There exist steel legs that mount to the VESA mounting holes on the back of the TV that could fix the "my current TV table/stand/etc won't hold the new one" problem. The legs run on average about $20, from what I've found. Just a thought. (I'll likely be getting a set myself soon, as my current TV stand has the weight capability but not the width to hold most of the 50-55" TVs, since their legs are often out near the edges of the TV.)

Oh geez. As long as we don't have another Walmart/Sam's Club on our hands, we'll be fine. lol Glad I got a chance to look through it last night, will look forward to its return so I can finalize my list.

Yeah the Kohl's cash (if you shop at Kohl's enough) makes that Samsung deal a decent one. Otherwise, it's just OK, compared with what else is out there. Nice start to the big ads, though.

Post a Recipe & Win Black Friday T-Shirts [Winners Posted]
wittenlover replied to Brad's topic in 2017
Already won a shirt (thanks Brad!) but... I make this every year at Christmas and always get requests (demands?) for more. Ha. Layered Chocolate Mint Fudge (taken from allrecipes.com) - 2 Cups semisweet chocolate chips - 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk - 2 tsp vanilla extract - 6 oz white confectioners' coating (think vanilla bark you often see sold by lb-size blocks in store) or premium white choc chips - 1 Tbsp peppermint extract (I usually double this, but I'm a huge mint fan) - A few drops of food coloring (optional) 1. In heavy saucepan, over low heat, melt chocolate chips with 1 cup sweetened condensed milk; add vanilla. Spread half the mixture into wax-paper-lined 8- or 9-inch square pan; chill 10 minutes or until firm. Hold remaining chocolate mixture at room temperature. 2. In heavy saucepan, over low heat, melt white confectioners coating with remaining sweetened condensed milk (mixture will be thick). Add peppermint extract and food coloring (optional). [Note: I use a second pan to melt the white coating, leaving the chocolate in the first pan for remelt purposes.) 3. Spread on chilled chocolate layer; chill 10 minutes longer or until firm. 4. Spread reserved chocolate mixture on mint layer. Chill 2 hours or until firm. Turn onto cutting board; peel off paper and cut into squares. Store leftovers covered in refrigerator. My notes: - I use silicone spatulas to stir my melting candy. Makes for easier cleanup after. - I have yet to have any of my layers take only 10 minutes to firm up. It usually takes a few minutes longer. (YMMV) - I typically use the tiny bottles of candy making oils instead of extract to limit the amount of liquid I'm adding into the middle layer, though both work just fine. (Fair warning - I "mint" myself out of the kitchen for a minute when I add the peppermint oil to the hot candy if I forget to turn on my hood fan. lol) - I have adapted this recipe to use pretty much any flavor for the middle layer, as the top and bottom have only chocolate. My best "alternative" results so far: Strawberry, cherry, raspberry (though I needed more raspberry flavoring to make that flavor stand out - middle layer took extra time to really firm up). I've considered (but not made yet) orange, butterscotch, and a couple of others. - I've also considered (but not tried yet) using dark chocolate chips instead of semisweet. - Food coloring can be fun. One of the first times I made this, I swirled blue and pink in just enough to get streaks to create a marbled effect. Looked pretty cool when I cut it apart. - I have (accidentally) made this without the vanilla with no ill effects. ETA: Makes about 64 pieces, depending on how you cut it. Enjoy! -
Is that seriously even a question, Brad? You know we were all poring over the Kohl's ad... Now... About that PDF... lol

Likewise... lol

Thanks, folks. I'll make sure to open a wide space up if I do go that route. Plenty of room for both cats to snooze under on my "Big One" red blanket I use as a tree skirt for the season.

It's also listed directly on the bestbuy.com site for the exact same price right now. Has been for a little while now. (I verified the model numbers matched.) The "was" price is $499.99 but I haven't seen that model above $400 in at least a solid month. (Nope, I'm not obsessing over my TV shopping... Not at all... )

Last year, a group of our choir folks from my church (I would have been in the group but I was out of town) went to a local "senior assisted living" facility and sang Christmas carols. As most know, few of these residents get many visitors, so they thoroughly enjoyed it. Fun was had by all - I was sorry I'd been unable to go. If you have a place like that near you, that might be a good opportunity. If not singing, just coming in and playing board/card games with them can be a good way to bring joy to others in giving of yourselves. :-)

I'm already seeing decent 4K sets for sub-$400 in the 50" range. Looking back at last year's BB ad, now kicking myself I didn't pull the trigger on that Samsung they had for sub-$400. Was a killer deal then, still a pretty good deal today. Hoping for something similar this year. Won't pass up another deal like that.

Can anybody give me a rough diameter around the lowest branches on one of these HD trees? If not, I can just nose around my HD in the next couple weeks to see about nabbing a measurement. *dusting off trusty tape measure* I'm guessing they'll have one on display. (One of those things they never tell you in the ads!)

YAY!!! Thanks, Brad!!! Will wear it proudly! :-) (Congrats to all the other winners, too!) -
I looked at those but they're too small for the volume of baking I do... lol It is a nice set, though, for those who don't bake by the tens of dozens like I do.

I keep looking at those HD trees every year, but I keep passing on them. I have a 4' tree right now that fits nicely in my apartment living room for the spot that I have. They do keep tempting me, though, since my bedroom is *huge* and I could easily have a tree in there as well. Maybe this year...

YES! My dad and I used to go in there when I was a kid. We liked to hunt in the "Scratch & dent" section for good stuff.

This is interesting to see. Would definitely enjoy seeing some others, as well. Thanks for sharing, Brad!

If I'm home (not at my Dad's place), my tree goes up Saturday after Thanksgiving. If I'm up at my dad's, I put my tree up the following weekend. The kitties much enjoy sitting under/chewing on it. It comes down sometime in January before dad's bday on the 15th.
