. isn't that great of a deal and good luck finding them in stock at Sams. I would never trust anything on Craig's List and be careful on Ebay. I think Amazon is your best bet of the three. Just keep looking and calling and you'll find one soon. Best of luck. Know your prices when you go to Gamestop b/c I have seen used games priced higher than a new game at regular stores. Also their used gamecube memory cards are way over priced.
  21. Thanks for the info about only being able to use 1 code. I ended up just ordering online and using the 20% off code, ty apurpleocean. It saved me $12. :)
  22. Can you use 2 codes when checking out? I was wanting the free shipping and the 15% off. Is that too much to ask, lol. If anyone knows how to do this please let me know. If not, do they let you use codes when ordering in store to ship to the store?
  23. Thank you for the info. That is at least one less extra thing to buy, lol.
  24. I have a question about the Wii console package. It says it comes w/a remote but does it also come w/a nunchuck?? I read that this package from CC came w/2 remotes and 2 nunchucks. I was just wanting to know if the regular unit comes w/a nunchuck?
  25. Dh and I have been canning salsa the past few years with ingredients from our own garden. The first yr. we just did the chopping by hand and then we progressed to a little chopper. It wasn't the greatest b/c it wouldn't completely chop everything and it takes a lot of the juices out. This year I used the Vidalia Chop Wizard. It worked great and didn't turn everything to mush or leave big chunks. You can find them for around $20. For the tomatoes we use the Back to Basics Food Strainer & Sauce Maker. I can not express how fast and easy this strainer is to use. All you have to do is wash the tomatoes and quarter them and the strainer does the rest. No more boiling and trying to peel them! It seperates the skins from the juice. It has different size of strainer attachments so you can make apple sauce or jelly and so on. This is a must for anyone canning anything w/tomatoes or straining things. I think we bought ours on sale a few years ago for around $40. and it was worth every penny.
