What things are you going to bring with you while waiting in line?
bigjimslade replied to darkwiggles's topic in 2008
You are welcome. They are easy to put up. I would practice during the day in your yard before BF so you know how to put it up in the dark on BF. -
you will also need to get health dept permits and food handling permits. It is a great idea but not worth it.

Welcome to the community! If you after the cheap desktops then I would get there early. I would expect to wait in line for abut 24-37 hours so that put you in line sometime after Midnight on Thursday morning. The first 10 or so in line are there for desktops and laptops and the people who are in front are high school and college kids. They need them for school and they are at a good price. So you have to watch them for line jumping (there friend joining them way after you get there). As far as lugging it out they are easy. E-machines now pack the desktop and monitor in the same box. I hope this helps and if you have any more questions please post. Please read the BB ticket FAQ in this section as the desktops are ticket items. When you say put it in the back of your pick up what do you mean? Remember you are dealing with human waste. You can rent port a pottys from contractor and special event companies. You just have to call around and see who will give you the best deal. As far as the health dept I did not have to deal with them but I would check with your local city. The port a potty company could tell you. I dont know if I ever explained this on here or not on why I rent one. I have been doing Black Friday for 5 years now. Each year I make new friends in life and because of that my group grows. Our group stays in touch with each other during the year. We do each others birthdays by going to dinner, stay in touch by emails and facebook, and we do each others holidays because there are people who are Jewish, Hindu, Christian, Muslim. The reason I rent the port a potty is for the comfort of my group which is about 60 people large but only about 20-30 camp out each year. Just last year I started to change people because one guy offered to pay to use it so it just caught on. The reason I have been successful in it as the nearest restroom is a mile away. I am a hardcore Black Friday shopper and I do alot of saving for BF so I can rent the potty and have money for extras when in line. If you are going to rent one to make extra money I wish you all the best and I hope it works out. Just be sure you handle it like a business decision and make sure you have no other potties in the area. I hope this helps. Any any more questions if you want and welcome to the community! -

The port-a-potty is a 1 person potty like you see at any work site. I get mine though a motion picture company that provides stuff like this to movie sets. I did not run out of capacity. I do BF at a very busy Best Buy and I had them drop it off on Wednesday around noon and the pick up was on Friday afternoon. I put the port-a-potty on the side of the store away from the line and front door. Some people did give me crap about charging but after I told them that I was paying for it and if they did not like it they could go down the street they calmed down. -
Welcome to the community! There has been no word on this years deals. It is still early and the BB ad does not leak this early. I would say the earliest would be in another 2 weeks to the end of the month.

Yes it does. It give you and the rest of the world to prepare so if you want something you better camp out!

Yes you will. I run a computer with Vista Business and I have 4gigs of RAM If you do hit the stores on BF expect to be in line for 24-36 hours. If you do stand in line and get a ticket for the computer when the doors open I would run and get RAM and other stuff you might need. With the ticket your item is your until 11am or so. Monitors, RAM, printers, hard drives, etc fly off the shelf within the first 3 minutes of when the doors will open. Grab that stuff first if you need/want it and then go to the counter they tell you to go to so you can pick up your computer. -

I would second that. You can get a Mac Mini and then get a copy of XP so you can have two computers in one. My dad has one with XP and that is all he will need for the next 8 years since Macs do age well and you dont have to upgrade as often. http://www.apple.com/macmini/ -

I would still call and check your local WM that you will want to visit on BF and ask.

Welcome to the community! I think you could be right. You have poor sales outlooks and that means the stores will not be ordering much stock so stock levels will be slow. This could cause people getting out there early.
-
The best area to look online is the help section or corporate info section of a site. You can also Google the stores name and store policies after it. Below is a example for Best Buy. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=best+buy+store+policies&btnG=Search You can see the first hit is the best. If you are looking for price matching policies during BF I would take the extra step of contacting your local store and talking to the manager. Over the past few years alot of stores have cracked down on price matching on BF and even have special clauses that prevent you from doing it. Also you have to watch out that the stores will have special SKU numbers and model numbers created for BF which prevents you from doing a price match. Good Luck!

Toys"r"us announces 2008 hot toy list for the holiday season
bigjimslade replied to bigjimslade's topic in 2008
We dont know if any of the items in this press release will be on sale on BF. This was a general press release that was released this morning by TRU. This type of press release is to hype the holiday shopping season and get people excited. I would bet you will see most of the items on the PR on sale at one point in the shopping season. -

Selling tickets for Black Friday items while in line
bigjimslade replied to josetann's topic in 2008
Welcome to the community! The ticket system does prevent stampedes. You have to take the tickets to the customer service checkout to get your item as all ticketed items at BB are under lock and key. WM rolls out the item in the middle of the sales floor and that is where you get the riots. The reason BB gives you until 11am to pick up your item as the wait time for check out at BB on BF is anywhere from 2-3 hours. I hope this helps.
