Selling tickets for Black Friday items while in line
bigjimslade replied to josetann's topic in 2008
I know alot of BB do check ID's or DL's. Most states do issue ID's to minors and people who cant drive and she could get a ID. Most states issue ID's through the DMV. These days you do need a ID to travel, go to Canada or Mexico, enter Federal Buildings, open bank accounts and so on. -
The way I see it is you have to the right charge. You have to pay to get it dumped. I had a key lock on my port a potty and told people I got it for my comfort. The nearest restroom was down the service road. I did make profit on the potty.

From my understand on the OP he wants the RV there so he can stay comfy until the line forms but if he is going to get there after close on Wednesday night. From the reports last year and at my BB there were already tons of people in line by 11pm on Wednesday.

Selling tickets for Black Friday items while in line
bigjimslade replied to josetann's topic in 2008
All I will say is last year at my local BB the manger has a man arrested for selling tickets. He was charged under the ticket scalping law and the manager had undercover BB loss prevention people in the line and that is how he was caught. -
Wednesday night after closing you will already have a line. By closing Wednesday night at my BB there were already 100 people in line and by 7am on Thanksgiving morning there was around 400 people in line. I just checked with my source at BB and they said they will close at 11pm local time on Wednesday. A buck a dump. That is what I charged people last year for my port a potty. I also sold memberships for $10.00 a person or $20.00 for a tent.

I would say a RV is just overkill and not worth it.

Most of the call centers are in India and when I get an Indian guy on the phone I hand it to my girlfriend who is Indian and she handles the call for me in Hindi.

Welcome to the community! Your idea sounds great but I think you need to do some checking before you put it into motion. First I would check with the city you re planning on going to. Many cities have ordinances and codes about where RVs can go. Like in Richardson, Texas you cant have them parked in parking lots for more then 2 hours and cant have them in front of your home. Most cities have rules on the books so I would call code enforcement for the city you plan to shop in. After you find out it is legal to do so then I would check with your local Best Buy manager. Remember that the parking lots are private property and the store or the property owner may not allow you to park your RV. Also remember that BF is a very big shopping day and parking spots are valuable. The BB manager may not want you to take up several spots to park your RV. So be prepared to be asked to park it off site. I have to get special permission to park my rented port a potty each year which only takes up one space. I would count on the lines forming early this year and earlier then you might think. BF has changed 200% since a few years ago and the lines are forming early each year. Maybe the RV might not do you any good. I wish you all the best and do some checking like I said before BF.

Frys is a computer store. It is like a Radio Shack on roids. They are mostly in California and in the south. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frys
-
If you are wanting laptops and dont want to go to BB there is also Circuit City or Frys. The reason most people go to BB is they dont have rebates or any other hassles. No matter where you go for computers you will have to deal with the craziness and long lines.

Ask all the questions you want. This is why we are here. I re posted the photos. Webshots where my photos are have become crappy over the last few months. The tent I posted from WM should do the trick. Also remember that you will need lawn chairs. Most of us get tents so we can get out of the cold, snow, wind and rain. If you are friendly you will make alot of friends in line and so you will want to have a lawn chairs so you can socialize. It will make the time go by faster. Any more questions just post!
-
Welcome to the community! How many people are you planing to fit in the tent? How long are you planning on being out there for? Also the big question is how fast can you break down the tent? Around 2-3am on Black Friday everyone usually starts to break down the tents because by this time the store workers are out starting to work the lines giving out tickets and credit apps. You have to do it fast because of the hype and people sometimes start to push or line jump. You dont want a big tent because you wont spend much time in it and you want something that is easy to manage. Below is the tent I use and it is a good by from WM. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5493340 Below is a photo from BF last year. The red tents is what I use and my tent is number 1. Also when getting a tent you have to remember that you will be on concrete. You need to get a tent that does not use and require stakes.

Yes it was. You can read about it at the link below. It is always best to save the ads to your local hard drive when it comes out as there is always a risk of it being taken down. http://forums.gottadeal.com/showthread.php?t=117908

bigjimslade replied to Brad's topic in 2008
Welcome to the community! Brad and the GD staff will have contests where you can win tshirt like in years past. Since it is still early he may not start the contests until Oct when there is more action on the board. -
Welcome to the community! I really dont think you will see the boxes discounted since there is a supply and demand issue on the boxes. If you dont have yours now I would say get one because it will get harder the closer we get to Feb 2009.

No but it is a common way to display it. Most of them have stands where you can sit them on a TV stand. -

Best Buy Black Friday Ticket System, FAQ and Sample Ticket
bigjimslade replied to bigjimslade's topic in 2008
Welcome to the community! Each BB follows the same rules that are put out by corp and are listed in the ad. I have head some stores putting a 1 per a family limit on items and other 1 per a person. Also some managers will go as far as checking id's in line. What I would do is about a week before BF I would go into the BB you plan to shop at and talk to the manager. Once you talk to him get his/her name and if there is any problems you know who you talked to. I hope this helps! -
Kinda off topic...... I did get a letter today in that mail stating that Best Buy for Business RZ program is now part of the consumer RZ program. Below is an article on the RZ mess up. http://news.cnet.com/8301-13515_3-10032276-26.html?part=rss&subj=news&tag=2547-1_3-0-20
