    rebate warning

If you purchase your item on Best Buy.com then you use the rebate forms on Best Buy.com. Some of those may say online purchase only, since they are for Best Buy.com. If you buy your product in store then the rebate forms will spit out from the register. And if they don't, just have them give you the rebate instantly. No big deal.
  2. I'm in Pittsburgh and just checked our ad online and we DO have the doorbusters! Come on over!!
  3. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Enough excitement for me for the night. I'm off to bed.
  4. I tried adding the one for $399 into my cart to see if it would say what it is, but it didn't.
  5. Circuit City will be having one too. Best Buy's site is back up, but no updates
  6. HAHAHAHA!! I was wondering if anyone was going to post how the sale was. I worked at Comp for a month last year (quit on BF) and we had about 10-15 people in line when we reopened at 6 for the midnight madness sale. I was amazed by how unorganized everything was there. I remember many times I was running around trying to find stuff that was on sale. To me it didn't seem like they ran things the best way to try to make money. Instead they resorted to shady and underhanded business tactics to try to make their goals.
  7. I'm getting slightly burned out. But I think part of it is that I've realized all the excitement I've had is for stuff I want on BF. I need to start looking at the ads for shopping that I'll actually do for gifts. I just hope my family will go out and get the stuff on BF that I want. A couple of the items I'm most interested in I do plan to pick up. Don't want to take any chances. I also think the couple inches of snow we got today and the drop in temps has helped with the burnt out feeling. I might be seeing what deals I can get online.
  8. For those interested in upgrading the memory in the system, I would highly suggest getting a 512 MB stick. If you get another 256 MB stick it would be cheaper, and would give you 512 MB total, which should be enough. BUT the system only has 2 memory slots, so then both slots would be filled up. If you later want to upgrade your memory again you'll have to toss 1 of the 256 MB sticks to put something else in.
  9. My local news teased me the other night saying they were going to let us know how to find the good deals for BF. So I watched the 11:00 news only to find they were just telling people about this and the other sites. D'oh! I already know about them. I wanted some new intel!
  10. I've never understood that either. I can't see it being that comfortable sitting when you have a wallet in your back pocket.
  11. Why not just have them handle your large purchases for you? That's why they have an inventory staff for, to do carry-outs to people's cars. For things like large TVs that's the only way they can do it anyway. When I bought my 32" LCD HDTV on Sunday they just rang it up in the Home Theater department, gave me my receipt, and I met the inventory guy at the door where he brought up my TV on a hand-cart.
  12. I didn't realize it was valid for current customers too, thought it was only for new subscribers. Hmmmm. I have cable internet here but we also have 2 AOL accounts (I have one and my family has one). It might be worth doing the deal and extending at least 1 of our accounts another year.
  13. I don't see what all the fuss is about. Their policy is 14 days on computers/laptops. If you were a day past that I could understand. But a week? And as for buying it at Office Depot and not opening it and trying to return it to BB, I wouldn't count on it. 1) you're still past the 14 days. It doesn't say 14 days if product is opened, it's 14 days period. 2) On the box of the laptop there's normally a batch label with the store # and other information. So if they don't see a batch label on the box, they'll most likely know it didn't come from them. If anything, you should be upset with yourself for buying it so soon to BF, knowing there will be laptop sales for BF.
  14. I'm not a big fan of Kmart. I find their stores to be dirty and unorganized. However, I normally do stop in on T-day. After eating I don't have much else to do, so it's something to do. Although tomorrow I'll also be stopping at the new Big Lots that opened up.
  15. The power supplies in the new emachines isn't that bad. It's still not a huge power supply. Worst thing about the old power supplies was that they were a proprietary size, not standard. So it was hard to find a replacement, other than buying a new standard size case and power supply. One mom and pop computer shop near the BB store I worked at in FL actually stocked the power supplies for emachines...that's how often they died. Smart move on his part. Oh, and BB no longer gets a kickback from the manufacturer for doing the setup/quality check. But if they offer it, I'd advise getting it done. Since at least they can power up your machine instore and be able to replace it if it's dead. Some systems will be DOA. Most of these systems the store only sells for BF, so if you get home and find out it's dead, there won't be any replacements left by the time you get back to the store.
  16. Hot item or hot deal? I'm sure the PS3 will be a hot item next year. But it won't be a hot deal. I say HDTVs (including plasma) will be the hot deals next year. This year we're seeing the smaller LCDs in the ads. Next year I say 27"+ will be fronting the ads.
  17. Don't say that!! I've been tempted to get a mini since it came out. But can't spend the money on it now since I just bought an HDTV.
  18. I made the switch to a money clip a while ago. I have this mini-wallet that has slots for 2 credit cards, an opening in the center where I keep my DL and another credit card and reward zone card, and on the back there's a money clip. I don't miss having that bulky wallet in my pocket. I also keep it in my front pocket.
  19. Wear a Circuit City or CompUSA shirt! That'd be a good disguise
  20. Having worked at BB I can say that most employees really don't know what's going to be on sale. I was a supervisor, so I got to see the ad in a meeting with the supervisors and managers, but we had to turn the ad in at the end of the meeting (no one could leave the room before all the ads were acounted for). From there we didn't pass the info on to our employees. We did the prep work ourselves. Only employees that might have known would be the ones closing on Wed as they had to set up the bulk stacks and stuff. They might be able to get an idea of what will be on sale just from the large # they get in, but don't know what the price will be.
  21. #8: Say to the person behind you in line "I've never seen a line for the bathroom this long! Must be from the BF sale at Taco Bell!"
  22. Although the prices aren't that great, the key to remember is that they're still cheaper than regular price. It's not too often you see Apple products on sale. Gotta admire Apple. They keep strict control on their hardware and software and prices as well.
  23. Looks like CompUSA will be having a midnight madness sale Wednesday, Nov 23. Here's what I got from Slickdeals: $250 Gift Card w/ AOL Sign up. Look on page 1 for the terms. They have a $15/mo plan, so 12 x $15 = $180 total. You're getting paid $70 to sign up. Hitachi 500GB HD Free w/ AOL Sign up (Your cost: $180) Hawking 802.11G Wireless Router $5AR Hawking 802.11G Wireless Adapter $5AR Free 100pk 4x6 Kodak Paper (No rebate) Ad is posted on CompUSA's site. http://www.compusa.com/specials/mmadness_tg05/34863_MMadness.pdf
  24. Yea, you burn it from the hard drive. They give you a program that you run that will create the CDs. For my HP, I was glad I had a dual-layer DVD burner, was able to create a single recovery disc. Otherwise it would have needed 2 single-layer DVDS. I don't even remember how many CDs it wanted. I want to say 8.
  25. I have 3 days of work. M-W. I work at a helpdesk and am hoping it will be nice and quiet at work with people taking vacation. This way I have more time to surf GD while at work!!
