Perimeter Perusing at Target (Target Clearance Deals) - 2008

THANKS! I checked Walmart.com, but the search came up empty. TRUS online had them for over $20 (I think). I am using my 10% rewards today, so maybe I will just buy them. TRUS online had excellent reviews for the dolls. -

I found the playsets to these really cute dolls today: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41sKGHInOpL._AA280_.jpg ...anyway, I'm so mad at myself for NOT buying the dolls when Amazon had them at 70% off. I just waited too long to combine with more to make a FREE shipment. Anyway, Target now has them for $14.99 (not on sale). The dolls names are Sophie Kate (My 2 year olds name is Sophie and my 6 year old is Kate and both are blonde just like the doll!) They also have a dark haired Olivia (and my middle girl is named Olivia. She has dark hair)! HOW FUN is that?! Does anyone have these dolls? They look very cute and cuddly (no battery compartments that make them hard). I'm just wondering if they are worth $14.99. I picked up the 3 different outfits that Target clearanced and only paid $2.48 for each one. I guess I could justify paying full price for the doll since I got the accessory packs cheap, eh? If someone has them and can let me know whether you like them, I would really appreciate it! THX -

I bought the Island Princess dollhouse vanity on Amazon during their wild sale (although I STILL could have gotten it cheaper at Target today! :>( I assembled it several weeks ago and it is soooo cute. I also put the throne together... another THING that I could have gotten cheaper at TArget ARGHH. The two things together are really cute. The vanity comes with a little stool but the throne chair sits up to it as well and together the vanity and the throne are SOOO darn cute. My 4 year old is getting both for her birthday in Feb. Bummer I just didn't wait to get the set at Target. It would have saved me about $25-$30. I guess having them delivered to my door for free instead of wrestling with them at the store was probably worth it. (The vanity is pretty big.) --especially since I had 2 kids with me today. Anyway I just thought I'd give my 2 cents on how cute both pieces are. I have no idea how durable they are though. Darn things will probably fall apart 5 minutes after playing with them! LOL -

[quote name= I would have loved to find a globe for my ds8 but the only one I had seen on the shelf was gone by the time I got there.[/quote] I took a lot when I was there at 8:30, but I promise I didn't take a globe !LOL;) This was the first time I had been to the Olathe ST to look at their toys in a very long time. I couldn't believe how much they had. -

I don't know about anyone else, but things went quite differently this year for me! WOW. I went early, but figured that I would no way see the toy markdowns yet. (I do morning carpool and it is 39 degrees and raining here, AND I have my 2 and 4 year olds with me all day!) Our cleaning lady comes in the morning, and I just needed to be out of the house this morning. I was really wishing that the toys would have been marked down YESTERDAY since I was kid-less but boo hoo for me, eh! Anyway, in the past (for me anyway) getting to the store by 8:30 would be waaay too early to see any markdowns. At the very least, the teams would be IN the aisle trying to get them done. WELL, this year. I walk in at 8:30 and ALL the aisles are done and the signs are up and they are PACKED with toys. Me and another lady are the only ones there. It was so empty that I actually had time to go get another cart since my kids took up most of the room in the one I had. THen I went to another store and was there by 9:30. Same thing ALL the toys were marked. Of course by now there were lots more people, so my 2 cart stint was over. But that was okay cause most of everything I was looking for was at the first one I went to (Olathe Super T). I went to 5 stores and they were all marked and signed... even the store that is HORRIBLY behind all the time (Ward Pkwy) was done. So, I'm just curious if our Target stores in KC finally got smart and decided that toy markdowns should be done prior to the store opening... fewer angry mobs (and moms) and much easier on the markdown teams. It was lots of fun. I had my 10% rewards to use today AND my $95 in Fisher Price recall vouchers, which BTW I used without any problem on toys that WEREN'T Mattel/Fisher Price, etc.. Oh, I did run into snags on a couple more of the toy coupons though. The "receipt expired" diddy came up again on the IM-ME AND the Tamagochis. Really baffles me as to why Target tags certain ones as "expired" in their system and not others? They are ALL expired!! I found 2 of those Loving Mommy Real Me dolls (??) I think they were around $55 reg. price marked down to $13.xx. I used the $10 off coupon and got them for an amazing price. I still can't believe I made it to 5 stores with my toddlers in tow. I had some major bribing. They each got to pick a toy off the shelf and I promised a fast food lunch (yuk). Hope everyone has nice finds today! If you are in KC, the Mission store and Ward Parkway had a lot of stuff. Olathe ST had the most, but I would suspect that store gets heavy shopping traffic and will probably be licked pretty clean very soon. -

