  1. If it's on sale, and included in the weekly ad, employees don't receive the discount (which means the F&F promotions don't receive it either). I was told that if it's on sale, but not in the ad, the discount can be applied.
  2. I purchased one on the day of release from Blockbuster. I actually read about it on Amazon, since they were out of stock with no known available date as well. Of course, all of the local stores were sold out, but I called up Blockbuster (closest one is about 20 minutes away, didn't want to make the trip to come out empty-handed) and they had one left and held it for me as well. So, if you can't find it anywhere else, try Blockbuster :)
  3. Just an update that I received my 5 free blu-rays from purchasing the PS3. I purchased through Amazon, and the receipt was marked as Delaware. I live in NY, and used my home address as the shipping address. My blu-rays arrived a couple of weeks ago :)
  4. Amazon is weird about charging. Sometimes I'll get charged by them almost immediately, sometimes not until when the item(s) ship, and then sometimes not until after the item(s) ship!
  5. Yeah, I'll wait it out and see if they show up. The only one I would have purchased was Pirates, and I went ahead and ordered that today from Deep Discount since they had B1G1F, so I got 1 & 2 for $24.xx shipped. If the freebies come in, then I can give that copy to someone I suppose.
  6. A heads up that Deep Discount has the same offer, and has another B1G1 offer with other BR titles. Prices look like they may be cheaper on DD, and the shipping is free. I don't think you'd get the $10 MIR, but the prices probably make up for it. deepdiscount.com
  7. I was under the impression that a copy of the receipt would be okay, but it had to be the actual UPC code. What I'm worried about is that in the fine print, it says that the receipt must be from the same state as the shipping address. I purchased my PS3 off of Amazon to avoid paying $40+ on tax, and I had $55 in Amazon certificates, so my 80gb cost around $445 shipped. The Amazon receipt is marked as DE, and I'm in NY. I went ahead and sent it all in anyway, and am hoping that I may see the free BR discs. I suppose if they deny me, then it won't be that bad since there were only 2 on the list that I actually wanted, and only 1 that I would actually buy.
  8. Sony released the 80gb in August to replace the 60gb model, and then dropped the price to $499 (from $599) about a month or so ago. The 40gb model ($399) was released a couple of weeks ago. I got my PS3 about 1-2 weeks ago (80gb) and am very pleased with my purchase. The graphics appear to be better on the PS3 than on the 360 from what I have seen so far. I also picked up the Spider-Man Trilogy on Blu-Ray, and put on the third movie for a quick preview, and was amazed with the picture (it's making my HD channels look more like SD these days, lol).
  9. Yes, the 80gb is worth the extra $100. You are not going to be able to play the PS2 games on the 40gb. Not all PS2 games will play perfectly on the 80gb, but there has been a link posted already where you can check to see if the games play and/or if they have any problems when played. As for accessories, you're going to want to pick up an HDMI cable if you have a TV that supports it. My 80gb only came with A/V cables, but I didn't even bother to check the picture on those, and simply connected it to the HDMI cable that I use for the upconvert DVD player. If you have a surround sound setup, then you'll want to pick up another HDMI cable (if your receiver supports it), or an optical cable to get the best sound quality that you can (and when it comes to playing Blu-Ray, you'll want the sound :)). Other than that, you'll want another controller -- or if one will be fine for a while, Sony has announced plans to release the DualShock 3 controllers (will have the old PS2 rumble feature), but I don't think those will be in stores until next year.
  10. I'm pretty sure you can play the original Xbox games on the Premium/Pro 360. Now that there are the newer models, I'm not sure on that. The Arcade bundle has replaced the core system.
  11. Last night's purchases: 1x Pal Around Spider-Man doll (18 months +) - $4.98 (75%) 2x M&M's (50%) 2x Crayola crafty cooking kits - $1.99 each (50%) 2x Pilsbury Halloween Funfetti Cake Mix - $0.49 each (50%) 2x Foam Kits (design your own...) - $1.24 each (75%) 1x Halloween 4pk Paddle balls - $0.99 (50%)
  12. The WM deal is only about a dollar lower, so I don't see why they'd list it as sold out just to keep from matching the price.
  13. GTA IV will be released on both platforms. The 360 will have exclusive downloadable content, if you're into that. Also, the game has been delayed and won't be released until spring of '08 now.
