Some of our favorites in no particular order. Elf The Santa Clause A Christmas Story Rudolph The Red Nosed Renideer Frosty The Snow Man Christmas Vacation Home Alone The Polar Express How the Grinch Stole Christmas (both orig and newer) Charlie Brown Christmas Jingle All The Way Muppet Christmas Carol It's A Wonderful Life Christmas With The Kranks Santa Claus Is Coming To Town Bad Santa We also watch a lot of the Lifetime and Hallmark ones. One of the ones I really liked the name escapes me is one with Tony Danza where he is a thief and works in a small town during the holidays to case the town. Was a good movie.

    Christmas Shows

I set a couple to record on TiVo last night from the Wishlist (as well as some Halloween things from that wishlist). Need to unpack all of our videos so I can find all of my Christmas ones. I'm always into Christmas shows. We actually have a lot of winter and Christmas themed artwork (most still packed right now) that we're going to put up when we finish the bonus room off. I hope to be able to start working on that this winter but I also need to work on finishing the basement so I can build out my office down there lol. Even at my age I still LOVE the original Rudolph and Frosty claymations. A couple of years ago my wife bought the set for me.

    Christmas Shows

I'm getting in that mood. I have a Christmas wishlist on my TiVo's so I have been going in lately and setting some shows to record Can't wait to start watching lol. I ALWAYS have A Christmas Story and National Lampoons Christmas Vacation on disc and those are ones that get watched year round.
  4. We take almost no cash with us ever (just not fond of having to deal with it) we normally have a credit card we use and then it's paid off right away (or fairly close when we have those no interest offers then I may stretch it out a little.
  5. Yes it usually is one
  6. I avoid Kohl's like the plague. It's the one place where I will let my wife head in there and I will stay in the car. FAR too many people in there and they tend to annoy me. So it's best for all involved lol.
  7. Ready for it to kick off
  8. Len, I have heard they are going to stop selling the Fire Phone. Has been a HUGE sales letdown for them. I read an article that it has caused them to look again at many gadgets they have coming out. So with all the stock they have left you might be able to get a great deal on one. Just not sure what support is going to be for it though. I agree the $67 only for new is annoying. I wonder what their description of new is. Is it that you have never subscribed before? I use it for the free shipping we have WAY more than paid for it with that in the past couple of years. Last year we did all of our out of state Christmas shopping on Amazon and that alone covered the cost. Then with all the added shipping we got while buying stuff for our house was a bonus. Free is good and it being 2 day and free makes it even better, many times when I search Prime is one of the check boxes I tick off
  9. If you have a Sam's club membership or know someone who does they usually have good deals on gift cards. Like $50 for $39.95 on a lot of them. We buy them for restaurants we like, picking up one for Buca this weekend $100 for $79.95. $20 instant savings and then we have a coupon on top of it
  10. If he has hobbies you could get Gift Cards for places that sell things for those, like if he is into Hunting or Camping you can do Bass Pro Shops or Dicks or places like that, if into Games you can do Game Stop, into Models or R/C you can do local Hobby Shops. Also you can break up the food ones like you were saying based on the type they are.
  11. Hmmm, didn't know people were holding back. Seems to me people seem to be spending more freely lately. I guess time will tell though
  12. I can't believe how far down Kmart has gone. They need to build some new nice stores, lay them out well and rebuild their image. If not I don't see them being around much longer.
  13. I think Apple is playing a lot of catch up right now. They should have added the app store YEARS ago. Going to be some decent features on it but nothing no one else has right now. I will most likely check it out at some point just because I love tech but I will wait until they come to the conclusion that the price is too high just as they did before.
  14. First ad will be Harbor Freight probably on 10/12 lol
  15. I think a lot of people look at specs of something and go oh that's not the latest buzzword bingo spec I keep hearing about so it must be garbage. In 06 we bought a Toshiba 50" Plasma 720P (or 1080i) TV and the ONLY reason I don't have it right now is we moved 1300 miles away and I was worried about it getting broken so I gave it to my in-laws who still use it and it still has an awesome picture. I have a 70" and 42" Vizio in our house now and some of the first things I did was search the net for good picture settings. Got the TV setup and tuned right and they both have awesome pictures.
  16. To me it's kind of odd, there are so many reasons to have Prime for us as a family that I can't imagine some eh deals really being the swaying decision. The 2 day Prime Shipping has WAY more than paid for our membership the past few years alone.
