Kmart had a gorgeous tree with GE multicolored lights on it..very bright I think the sign said they were LCD or something. It was $299..too rich for my blood. We are not going to have a tree this year. DS is coming home 12/23 late at night and I always take the tree down Christmas night anyways so not worth it for 2 days.

There is a very wealthy exclusive neighborhood in my town (I do not live there for sure ) anyways people from all over would drop their kids off at this neighborhood to get the "good stuff". A few years back they ended up hiring cops to patrol both entrances to the subdivision to stop people that didn't live there from coming in. I think 13 or so is a good age to stop and I do like the time limits. I myself will not answer the door after 8pm for trick or treaters..too late. I am thinking it will be a PITA this year since Halloween is on a Friday night

Monkey Bread 4 tubes of rolls (not buttermilk) 1/2 C sugar 1/4 C cinnamon 1/2 lb butter 2 tbsp cinnamon 1/4 C sugar cut rolls into quarters roll in cinn/sugar mixture, some people just dump them into a bag with the cinn/sugar. Melt the butter adding in the 2 tbsp cinn and 1/4 cup sugar. Put the rolls into the bundt pan (well greased) just layer and then pour the butter mix over the top for 30 mins at 350 degrees. It is so yummy. I usually add some vanilla to the butter mixture for more flavor. I have a friend who uses the cinnamon rolls in the tubes instead. It is called Monkey Bread as you eat it by pulling at it and pulling it apart (like a Monkey would ) This stuff is sooo good and so fattening..my guys really look forward to it every Christmas.

We do the same exact thing as Conj. One by one, being sure to thank and acknowledge the gift. As soon as the gift is opened however the wrapping paper/trash goes immediately into the trash bag. Two different times things got accidently thrown out in the chaos with paper everywhere so I am adamant about this too..like Elena. We open our Stockings Christmas night...it gives them something to look forward to and then it is not "over" in 20 minutes So all day something you may have really wanted you may have but it could be in your stocking. One year my Dad put a note in my stocking that my new skis were in the hall closet:fluffy: I just thought I did not get them that year, so it is fun to make the anticipation last, imho

Xbox won out now they say maybe PS3
tokanm replied to lincolndog's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
iirc Xbox 360 has way more games than PS3. As I have stated before my DS is a hard core gamer and he thinks PS3 is not worth it at all. We have ALL the systems except PS3, if that helps -
The holidays are always tough when you have lost a loved one. I lost my Mom when I was just 18 yrs old but I know she would not have wanted us to be sad..she would want us to remember the happy times. I also have lost a brother and all 4 grandparents so I can relate (as I am sure we all can) In my heart I think they are looking down on us and wanting us to celebrate and be happy. I also think and hope that we will all be together one day. Hang in there and try to think how your loved one would have wanted you to spend your holidays. Maybe try to do something in their memory..hang an ornament, make their favorite recipe, play their favorite song etc, etc

Is it a "full" membership or one of those day pass ones? You know where you have to pay the 10 or 20% surcharge?

I love doing the stocking!!! Our tradition however is they cannot be opened until right before bed on Christmas night. I remember feeling sad that after the mad rush of opening the gifts it was "over" in minutes This gives everyone something to look forward too. Last year my DS gf (who lived with us) wanted a blue Ipod in the worst way...my son decided to torment her and he put it in the bottom of her stocking (all loaded with her favorite songs and an Itunes card)..so the poor thing all day thought she didn't get the one thing she wanted..and she was so happy she was in tears on CHristmas night about 11pm when we opened them.

I am going to try to make lasagna for Christmas instead of ham this year Also other than salad and garlic bread..what do you serve with it? I will be all set for desserts..trifle..strawberries..whipped cream, angel food cake, vanilla pudding all layered

Now BB here is horrible and Circuit City is much better. I went into BB 2 years ago to buy a desktop and finally left after 20-30 mins when I could not get anyone to wait on me

tokanm replied to ixrayu05's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
I have AAA..don't know of any deals per se but with the AAA card you can get so many discounts at stores, restuarants etc, etc. If you you it even once it is worth the investment The big discounts are on trips, theme parks and movies. -

I have this in pink...works great -
Has anybody done this? Can you get decent prices/items? I just don't think I will be up to the all night..out in the cold waiting this year What stores participate in online sales on BF? Does Amazon do anything special? Paying for shipping may be worth not fighting the cold and the crowds

None here either. I love to browse through catalogs and dream

We also go here every year, although I swear it is the coldest place on earth I know it gets awards for its decorations/lights on a national basis www.lasalette-shrine.org then click on Christmas It is beautiful and the trip is always followed up with hot chocolate to help warm up

We open one gift and always read The Night Before Christmas. They get annoyed now with this or so they say..but deep down I know they love this tradition and will carry it on with their own families
