  1. Why won't Kohl's put your $300 charge on hold until this is resolved? It's not logical for them to expect you to pay the bill when they themselves are saying they are researching your package.
  2. What I saw in that thread is that they DO price match as long as the price is stated. The example in that thread said they had to get a manager to OK it and the manager wasn't happy that the cashier had refused to PM because there was a % off listed (which was irrelevant since the price was explicitly stated).
  3. 1 for 1 seems to be the fair way. I would have no problem if someone stood in front of me for 8 hours and at the last minute they gave their spot to someone else. I would not be happy if an additional person showed up later and stood with them, no matter what they said they were doing.
  4. I'm here all year, too, it's a nice place to be.
  5. Is it true that if the ad you want to PM has specific hours for an item (like 5-8 AM) then you can only PM @ Walmart during those same hours for that item?
  6. I don't look at my post count either, especially since the system doesn't count the posts in the Men Only private forum.
  7. I suspect it means "dear daughters"
  8. Do you have the paperwork from the extended warranty? What's the exact name of the company?
  9. You could ask just about anyone I have ever given a gift to. I would rather have a root canal than try to choose a gift for someone. It's a skill I totally lack, and I know it. It got to the point where my wife, who is the kindest and most loving person you'd ever meet, finally told me to stop buying her gifts. Chocolate for her birthday and V-day is OK, though.
  10. Yes, "as fast as possible" is going to be determined by how much you want to pay.
  11. While I'm not a BF shopper, I know that Brad and the mods work very hard to make GD the best site they can - not just on BF but all year. I also want to add my appreciation for all of their efforts.
  12. It's a paid holiday for me, but I won't be doing any shopping. If I had to go out and shop in that chaos it would take me a week to stop sobbing while curled up in a ball on the floor. Madness! It's madness, I tell you! :)
  13. You won't find a new Garmin Nuvi for $99. Even RossMAN said that was a fluke. I still see used C330 models (much older model) selling on ebay for close to $100. If you buy one new, it should already have the latest maps installed. If for some reason it doesn't, you should get a free update. But the free update only applies to models which are not discontinued. If you buy a discontinued model, you don't get a free update.
  14. Check this thread in the Technology forum. Compare any of those to the C340 - they are better.
  15. BTW, that's a pretty old model. Not sure that's a good deal even at the $145 price.
  16. For heavy spenders, the AmEx Blue Cash is probably the best choice. For moderate spenders, the Pentagon Federal Credit Union Platinum Cash Rewards Visa is worth looking at. 5% cashback on gas, 2% on groceries, 1.5% on everything else, no limit. Rebate is applied to your statement monthly.
  17. I don't know, it looks to me like you had 24% treadlife remaining, and they offered you 25% of what you paid towards another tire. In my experience, that's how tire warranties work. I've had tires from Goodyear, Firestone and NTB and the warranties were all based on wear. The manufacturer's tire warranty covers defects only, and an extended warranty covers road hazards also - but the amount they will reimburse is based on wear. I'm surprised that their extended warranty document says nothing more than "50k mile warranty". If you were treated poorly, I can definitely sympathize with that.
  18. Maybe I'm dense, but what did Sears do wrong? Did they not honor the terms of the warranty?
  19. We bought a Panasonic - they have many models that can be bought with from 1 to 5 handsets. The DECT6.0 is very clear. We bought one with an answering machine and a second handset but the KX-TG6313S has 3 handsets, no answering machine, and is $70 retail. Lots of features on the Panasonic.
  20. Your light rail system just started service a couple months ago. It takes time for people to change. I think you'll see ridership pick up.
  21. I think you'll see cities and towns start organizations that help people find someone to carpool with. For example, let's say there's a suburb 15 miles north of the city that doesn't have mass transit. The organization would look for people who want to carpool, they would meet at a local supermarket or shopping center where they would park, and use a van to travel together into the city or other place where some carpoolers travel to daily. The organization leases the van, and charges the participants a fee of about $100/month to cover the cost of the van, gas, insurance and maintenance. Each person is still driving a little, but nowhere near what they used to. It's very economically attractive especially when the participants have to pay for parking when they drive themselves. In the above situation, each person would cut his/her own driving by over 6,000 miles a year. The gas problem is pretty basic. Either people will pay more to drive the same amount, or they will move to where they won't need to drive as much, or they will reduce how much they drive. I had thought gas would drop down some, but with the dollar dropping in value, I think it's going to keep going up. My feeling is that most people will just pay more to drive the same amount. I would say 90% of my driving is getting to/from work so I really don't spend that much on gas.
  22. You shop there all the time, and up until this one incident, said you always had a great experience. Now you run into one rude employee and you won't shop there any more? Over a single $10 pricing dispute? (Actually, it's more like $6, since you were OK with buying the same item at Meijer's for $11.) I am in no way defending the way you were treated, but if I never shopped at a place again after I ran into a rude employee, I would be driving 100 miles to shop, plus I would be spending more than I had to. I would have long ago run out of nearby stores. Just trying to offer some perspective. You seem very upset over this, probably more than it's really worth.
