  1. That BB ad is a tall glass of suck.
  2. I am going to Big Jim Slade's Best Buy and setting up shop in an hour.

  4. Yawn. Why would I ever want to set foot in a Walmart? The whole point of buying online is the convenience factor.
  5. It's just the monitor. $100 for a 19 inch LCD is a pretty good deal.
  6. I personally have a 1st gen Zune and love it. I also like that when Microsoft comes out with new features, they update the firmware on all past models including mine. So my 1st gen Zune can now do more things than when I first bought it. What a concept - Apple might want to take some notes, at least on this.
  7. History shows that this week starts the avalanche of ads.
  8. As in prior years, I saved a couple of hours by not going again this year.
  9. Repost - http://forums.gottadeal.com/showthread.php?t=124104
  10. The small silver lining here is that it is a Chapter 11 (restructuring) filing and they have a commitment for a $1.1B line of credit that will enable them, hopefully, to pay employees & vendors on an ongoing basis. That being said, I am almost certainly avoiding most CC rebates on BF items, which unfortunately, is about half the ad each year.
  11. Looks like it is OOS online - might be available in store. These were never available for store pickup so do not rely on the online inventory to tell you if it is available nearby - you have to go see for yourself or at least call.
  12. Bestbuy.com has the $299.99 laptop available now. Shipping was $19.99 for me. 13. I love how they give you just about everything you need and then throw in garbage integrated graphics.
  14. I need to think long and hard about buying rebate-laden items from Circuit City this year. Given their issues, I want to make sure I have a reasonable chance of collecting on the CC rebates (most manufacturer rebates should be OK).

    Cyber Monday

Amazon had some nice deals last year on BF.
  16. GottaDeal mentioned in the Chicago Tribune today. Saw it in print on page 3. Also available online: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/chi-talk-black-fridayoct30,0,2860964.story
  17. Are you a salesperson or something? Most people buy these items on credit cards. Please check your credit card to see if it adds an extra year to the manufacturers warranty on purchases - many do. Here is a Consumers Reports free article from 2006 (and updated for last year's holiday season) on extended warranties: http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/money/news/november-2006/why-you-dont-need-an-extended-warranty-11-06/overview/extended-warranty-11-06.htm
  18. One thing and one thing only will determine if layaway ever comes back: Whether Walmart is more profitable with it or without it. Walmart is one of the largest companies in the world that has to answer to shareholders; they will have layaway ONLY IF it is more profitable to have it then to not have it. They wouldn't offer it just to be nice to the working class (although they may spin it that way), they would offer it because of $$$.
  19. I have NEVER bought an extended warranty. I would only consider it if they cut the price significantly. There is a reason that these are pushed so heavily - the markup is astronomical. If you are the type that does not mind purchasing an extended warranty try to negotiate the price. Get them to come down - a lot.
  20. My guess: an extra $70. The electric dryer in the ad is Sears #88042. The gas dryer is likely item #98042.
  21. Yes it is for both. The clue is the giant OVER 50% off. As far as extras: Sales TaxDelivery (unless you have a big vehicle and take it with you)Gas Dryer is extra (usually $50 - $75)Electric cord (for electric dryer) or Gas line (for gas dryer)Pedestals (figure about $200 EACH)
  22. All I can say about the Sears ad is a Front loading washer and dryer for $599 total. WOW.
  23. The actual Wall Street Journal article stated that they were considering a plan, not that it was a done deal.