Nothing in KC so far. One of the stores was just marking the Hello Kitty toasters, clocks, etc. in domestics... isn't that an area scheduled for Tuesday markdowns? It appears as though most stores around here are a day behind on their markdowns perhaps. -

The very best way to do it is to take down the DCPI number of something that you KNOW the price of and when you call CS, give them that number and ask them to tell you the price. That way, you will know whether it is 75 or not. That's the only way I trust what CS is saying about markdowns. -

I grew up 10 minutes from Okaboji right on the Minnesota border! WHERE is there a Target up there? My parents would LOVE to know about it? -

I hope all the toys go today too. Just remember that toys are just part of the general markdown team's daily tasks and many times toys aren't marked down til mid morning. Although if they have a ton of them, I have found some markdown teams working early too (in years past anyway). Most of the time around here though, you are better off going at around 9 or 10 if you want to catch them in the aisle. I just didn't want people to think that the toy clearance is like the holiday clearance where you go in and viola! all the signs are changed and the toys are marked. (I s'pose that could happen if they start working before the store opens, but that has never happened to me.) During this time of year, I have also encountered pricing teams that actually will shut down the aisle and not allow any shoppers in until they are finished. Us poor mommies just stand there waiting patiently. I have also encountered very friendly price teams that let you shop the aisle and will actually scan and change the stickers for you right there. Good luck! I do think this is the week... maybe today, maybe tomorrow. -

... Oh brother. I mean REALLY?? Is that what she expected Target to do? Give her practically everything she had already purchased for nearly free? It's the risk you run when you buy something. Most likely, those items she was trying to return/rebuy would not have been on the shelves at 90% off. For me personally, 75% is as good as it gets for something I want. Mostly because if you aren't there when "the doors open" or the signs go up for 90% off, it's gone in a flash. Unless you are incredibly lucky to find the store bringing out pallets from the back. During 90% off, I find myself just picking up "crap" that I totally don't need, but can't resist for practically free (someone I know will be able to use it!) I for one will be sort of glad to see all the holiday stuff GO. It's fun while it lasts, but I'm ready to be done seeing Christmas stuff. -

Ya, (for me personally) I really wouldn't mention this forum to employees as a way to secure something for a certain price. If they are questioning you in the first place, telling them that you saw it on an internet chat area will only make them roll their eyes even more. You might have better luck with the "I got it at the Target store down the street for this price,"... but even still, anyone who works there will most likely just tell you the standard "all Targets are priced differently" line (even though holiday clearance SHOULD really all be the same from store to store.) The way that you were treated was horrible. I guess there are just some plain old unhappy people working even at our beloved Target! -

Very patiently waiting for those Shutterfly box sets to go lower than 30%. Anyone seen them marked down to 1/2 yet? If you're in KC and you happen to see them go lower, would you post please?! THANKS!!:) I really thought they would go lower today cause they have been at 30% off for a long time, but no luck. UGH. -

I don't either. I mean if you want to be a shopper, than quit your job and be a shopper. If you want to work, than try to put a smile on your face and work. Everyone is entitled to a bad day I guess. I notice that the cashiers get a little crabbier during the 90% off sale. That day they were bringing out household paper goods on pallets from the back, my cashier was not at all pleased. I suppose if those things had been dug out earlier, there would have been more of a chance for the employees to get them. I don't ask for much of anything from the cashiers when someone is ringing my stuff out at 90% off. I try to make it a point not to bring out the coupons either. Anything to just get in and out quickly. Oh well, everyone is entitled to a big bunch of luck every once and awhile. The ornery cashiers will get their lucky days too! -

