  1. I love BF because it's the one guaranteed day of the year that I get time to myself! DH is just as much into it as I am now, even gives me a list of things he wants. This year he was smart and has already confirmed that he has BF off of work so I don't have to worry about being in a hurry - unless there is some less than thrilling weather in the area that would give me reason to believe he'd be called in. Favorite specific activity to participate in on BF (besides shop) - people watching. It's cheap entertainment and always fresh and new every year
  2. It's never too early... even DH was asking me if holiday music was being played yet! Where he's from, though, they start playing it Sept. 1 he says :)
  3. DH just told me he has BF off as well as Turkey Day but I reminded him that last year he told me that too and he ended up having to work! I'm thankful for those who do work on BF whether by choice or no, be it retail, medical or otherwise. I know the feeling because I've worked several myself :)
  4. Sounds to me like I need to be checking out Amazon this year...
  5. I just discovered this store over the weekend and happen to love the place! Anyway, I asked about BF and I was told they would be opening at 6AM though word hasn't been handed down regarding what they'll be offering. For those who are curious, there are only a couple of locations: 2 in MI (Grand Rapids and Monroe), with a 3rd opening soon in Flint; and one in OH (Niles). Has anyone else ever been shopping here?
  6. I don't have BF experience with them, but the one experience I do have was absolutely horrendous. Couldn't deliver a washer and dryer on time and then it was the WRONG dryer. Then the salespeople gave me a hassle when I went to complain and tried to sell me something else... I said to just give me a refund and I have not been back in one since (almost 8 years).
  7. Another Grand Rapids, Mi. shopper here! Most likely Lansing too...
  8. I need to remember to put those on my shopping list...
  9. I have plenty of cards for the card exchange, but for the very few close friends and family I send to I always select each one individually.
  10. I read this earlier and am quite interested. Is the full list available somewhere?
  11. Pixos and Bratz so far, and if DH had his way anything Captain Underpants
  12. And everyone will say WalMart
  13. I was in Michaels yesterday and was quite surprised at the amount of Christmas stuff out already. A lot of things were on clearance too, giving me something to think about as DD is quite the creative one. What really got me in the mood, however, was being hit with the pungent aroma of cinnamon scented pine cones
  14. Ditto. Well, I have a list but it's more about having fun. Watching people go crazy when those doors open and fighting in store...
  15. 1. Tie between Target and Meijer. Don't remember why but spent a fair bunch of $$. 2. Prepare by utilizing GD and watching You Tube clips of Black Fridays past. 3. Offer coffee and donuts and freebies, give out maps of the store and have the poor employees thoroughly prepped for BF. Make them watch past BF action on You Tube
  16. Me, myself and I
  17. I have no doubt that DH will be sending me out for another TV... it's become a BF tradition.
  18. Copy that.... I have a strong feeling that I'll be spending a lot less after all the things I ended up returning last year because DH raised a big stink after telling me to go out and shop!
  19. Crazy. I can't believe (well, yes I can since I've worked retail before) things are getting started so early. Gives me something to think about though.
  20. We start Sept. 8 as well. Over here at Meijer we have Crayola markers for 79 cents (their crayons 24 ct. are like 29 cents or something like that), 5 cent notebooks, 39 cent comp books and 19 cent glue and glue sticks. Was just in there and WM tonight and both have started setting up their big back to school displays... I've already started shopping and can't wait to do some more!
  21. These oatmeal raisin cookies that came from Florida yesterday are perfectly delicious! Kids say I should leave them out for Santa tonight.
  22. Yum yum, more cookies for me... this time from Kim I believe :) Brownies, those chow mein haystacks and some rice krispie treats... didn't last long
  23. My DD5 boldly put pickle jar on her list (she loves eating them). Needless to say she's got a jar under the tree and already knows it
