I was there when they opened this morning, to get the tree. I debated hard about buying it, because the one they had displayed looked horrible. But I went ahead and got it thinking they just hadn't fluffed it enough. Went to a different HD looking for lights the first didn't have, and looked at their display of the tree. It was a little better, but still not a great tree. Ended up at a 3rd HD with my sister, and looked at THEIR display. Took the tree back to the first HD on my way home. ♀ Their $80 tree is usually a pretty nice tree, but this year's not so much. I did buy a ton of batteries and a couple plastic totes, so it wasn't a complete bust. I never did see the lights I was looking for. One associate told me she thought they sold out yesterday. You know, for the sale that started today. LOL

So, I had nothing from this ad on my list. And yet, I bought a TV, a vacuum, and a shop vac. At least the shop vac was a Christmas gift. LOL

Sooooo. I have all the names assigned and after I started sending them out I realized I HAVEN'T FILLED OUT MY INFO SHEET! Yep, I missed the deadline ♀. I intended to use last year's anyway, but we had a big ice storm this week so the servers are down at my office and I can't access my stuff from home. LOL. I think I need to take a break. It's not for everyone. I understand the melancholy with how things have changed and are still changing. Several years ago, when they started the sales at midnight, then 10:00pm Thursday, then earlier and earlier, I hated it! I still hate it! BUT we figured out how to make it work and we still have so much fun every year. It is still my absolute favorite time of the year. This year, things are changing again, through no one's fault, and I find myself getting really down about it. But, the only thing that stays the same is everything changes. My sister, daughter, and I have agreed we will find a way to make it fun this year just like before. Prayerfully, next year will be back to semi-normal, but let's face it, this is going to usher in another big change. Maybe I'll hate it. Maybe I'll love it. But I'm going to make darn sure I have fun with it.

I've been debating buying a new tree this year and wondered if they would have their $79 one.

Our first stop every year is the 24 hour Sonic for pop. After shopping, we go get my mom, and our kids that don't shop with us, and we go eat at Denny's. I'm going to miss my grand slam breakfast this year .

I live in a very small town, and I work from home, so I think (hope!) I'll be able to get in and out of my voting place pretty quickly on the 3rd. I've never seen a big crowd of people there, but people may be more motivated to vote this year. I agree with the overall sentiment - I don't care, so I won't ask, who you vote for - JUST VOTE! It's a right, it's a privilege, and it's a responsibility!

Yeah, I think a lot of us are just mentally drained. On top of everything no one has control over (the pandemic), we are being bombarded by hateful campaign ads (from local elections, all the way to the top). Maybe after the election, moods will improve, and the holiday spirit will show up. And, in plenty of time for Black Friday!
