  1. a granola bar or two, cell phone, and money/debit card. Also depending on the weather - gloves, coat, scarf, extra layers, etc. Oh and a magazine or something as I got bored last year.
  2. Here are the two favorites that I get asked to make over and over every Christmas. If anyone has a good chocolate chip cookie recipe I would really appreciate it. I use the one of the Toll House chips package but I end up with flattened cookies every year... I like them to not be flat, but dense and thick. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- JIF Irresistible Peanut Butter Cookies INGREDIENTS: 1 1/4 cups firmly packed light brown sugar 3/4 cup JIF Peanut Butter (yes seriously use JIF, it is the best) 1/2 cup butter, margarine, or crisco 3 tablespoons milk 1 tablespoon vanilla 1 egg 1 3/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour 3/4 teaspoon baking soda 3/4 teaspoon salt DIRECTIONS: Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Place sheets of foil on countertop for cooling cookies. Combine brown sugar, JIF peanut butter, butter/shortening, milk and vanilla in large bowl. Beat at medium speed of electric mixer until well blended. Add egg. Beat just until blended. Combine flour, baking soda and salt. Add to creamed mixture at low speed. Mix just until blended. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten slightly in crisscross pattern with tines of fork. Bake one baking sheet at a time for 7-8 minutes or until set and just beginning to brown. Do not over-bake. Cool 2 minutes on baking sheet. Remove cookies to foil to cool completely. (About half the cookies I flatten with the crisscross pattern with the fork. The other half I do no flatten much and then put a hershey kiss in the middle when they come out of the oven) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Brer Rabbit Molasses Cookies Ingredients: 3/4 cup margarine, softened 1 cup sugar 1/4 cup BRER RABBIT Molasses, light or dark 1 egg 2 cups all purpose flour 2 tsps. baking soda 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger granulated sugar, sprinkled on top Directions: In large bowl, with mixer at low speed, beat together margarine and 1 cup sugar until creamy. Add molasses and egg, beating until well blended. In medium bowl, blend flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, cloves and ginger. Add to molasses mixture; mix well. Cover and chill. Form dough into 1-inch balls. Roll each in sugar; place on non-stick cookie sheets about 2 inches apart. Bake at 375 degrees for 6 to 8 minutes or until golden brown. Let stand 1 minute. Remove cookies to wire rack to cool. Makes 5 dozen. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  3. I went very traditional a few years ago and have red, green, white, and silver. Before that I had a purple and silver color scheme. Sentimental ornaments do not have to fall into my color scheme - they get put up no matter what
  4. I'd call them back and ask them to make sure. All Hot Topics in the U.S. should be $10 for both. Canada ones are higher I've heard. Technically they're keeping it real hush-hush so they aren't supposed to tell you the price unless you're in the store and ask.
  5. How is this not posted yet? Hot Topic (today only I think) the new Metallica cd "Death Magnetic" is $5, a t-shirt is also $5. The "Day That Never Comes" single is $3. This is not advertised anywhere - you have to go to the store to get it. The store doesn't even have any signs up. I just got back with my stuff after driving clear across town on my lunch break. I'm now rockin' out in my office Dead - prices have gone up to regular prices, sale was only Friday, Sept. 12th.
  6. Has anyone got the boc on woot tonight??? i sure hope i do, but the pages are taking forever to load...i got all the payment info in & clicked to finalize buy...
  7. that sucks that it's really hard to get some things on video. I really want the MTV show "Unholy Union" on dvd, but it isn't available in the U.S. However a bunch of foreign countries got it released I feel your pain, but I don't think I would order from a site like that.
  8. Have you looked at your local "farm" store? Like Farm & Fleet or Tractor Supply or such. Sometimes they will have sales I believe.
  9. I got some great deals on Saturday. The candles were all 50% off and the vanilla coconut scent is awesome! I also got a bunch of Wallflowers for $5. The lady that checked me out said the sale goes on until July 7th. I said to her - a whole month? She gave me this look like well duh! and said "It is our semi-annual sale" Well yeah, but since when is it a month??? lol! I asked if there would be more postcards going out, but she didn't know. She said to check your email each week for new specials.
