That did sound really interesting. I wasn't the one who actually said I'd try it but I was definitely thinking I was going to go back and look at that when I got ready to wrap. The engineer in me found the method fascinating and worthy of at least trying to make it work for me.

I hear you. The Onkyo receiver I want is only $250 and I had been looking at TVs but the model I want isn't in my budget right now. And even if it was, I'd only be about halfway to that $1500 mark. lol

We don't spend enough to make us worth their time, apparently. lol

That alone on Christmas thread had some good stuff in it for those of us that do holidays alone. Hope it gets reposted.

I was hoping the Amazon Fire HD8 tablets would be in early access, but no such luck. (I've played with all three sizes - 7, 8, & 10 - in store and I like the 8 the best) Guess it's gonna be a late night tomorrow night. lol

Database backup restored - last 24 hours of posts lost

Evil database gremlins! Sorry you had to deal with that, Brad. Thanks for getting us back up and running. -
OK... So I've been wrapping up my actual in-store recon (for now) on TVs. Settled on a model and size that I really like, given my somewhat limited budget - the Sony XBR49X800E. Problem: Lowest price I've seen (new) is still $100 over my max budget right now. Guess no TV for me yet. Maybe before the "big game". (But absolutely let me know if you guys happen to see this model around the $600 price point!)

The Samsung is a beautiful TV for direct line viewing. Given your setup, it's a good fit. Hope you enjoy it! Sent from my iPhone using GottaDEAL

Got a carpet cleaner bundle I've been eyeing (not a BF sale specifically, but...). Waited till tonight to maximize KC. Bought fresh pillows, a few more Big One throws, some extra cookie sheets and another set of the stacking wire racks. Win. $90 KC headed my way. Sent from my iPhone using GottaDEAL

That one is to the MU6500 what the MU6290 is to the MU6300. Saw these in the stores today as well. They did seem to fare a bit better when you view them from an angle than the 6290/6300 do. Not sure if it was directly related to the curved screen, but that would be my guess. Sent from my iPhone using GottaDEAL

I agree with not bothering with Hitachi. As for the Samsungs, I've been looking at these as well, so I went to see them on display in the store today. Rtings.com wasn't kidding when they said picture degrades rapidly when viewed at an angle. If you will have it directly in front of the bed, it will be a great TV. If it will be off at an angle, it won't be your best choice. In my observations, the LG or even a Vizio work better at angles. Sent from my iPhone using GottaDEAL

I like it... The SNES (pronounced sneeze) teasers.

Or as the prize inside a Cracker Jack box...

Got started on my SS shopping last night... Or rather - finally actually moved beyond list phase into purchase phase. lol

Some stores will, some won't. Mine still had them late Friday morning (like nearing noon) last year. We have not been able to swap scents in the past so that would be something new, if true.

Finally! Many thanks to bluebear! And just FYI - my gals in my local store told me they would be opening at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving.
-
And even those of us who mean well but still only make it in for about 3 months out of the year get it.

Where do you hide gifts and how do you keep track of everything bought?

Worth a shot. You do live around lots of lakes! -
Yeah Meijer doesn't actually close on Thanksgiving, so you can, as Kash mentioned, get there early (and for electronics, they're already lining up Wednesday night), find what you're looking for, and get in line for it. My Meijer usually posts a map at the entrances to show where some of the bigger items are going to be.

Psst... HD ad hunters... http://bit.ly/2hqEjIL You're welcome...

Not sure what their situation is, but for some it's just personal preference. Some of us are limited by the space available, too. For example, I cannot fit any larger than a 55" (and it would be tight) in the space where I have my TV in my apartment. Nothing to do with an entertainment center, everything to do with the rest of my living room furniture not fitting well (or at all) in any other arrangement. As a result, my TV space is confined by walls in a corner. Sent from my iPhone using GottaDEAL

Pssst... Check the "Store-Specific Discussions" section... I hear there just might be something interesting there... ETA: Or just click the link in Bopeep's post... (We were posting at the same time!)

Depends on where I'm at. If I'm at home (like I will be this year), Walmart recon will happen Thursday after lunch. I'll wander over to Meijer to kill some time/grab a mid-afternoon snack, maybe head home for a bit, then back to Walmart by about 4. I do my Thursday running, then home by no later than midnight to get to bed and back up early Friday to line up at Home Depot (camera is very hungry for those batteries, you know!) where they give us donuts and coffee pre-opening. After all is said and done, it's usually about 9 a.m. Friday. Thinking my local coney island might be calling my name for some mid-morning breakfast this time around.

I saw that, but it said all 35 lb pails this year, while last year's ad called out both 17 and 35 lb pails. (I looked in the GD archives here: http://www.blackfridayarchive.com/Ad/PetSmart/2016)Makes one cautious... I'll check with my folks at my PetSmart, but it looks like they might have gotten wise.
