With The Economy This Year Are You Cutting Back for Black Friday?
peppysfireball replied to bfaddict1977's topic in 2011
Probably the same. I have a xmas club at my bank , so I will have the cash in hand. My 14 year old wants expensive electronics, last year was a huge year so this year he shouldn't need such expensive items. . I like all of my kids to have the exact same number of presents. Usually about 12. Even if some are small and some are big, there has to be the same. My grandkids get about 6, also doesn't matter how much they cost, they all have to have the same total. IT matters to kids that they all have the same and if one kid has one less present, they know. Christmas eve was always pajamas, but my youngest just wears boxers to bed, so I started getting him a book for xmas eve 2years ago. -
Official Black Friday TABLET & E-READER Discussion Thread
peppysfireball replied to Brad's topic in 2011
Amazon is reportedly going to put out a tablet in the next few months around 249.00. It is supoosed to be hundreds less than comparable Ipads. -
I am glad now I didn't buy one. I signed up for google alerts to get any articles on this. It appears that HP only made it after acquiring the WEBOS system. Now that it is discontinued, developers aren't making any more apps to go on it. My son first gave me a clue when I asked him if he wanted one. He said, where are you going to get apps for it?

There is a button that you can report you found an item cheaper. Amazon's prices change hourly as they get reports of different pricing. You may come bck tomorrow and it's cheaper.

Amazon Prime--anyone with spots open?
peppysfireball replied to speeddiva's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
I do know that you can only share prime with a member living in your same household. I was told on another site if amazon finds out you are sharing with strangers, they will cancel your amazon account completely. Apparently they have done it before. I've had prime for free for over 2 years now. I signed up for amazon mom and it comes with 3 months free prime. When it runs out I get another gmail address and sign up again. -
My granddaughters are only interested in Monster High stuff at this time. There are a bunch of new ones out there and I admit I've gotten addicted with them. I read all that vampire stuff and it's really getting huge.

new camcorder? help please
peppysfireball replied to ourhappyfamily4's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
Both my sons have the Sony Handycam with 60 gig hard drive. I was surprised at how easy it was. You open it and it's already on. One button switches over to photos . It has a software called Easy, that burns it to a dvd in one touch. It is awesome. -
Even with teh kindle, it would have been refurbished. They replace them with no questions asked, but you only get a new replacement if it's within 30 days. After that, it's a refurbished one. If you don't like the replacement, call them and they will send you a different one. We will have library lending this year. The customer service is awesome.

I think you may misunderstand. You can have unlimited kindles registered to your kindle account and the books can be put on up to 6 kindles at one time and can be read on all of them at the same time. Since the publishers set these rules, I assume they work for Nook also. Many book clubs are registering to one account so they can all read teh same books without everyone purchasing their own copy. Keep in mine, B and N customer service is reported as horrible and you can't return a book if you buy it by accident or don't like it, but amazon gives you 7 days. They also replace the kindles free overnight if yuou break them or have problems. They give you 30 days to return the old unit . B and N don't do that either. I've had 2 replacement kindles myself and I didn't even buy it in the first place, it was a gift.

Amazon pre-order price guarantee- Is it worth it?
peppysfireball replied to tinkrbel's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
They don't price match anything. If their price goes lower , and you preordered, you get the lowest price. If someone else has it cheaper, they do NOT price match. If their own price went lower after you bought it, they don't refund the difference, but if you call , they sometimes give a one time good will refund. It is not guaranteed.. But they do not ever pricematch. -
Exactly, that's how I do it. I can't cut back and lose anything. I took a womens walking class and we learned with your regular exercise you shouldn't eat more than 1300 calories anyway or you will gain. The only way I can lose weight is to not eat at all. I drink diet green tea and eat no breakfast or dinner and just a small amount of supper and maybe some popcorn at night. I can lose 5-10 pounds a week that way. I maintained a 20 pound loss for the last year that way. I weigh myself every day and if I gain a little, I don't eat again for a few days.

If you sign up for amazon mom you get it for 3 months free. When mine runs out, I open another amazon account with a new gmail address and get it again. I've never had to buy prime in over 2 years. I was told by amazon when I sent my son the option to use my account that you can only share it with family members who live in your home. You could possibly get in trouble if they find out you aren't .

Portable DVD player for car
peppysfireball replied to cbtlab's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
I bought 10 inch theatre system dvd players but they didn't holdup well. I replaced them 3 times and now broken again. -
About 8 years ago our homeowners told us they would cancel us. We are 10 miles from town with no children on our road. They ordered me to put a fence around it. THey didn't care about the 15 foot above ground pool. I told them if there were children here, they were invited so a fence was useless, something for my child to get impaled on. They finally relented, but we switched companies 5 years ago, and had to go with Country Companies. THe others wouldn't allow pools or trampolines. Country companies don't care at all. Allied, which is who our auto is with, won't even write to homes in the country. We are now problem free, we have trampoline and pool both and no fence. I told them I would just put it in the backyard if they had a problem, they couldn't take a pic of that without pulling into the driveway. Apparently they drive around and take pictures of the houses when you aren't aware of it.

My 14 year old just upgraded to the dsi. It has camera , you won't need it. DS lite is smaller and it's the one my grandkids like to play with. They are 4,6,8. I let them play with son's old ds lite. Be careful, the two youngest can't play the games we have, even the ones coded e for everyone. You need to make sure the skill level is age 5 or around there. When my son first got a ds, we bought the toy story game thinking he could play it and it was too difficult. My grand daughter just [pretends, she can't play any of the games we have. I don't think they make old regular ds anymore, but I wouldn't buy one. DS lite has pictochat. The kids on the schoolbus can chat with each other from their ds's .

I've bought many many used cars over the years. We have several dealerships in our area that are honest . However if my motor blew up, my husband would buy one from the used parts shop in the area and change it , total cost up to 500. We once bought a motor with 1000 miles on it for 700. My husband's current work car cost us 1700, but my used Pontiac Montana van was 14000. It all depends on what you are looking for. Many places will take your old car in trade even thought it doesn't run.

If amazon says they do not qualify for prime then they are not being sold by amazon but by a third party seller.

I have a kindle and I use Calibre too. It's great.

I hated my easyshare so bad, I bought a new Samsung. The software locked up my computer daily. It took rechargeable batteries that would run down after a few pics. I bought a camera with a battery pack, I love it. It's a Samsung i85.