  14. The 60gb and 80gb both cost $499, and the 80gb comes with a game. Some retailers are bundling an extra with the 60gb to get them off the shelves, but whatever is left on shelves is all there is so it's a YMMV. Or, if you don't care about playing PS2 games on it, you can get the 40gb for $399 (releases at the end of the week).
  15. I'd also say to steer clear of the WM one. We had gotten my niece one a couple of years ago. I had the job of assembling it, which was a hassle as the pieces were so thin that they bent in the box, and I had to try to re-shape them while putting them together. It was a good price, but there is absolutely no longevity in that one. A few months later, my sister picked her up one of the Little Tikes ones when it was on sale at TRU. Cost more than the WM, but it's the way to go as it can withstand years of abuse at the hands of little ones! If there are any yard sales still going on, you may want to check as you might find one for a steal :)
  16. I picked up a pack of Energizer rechargeables at Sam's Club a while back for the Wii remotes. It was less than $30, had the charger, about 4-8 AA and some AAA's :)
  17. Thanks :) Signup link, btw: http://www.kbclubhouse.com/
  18. Yes, the GC games can be played on the Wii. However, you'll need to get the GC controllers (you can have 1-4), and then if you open the cover on the top of your Wii (if you have it on the stand), then the ports to plug the GC controllers are in there. I believe that's where the GC memory cards go as well. You'll be able to find good deals on GC games since they're "old" now, and new GC games aren't produced anymore.
  19. The Color Wonder we got was the "Dora Explores the Alphabet" Activity Pad w/ 6 markers. It was in with the school supplies, I did not check the regular aisle. 21. I'm not sure as far as the best deal goes... But, my brother gave my mom a Kodak one and it's pretty nice. Then my mom got our grandmother a Polaroid one and it felt really cheap compared to the Kodak. There weren't as many options with it, and the frame itself felt like it could break very easily.
  22. You'll need at least one extra controller and nunchuk, but I'd advise getting all 4 controllers (it comes with one, so you'd need to get 3 more). You could get away with only 2 nunchuks for now with all 4 remotes since there isn't all that much (if anything) that you can use 4 nunchuks for right now. As far as games, this is what I have ATM: - Wii Sports -- both will enjoy it, and you'll most likely enjoy it as well (reason for getting all 4 controllers, lol, because you'll most likely want to play along) - Wii Play -- really only played it once, but purchased it for the extra controller since it was impossible to get just the controllers back then - Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam -- it's a lot different than most TH titles, but fun regardless and both may enjoy it - Zelda -- your older son will probably enjoy it more, but from how much I've played so far your younger son shouldn't have much trouble with the gameplay itself - Super Paper Mario -- older son may enjoy, younger son may be able to play but there is a lot of reading involved so he may not be interested in it - Mario Party 8 -- older son may enjoy it but may get bored of it faster, younger son should enjoy - Wario Ware Smooth Moves -- both should enjoy, and it's a riot to watch others play - Big Brain Academy -- both should be able to enjoy - Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz - should be enjoyable to both As for BF deals, don't count on it. The system will have only been out for a year by BF, and it's still not on store shelves (at least around here). If you find one, or live in an area where it is on shelves, then I'd also advise picking it up now. I know it'll be on a lot of holiday wish lists this year, so another shortage (or continuation of the shortage) is to be expected.
  23. Also have not heard anything about this. If she wants a Barbie house, the dream house is available again, and it's $99.99 (!!) I remember this being $200 or more when I was a child. I'm sure if you could find a good coupon code, it would be a good choice. Otherwise, there is the Forever Barbie house which is around $30 at Target, Amazon, KB (web site, don't know if they have it in stores), which is reminiscent of the fold-n-fun house from when I was a kid.
  24. You should consider the DS over the GBA, especially at your child's age. If it were a younger child, I'd say to go for the GBA SP, but new titles are not really available for the GBA (if they still make any new titles for it at this point, I'm sure it is very limited). There is a large assortment of titles available, but since your child will want to continue on to "bigger and better" games, then the best investment would to purchase either the DS or PSP. I'd opt for the DS at his age, since the PSP is geared more for an older crowd and you'll be able to find a lot more titles that your son will enjoy on the DS.
