  1. I can't believe it's almost Christmas already. I still have soooo much that needs to be done. I have been subbing almost everyday so it makes it very hard to get things done. I am hoping that this weekend and next Monday I can try to finish things up. Thank goodness for shopping online LOL!!
  2. He does have the Guitar Hero II but I didn't realize that you can use that. Are you positive that it wil work? If so, that would save me money for now. His birthday is the following month and then I could get the drums for that instead.
  3. Well I realized about an hour ago I made a mistake on one of my DS gifts. My husband had suggested to me that I get our DS the new game Rockband for his XBOX 360. He had heard some great things about it from others. So about a week ago, I ordered it and it had already arrived. I never bothered to read the outside of the game, I just put it away with my Christmas stuff. In the mean time, I had basically finished everything for our kids minus stocking stuff and a couple of other things for DD. As far as I was concerened, our DS was done though.......until I was on the computer a bit ago and read something about the new game and realized that you also need to buy the guitar or drum set....another 80.00 plus tax!!!!!!!! UGH!!!!!!!!!! I could shoot myself for NOT reading about it before I ordered it. I would have still gotten it, but I would not have gotten a couple other things that I got a couple of days ago...UGH!!!!! Am I the only persn who does something like this........
  4. Hate it.....Hate it....still hate it....did I mention I REALLY hate it??????????
  5. We always wrap the Santa gifts in Santa paper. Something that really stands out compared to "our" gifts. Sometimes I will wrap things that come in their stockings, but never everything.Santa usually leaves a stuffed animal for our DD. That is always sitting under the tree with just a name tag on it.
  6. I want to thank everyone for all of their great suggestions. I ended up getting my tree from www.Christmastreesgalore.com . I got one for a little under 200 and it was half off!! I love it. It is prelit with the whitelights. Super easy to put together and super fast shipping!!! I had it in my house in 4 days!!!!!!!!!!! Plus on top of everything, the shipping was free!!! I was going to update the shipping until I saw when the date for arrival. I figured no reason I needed it 2 days early when I could get it shipped for free for 4 days.
  7. I had to chuckle to myself when I read the heading for this thread. I have never before this year had my kis write out a wish list. My DS is almost 13 and DD is 7. My DD is super easy, but now that my son is getting older it is starting to get really hard. So one day I asked my DS to write out a wish list and explained that it doesn't mean you get what you wish for. I just wanted some ideas from him. Well my DD came in and asked what he was doing and so I explained he was making out his wish list for Santa. She said that she wanted to do it to. So here is my DD's list: 1. pink pants 2. Doll 3. green pants 4. pink hat 5. soccer ball 6. purple sweater 7. pretty gymnastic suit 8. soft sweater (notice she didn't put a color on that one LOL) This was all she asked for. I loved the fact she even had the colors she wanted for clothes. Shoot, I remember at her age sitting down with the Sears Christmas catalog and drawing a circle around everything I wanted!! Out of her list, she only asked for 2 toys.....what 7 yro does that????
  8. LOL....I was thinking today maybe I should give my son his new winter coat when I saw we were under a lake effect snow watch!!!
  9. We have a wonderful female mail carrier. Last year we had bought our house just a couple months before Christmas. She would always go out of her way to make sure we were well taken care of. We gave her last year a gift card to Bath and Body works. I am thinking this year I will do a Target GC instead for 20.00 dollars. We also always tip our trash men and the lady that cuts our hair. I think it's important not to forget these people. It's just a little way to say thank you for all you do.
  10. I was already thinking the same thing!! Unless I find some great deals in the up coming ads, I might be doing MOST of my shopping online this season. My gas is now up over 3.26 and is climbing. The 3.26 gas station was out of the regular so you would have had to use the next one which was 3.49!!!!!!! It may just be cheaper to stay home and shop this year. 8o(
  11. I'm actually thinking of putting up my outdoor Christmas lights this weekend before it gets ice cold. ( Of course it is set to snow tonight LOL) I will not turn them on until after Thanksgiving. The first year we moved here, my DH was deployed and my parents came up for a visit. my WONDERFUL dad helped me do up the front of my house in lights. Mind you, it was about 15 below and that was NOT with the wind chill factor. I learned my lesson that year!! I always try to get them done ahead of time now so that I don't go through that ever again LOL!!!
  12. LOL!!!! My daughters American Girl doll arrived yesterday and she is STILL sitting in my kitchen on the counter.....haven't moved her yet and my daughter hasn't said a word about what is in the box. Guess I should think of hiding her I suppose.
  13. Feel free to come do my shopping for me...PLEASE!!!!! I finally got both of my kids to write down their wish lists. They understand it's just a "wish List", but it gives me a pretty good guide. DS is now at the age that almost everything on his list is expensive...OUCH!
  14. I work at the school here, so I don't have to worry about this!!
  15. I am soooo excited. I am headed home for this BF and hope to talk my family into heading up there at midnight. They live less then 30 minutes away. I figure we can go home after Thanksgiving dinner and get a good nap in before heading out. ANyone know how great the sales were there last year??
  16. I know that 2 years ago when I did my shopping in PA, I went to the Disney store and made out like a bandit for my kids. They had HUGE sales. I was able to get several regular presents and a bunch of stocking stuffers!!
  17. Thank you to everyone for all of their GREAT suggestions!!! Big Props to babymains for asking the kids she teaches!!! I think I could about thick to things on that list and my DS would be beyond thrilled. I love the ideas from people about doing cool things with gift cards also. It's funny now that he is this age, it is MUCH more expensive then when he was little LOL!!! I guess that is just a part of growing up though.
  18. I have always had it done this way growing up and still do to this day and I am married with kids LOL. It's just how it was growing up and now my DH and I do the same. I can remember 1 year as a teen that my folks didn't do this and I was actually upset. Lets just say that it never happened again LOL!! I'm glad that my DH and I have continued this tradtion with our kids. :)
  19. I am liking the idea of some gift cards, but are there some fun ways to give them with something else little? I saw one person say they give a gift card in the pocket of a shirt...any other ideas?? I'd hate a Christmas with just gift cards LOL!!!
  20. Please let me know how you like it after it arrives!! I think I am leaning towards QVC right now.
  21. Does anyone know where I can get a decent looking fake tree for under 300 without having to get it on BF? I've seen some nice looking trees on QVC before, but I can't remember how much they were going for. I'd like to be able to buy one that is prelit, looks close to being real and is dumby proof for putting up. Also, I'd like it to be at least 7 feet as my living room has a very tall ceiling.THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!!
  22. LOL...should have been at my house for the first dance then. My son had his 2 best friends over and I took them to the dance. I walked into his room and about gagged from the AXE body spray.... WOW was it strong. I think the 3 of them used an entire spray can!!!!
  23. Does anyone have a good suggestion for some things that a new teenage boy would like without haivng to rob a bank LOL?? He's asked for 2 video games and a Eagles jersey. That's it. I am pulling teeth to get some other ideas. He already has a MP3 player and an XBOX 360 and Playstation 2. I refuse to buy ANOTHER game system. I know he'd like the WII, but I told him he can sell his PS2 and games and put that towards one. I'd love some ideas that are less then 40 bucks. I know he enjoys cd's and he loves to read. Are there any good books out there that are coming out soon? He enjoys books like Eragon and any kind of Non fiction military stuff. Now that he's getting to this age, it's getting harder and MUCH more expensive. Even some great stocking stuffer ideas would help!!
