  1. I fully admit to taking my DS13 & DS14 to Walmart at 10:00 pm. Home at 11, and supervised at all times by myself or my DD23. We encountered a lot more kids that night than any other year. From newborns , toddlers to school age kids. It isn't something I would do.
  2. My biggest concern with the tablets are the are internet at home. I need to see if they have it. Also the cost of books. I have a kindle, and I know there are free books, but I don't want to get a gift that keeps costing them $$ to enjoy when that is so limited. I will bw finding out more info next week. I went to BBW yesterday and a girly run of nail polish and such. I have ordered new outfits for each. I have kind of been their fairy Godmother the entire school year helping with coats, boots and clothing. I think every little girl would love a new outfit at Christmas!! I do have jewelry making kits on my list as well. I also want to check and se if the grandparents need anything. I can keep giving, but I would love the girls to be able to get their caretakers something so they can feel the magic of Christmas as well. I hope to be able to take them shopping and maybe I can see more ideas for them.
  3. I saw people that I know would never have come out at 5:00a.m. I do believe Walmart brought a "new" demographic to shopping last night. I have witnessed many things over the years, and it has not always been "bad" behavior. There were several years that I saw amazing compassionate things. I have seen people give other shoppers doorbuster items from their carts they might of missed to help make a child happy. I have seen able bodied shoppers help less able bodied get their items. I saw no "good will" last night. I don't know if it was the earlier time to start shopping or a simple trend in what to expect, but I will rethink all my shopping next year.
  4. It breaks my heart that BF has come to this. I posted in another thread that my ds13 came out of the video games with a black eye and cut face, and fingernail scratches on his cheek. I am horrified at that, let alone what happened in other places.
  5. I am lucky enough to be able to help take care of Christmas for 2 12yo twin girls this year. I would love to come up with hp touch pads,( Brad if you have any extra I will buy them off you!) but I am realizing that isn't going to happen! I thought about pandigital ones, but need back up ideas. One loves to read, the other loves everything. While it seems easy enough, I am struggling with ideas! I haven't had a 12yo girl in 13 years!LOL!
  6. Sadly my ds13 ended up with a black eye and cuts to his face because a jerk rushed and shoved into the video games displays. This a!!hole almost knocked over a guy that was at least 6'7" and huge, that was next to my son. It was awful! I have been shopping BF for over 20 years, and have never seen it like this. Walmart security asked my son if he was ok and needed medical attention, and called in the police to help at midnight. My ds13 is 5'10' so I felt ok letting him try for his games as all my previous years have never been like this.
  7. My ds13 was between the games and some jerk from behind shoved people as he dove in from behind me, and the display landed on the floor. My ds13 came out of the dogpile with a black eye and cut on his face. One wonderful (huge) guy next to him picked up the jerk and got him out of the mess, but the damage was alrady done. I watched it in slow motion, I swear and it hit me that my baby was in there. I was sick, as being a small town in Utah it has NEVER been violent before. We are rethinking ever doing it again, and I have been a diehard for 20 years!!
  8. It is online right now at amazon....as a lightning deal!
  9. It should count that I have never left!!
  10. Sold out online!
  11. You better!! I am hoping it has something worth showing up for and they realize how my shopping list grows the longer I get to look at the ad!
  12. Ours was a joke as well! Nothing set up, no employees had a clue! I got the food processer and scanned it to make sure it had the correct price. What a complete waste of advertising, or lack of!
  13. Well add my ds13 to the list. This year so far it has been "10#'s of Reeses peanut butter cups", thats ALL! He doesn't want anything for Christmas. I guess he has everything else he could possibly want! My oldest son when he was 3 asked for a vacuum, and a white lion. When I was little I asked for a case of v8 juice every year and some salami from a deli in San Fransico that I loved. My DH would tease my older kids every year he wanted a new truck, he got keys in the very bottem of his stocking one year to his "new truck".
  14. I use a product called "deco poly mesh" on my tree every year. I am a tree freak! I am lucky enough to have a 12' tree that has to look like it came out of a catalog or department store display! My DH tolerates my needs on this! Try searching for some pictures of trees decorated with the stuff. I love using it in all of my decorating at the holidays. It is cheap, and a lot of possibilities and color options.
  15. We are faced with "less magic" at our home as well. My youngest is 13 and we will not be lucky enough to have our grand daughter until later Christmas day. I have suggested trips, going to Disneyland, ANYTHING to try to keep us busy!LOL! I am hoping for snow and a good movie that we all can enjoy watching!
  16. Thanks! Sadly they need coats today! We dropped to below freezing yesterday and they do not have any. I have them on my shopping list for the weekend to take to them Monday. I think I will be picking sets of stuff up for next year as I come across great sales. I have paying full price for coats! :)
  17. I have been struggling the last few years to renew my passion for the holidays. I am very blessed in life with a healthy , mostly happy family. My extended family sucks most of the joy out of the season most years, and to find joy I have found it in other places. I recently changed locations of employment and have had 2 little girls enter my world. They are the most delightful girls, and very much in need. I feel like I have a purpose again. I am excited to have met them, and excited in hopes to help make their worlds a little brighter this season!
  18. Heck I have been here since 2004! It has gone by so fast!

    amazon questions?

I would love to know if there is a tutorial as well! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Amazon, and seriously order something almost daily that is something I honestly need or find an awesome deal. I put things in my cart and as soon as I visit my shopping cart, it alerts of price change or availability. I will be placing 2 larger order on Tuesday for some electronics for my boys that happen to have some great pricing promotions, and I do not have to worry about fighting the crowds later.
  20. I really tried to hold back on my boys, and take care of everyone else, including the married kids and grandkids. I am really going into stress overload about it though. My ds13 actually came up with an idea today, and my ds14 might get a new shotgun. Kind of boring to me, but it seems like he has everything else. I need to get moving!
  21. I know I am out of my league to try to win one, so if you choose to offer them up for sale, I will proudly BUY one! After 7 years of this place feeling like "home" and not winning, I would be excited to get one any way I can!
  22. Mine should be here next week. I hope they are good stuff!
  23. I am thinking I need to stay in Utah and do my usual. I don't think I need any larger crowds than I already do, or traffic!
  24. I need help on advice about BF shopping in Las vegas. My DD23 is trying talk me into preparing Thanksgiving dinner at her home, and shopping there. I usually have it at my home in Utah and our only local retailer in Walmart, so I do a lot of my shopping online too. I just want to consider all options before I decide! TIA!