  10. Apparently some Blockbusters are selling them too.
  11. I got mine by doing a pick & pull order at Sam's Club. You can go to their website and find out if your local store has them in stock - if they do do and pick & pull order. Hopefully you have a good Sam's Club and they will pull it and hold it for you. I actually got this tip from another place and apparently some Sam's would not hold them. After I put my order in the morning they came out (but before the store opened) they called me and said I had to pick it up by the next evening or they would have to put it back on the sales floor - I told them no problem I would be there that evening. So basically what I'm saying is check it every morning or so and when your Sam's gets their next shipment in do the online order for it. ----Of course you will actually need a Sam's membership or day pass for this--- It is $5 cheaper at Sam's.
  12. I hope everybody got bunches of stuff yesterday!! Apparently the coupons only overlapped yesterday, 4/25. The savings were ridiculous I decided I didn't spend enough the first time so I went back and bought another bag full of stuff. I also had decided to try the spanx finally and those even rang up with both sale prices!! And an above person was correct the whole store is 40% off without a coupon then they added the $25 off $75 coupon, etc. after that.
  13. heads up that two promos might work together. I was at Lane Bryant last night to pick out the stuff I wanted and put them on hold for pick-up today since I don't have time to shop this weekend (and told the lady it was because of the coupon). She told me well let me get one of these other coupons for you. The regular $25 off $75 and so on. She said that they will take the $25 off $75 and then apply the 40% coupon If that actually works I will be amazed!!! I also got a $30 savings certificate in the mail with my new LB card. The language on it has no exclusions or anything - looks like it may work like a gift card. So if you have a LB card be on the lookout for that too :)
  14. Perhaps try a local scrapbook store. Some places have laser cut wood frames and will have the school info/mascot too. I'm not sure on the sizes & prices though. I would call around and just ask.
  15. I was in Macy's the other day and noticed that they had several on sale. Looked at them, but didn't pay attention to any particulars. The cheapest was on sale for $19.99 and they went up from there.
  16. You can always look on the right hand side for other sellers who are also selling the price...not sure what the problem here is.
  17. Yeah this offer is misleading...so I went looking for other offers and found this: https://www.daleandthomaspopcorn.com/dtp/shc12pack.aspx 12-Pack Samplers for $24 (regularly $48) Apply a $20 gift card if you have one and you can do the following deal: $24 -$20 gift card (enter in the promo code field) +7.95 shipping --------- $11.95 shipped I got it for $6.95 because I had some credit in my PopClub account, so use that too if you have it :)
  18. Ok I'm amazed at myself. I filled up 2 Saturdays ago - on Feb. 23rd. I still have just over 1/3 tank left. Taking the bus most days is saving me a ton of money. I was spending $50/week on gas! It has saved me more than just gas money though. Since I take the bus I don't end up doing a bunch of (unessecary) errands on the way home from work. I've been consolidating my trips much more and not going to so many stores and such so I haven't been spending as much at stores either.
  19. I started taking the bus for 3-4 days a week to work instead of driving. I'm saving quite a bit of money. Since I take the bus I also tend to not do a bunch of frivilous errands when I'm coming home. I filled up the tank last Saturday, $50, and I still have 3/4 tank left. Taking the bus isn't bad either, I get to read a magazine or book while I get shuttled to right outside my building :)
  20. It looks like the Lancaster one will be staying open (one of the few). See Columbus Dispatch article here: http://www.columbusdispatch.com/live/content/business/stories/2008/02/09/value_closings.ART_ART_02-09-08_C10_D49A6O8.html?sid=101 I was googling a bit and all I could find was 30 stores would be closing, but there doesn't seem to be a comprehensive list of the ones closing Two in Columbus will be turned into Burlington's
  21. The one on E. Main St. in Columbus, OH is closing too. I need to make it over there b/c I have a gift card to use up!