  17. Ya the deals always make it fun and are what usually hook people. Now we usually have very specific things we want but we still go all out for the tradition and the fun of it all more than the pure money savings aspect. With us both having families in different states we end up doing a lot more online through like Amazon so that we don't have to worry about a ton of shipping but we would never miss the fun of going out and shopping. Ya people seem to take this stuff WAY too seriously, luckily I am not a small person and I don't always look very pleasant when people start to get on my nerves so the majority of the people around usually don't try stuff with me or those with me lol. One year my wife had a HORRIBLE headache and we thought we were going to miss out but I told her let's go back home (we had been in line from about 1AM waiting for Best buy to open) and she thought I would be bummed. I told her that her feeling better was more important than a deal on a TV. So we went home and she went to sleep, woke up about 5AM and her headache was gone. So she wanted to head back out. Got to Best Buy, got in and still ended up getting what we wanted so it was a double win.
  18. Usually some deals out there for them, though I see far more of the full home theater sound systems than just the bars and subs. I watch Woot a lot and they seem to get a bunch as the season approaches and leaves.
  19. It really depends on what you want to do. ChromeOS is a cloud type OS will not run MS applications or games and such. It's meant to be more like the old netbooks where they aren't powerful just inexpensive. In my VERY limited dealing with it I wasn't super impressed but they have been around a while so I guess they have a place
  20. To me BF is more than just the items on sale. It's a part of tradition, I at times think it's also about the hunt not just the score
  21. I'm hoping they have some killer deals on the Surface Pro 3 this year. Messed with one for work and I think it would be a nice replacement for a laptop we use, just need a great price and the KB with it lol.
  22. I've been considering adding an MS Surface Pro 3 tablet to the list if they have any good deals on them. I've heard a newer one is coming out and if the price is right I would consider the current one. Would be a nice replacement for a laptop we have seeing as it will run all apps full blown.
  23. Ya I can't wait to see the shirts this year Hope it goes smoother this year for them lol
  24. We have a thread on the secret sales so figured I would ask you all about your best and worst memories from BF year's past. I think some of my best memories are the more simple things, going out in the middle of the night shopping with my wife and our family, then we ALWAYS go out to cracker barrel and have breakfast around 7am before heading back for rounds 2 and 3 of shopping. Taking that load home and resting for a few then heading back out for a second pass through of some of the places like Walmart, Target and Toys R Us. ALWAYS end up finding some of the door busters deals hidden away in some spot that some person forgot about. Take them up to the register and at least at Walmart 9 out of 10 times get them for the reduced price. Lots of fun. One of my worst memories was one year we had gone back to Best Buy after eating breakfast for their 9am sale to start. My mother in-law wanted some TomTom GPS's for presents. So my brother in-law and I headed into Best Buy while her and my wife went to another store. SO my b-i-l and I get in line and are waiting for the magic time to roll around we are talking to a lady right by us and she is WAY pregnant. Really nice lady was telling us she is there just for this for her husband for Christmas. The BB employee comes over and is just getting ready to start giving them out when some jerk guy comes bowling through the crowd and darn near knocks the pregnant lady over by slamming into her. Now I'm by nature a protective person and not exactly small or frail, my b-i-l is the same way. Just as this guy goes to push through I turn and tell him he had better back off before he finds himself in a world of hurt, he goes to open his mouth looks at me looks at my b-i-l, looks at a couple other guys who just started to join us and wisely decides to leave not just the area but the store. We made sure the lady was ok made sure she got what she was there for. Funny thing about it all was they had a decent amount of them I think most everyone that was in line with us got at least one as this person most likely would have had he not tried to be a moron. Got to love people Rest of the day was good as was all the time leading up to that also.
  25. I always remember in 2006 when we got our plasma tv from Best Buy it was one of the Door Busters. Well I was like 5th in line when we got in. They had 4 in stock and when they announced that they didn't have any more in stock a lot of people got really crappy about it and were flat out rude. So I was still standing there and started to talk to the sales lady who was by me. She told me I can still get one if I want it that as part of their secret sale they had MORE of them the only catch was that you had to wait until Saturday to get it. I was super nice to her and I was like hey I'm all in. She smiled and wrote me up they even kicked in their shipping and setup right to my house. Next evening Best Buy showed up, unboxed and setup our new HD TV. I've found it always pays to be as nice as possible to the people who work there.