I DO use them, and I know there are people who probably think I should be jailed, but I have never had a problem and most of the cashiers at my area Targets never even look at the coupons let alone the expiration dates. There are many shoppers who have problems using expireds though, so it isn't necessarily a slam dunk. It just depends on your store. -

To everyone who is sad cause their stores didn't hit 90% today. At least you have the benefit of being at "your" store bright and early tomorrow, cause I would imagine that most of the stores that didn't hit 90 today will tomorrow, right? There are probably lots of people who DON'T read these boards and at least you will be ahead of them!! -

ALSO, Just so you know if you ARE going to try to use the coupon. I have had a problem with the Fisher Price Digital Arts and Crafts studio coupon. For whatever reason, when it scans, "COUPON IS EXPIRED" flashes across the register. It was the only time I've ever had that happen to me. At first, I thought it was just something that was specific to that one store I was visiting, so I tried it again at a different store, and it happened again. So, I threw it out. I have used the Hasbro toy coupon and the Little Mommy coupon without any problems (and on ANY of their products, not just the ones listed on the coupon). I am saving some of the others for when the toys drop cheaper. I just thought I would give a heads up on the Digital Arts and Crafts coupon cause they would not take it for me at all. -

Here is the link to the Target website toy coupons... They are EXPIRED, so if you have a problem with that than don't bother checking it out. However, IMO--Target can't be that worried about it since they are still available on their site! http://sites.target.com/site/en/spot/page.jsp?title=toy_coupons_main -

I meant to add that I also saw the popcorn poppers, popcorn salts/seasonings, popcorn with oil packets, nut roasters and carmel apple dippers for 75% off today too. I think these were put out around the holidays. -

If anyone is interested... I also found the LPS Around the world marked to 30% off ($17.xx down from a regular price of $25.) The November Catalog toy coupons, which are still out on the Target website by the way, WORKED on those sets. I bought 2 and with the $5 off coupon, they rang up to $12.xx. Nice price for that Pet Shop thingy! (At least for our house, Pet Shops are like gold.) -

[quote also the other day i found a Rival oven roaster for $8.74, 75% off. This is a xmas gift for my sister for next year. since she doesnt have the use of an oven and therefore cant cook anything in the oven, this will be great for her since it looks like it can just be plugged in and has the heat temps on the front of the roaster. I also saw lots of these in the Targets around KC. Although I just couldn't ever imagine myself cooking that much food, so I passed. -

Are you in KC? I witnessed something this morning that I have never seen in the many, many years I have been shopping Target clearance. Oh MY! I went out to a store that I hadn't been to yet (Chipman Road ST). I didn't get there until about 10:30, but they are 90% off TODAY, and they were hauling loads of stuff out from the back. And I mean GOOD stuff. Boxes of Solo plates and cups, Dixie plates, Hefty plates, Kleenex, Vanity Fair napkins. I couldn't believe it. I would have been thrilled to find that stuff for 75% off!!! There were people who had been there since 8 and said they have just been hauling things out since 9 a.m. I mean there was so much for everyone. I think everybody there got more than they wanted. Others were taking plates sets, beautiful charger sets, comfortor sets. I got a lot of Cranium and travel games, baby bratz. It was like they were stocking the shelves BEFORE Christmas!! It was wildly fun. The only thing better would have been if there would have only been about 6 of us all waiting instead of 40! Many people who didn't have kiddos with them (unlike me!) had 4 carts full. I could only manage 1 cart with my 2 year old, but I got plenty of stuff. I don't know of other stores around here that went to 90 today, but if you were going to check Chipman Road tomorrow morning, you might just x that one off your list. Unless they keep hauling stuff out. Someone at checkout said they were done though when I was checking out at 11:30. I bought $550 worth of stuff for $55. -
