  1. For spyware, Ad-aware, Spybot Search & Destroy, and Microsoft's Antispyware are all good and FREE programs. Must have for any computer connected to the internet these days.
  2. Another reason to get blank CDs/DVDs is that some manufacturers no longer give you restore CDs to reload the system when Windows gets hosed (notice I say when, not if). Instead they give you a program with which to burn your own.
  3. I'm thinking about getting the Radeon X700 at BB. But as pointed out, it does suck that it's AR.
  4. Forcast for here in Pittsburgh is 28 and flurries for BF. I'm already thinking about doing more shopping online. But I'll still have to go out just for the experience. But I take the weather report with a grain of salt. I might believe the weather forcast I see in the morning news, but even then it's not always accurate.

    BB Pricematching??

You could always call the corporate number (888-BESTBUY) and ask them what company policy is for PM on BF. Be sure to get the person's name. If the store doesn't follow whatever the company policy is, just grab your cell phone and call corporate.
  7. I'm still debating on what my plan is going to be. I might check online around midnight then head to CompUSA before heading to Best Buy. Or if I can find a hotspot around I might hit Comp first, then do some online shopping while waiting in line at BB. Or if the weather's too crappy, just try to get it all done online, but that's not as much fun.
  8. Sounds similar to the HP a1130n I bought a couple months ago at Best Buy. Athlon 64 3500+, 1 GB RAM, 250 GB SATA drive, DL Lightscribe DVDRW, CDROM, Media Card reader. I think it was $679 after $50 rebate. It didn't come with a tv tuner or remote, but I already had a tuner in my current desktop and just bought a remote online for $35. I took the 120 GB PATA hard drive out of my old desktop and copied the 250 GB drive over to it. Now I have my 250 GB drive just for recorded tv. Plenty of space, even at highest quality. Best part was I had a $300 store credit for an exchange on my old tv/vcr combo that died. It only has the integrated Radeon x200 video card, which is why I'm looking at the X700XL on sale at Best Buy on BF.
  9. I don't know if I'll have any shopping buddies or going alone. Family still hasn't decided what they're doing.
  10. I might snap some pics on my Razr, but no way I'm taking my digital camera out in that madness.

    1 per household?

They do ask for your phone number, but I doubt it would flag the system if buying more than 1 per household. The reason they ask for the phone number is to gather customer data...demographics. BB wants to custom taylor their stores based on the type of shoppers they have.
  12. Thanks H! Sounds like the same one I found in my quick google search. Only 2 1/2 stars from customer reviews on Amazon, but for that price it might be worth a try. I might pick up the deer too.
  13. I'll have to let my BIL know. He normally goes to Bon Ton for holiday shopping.
  14. Yea, like I said, I've had my eye on this thing for about a month. Was kicking myself for not picking it up about 3 weeks ago when it dropped $300 to $999.99. Now with an additional $100 plus the 12% off coupon I'm so glad I did wait!! It's great with a Media Center or other HTPC. Now I just need to pick up a DVI cable for it for once I get my new video card. Anyone know of any good deals on DVI cables? I know Sears had 75% off Monster cables during their Friends & Family sale. Are they going to have that on BF too?
  15. I picked up a DVD burner from Newegg for my friend for his bday and he was very surprised and pleased. Normally we just give each other gift cards. It felt good to give him an actual gift. He couldn't believe I got him something like that. He even went on and on about it on his blog. Definitely made me feel good. Little does he know how little I paid for it at Newegg.
  16. Thanks for the list and the pics!! I'm looking at the set of 3 sprial lighted trees and also the cordless vacuum. Wonder how good it is. Does it say what the model # is? I only saw a few on Westinghouse's webpage. Did a quick Froogle search on it, and that model seems to be going for about $199.99 online! But many customer reviews on Amazon said it clogged easily.
  17. How busy is Big Lots on BF? and Thanksgiving? They just opened one near me, so it'll be my first time going. I will most likely stop in on Turkey Day on my way to Kmart. Might also stop in on BF to pick up a few things.
  18. Yea, I didn't stay up late enough last night to see the page change online, I went to bed just after midnight. But I did check this morning and the price was updated. But it was also no longer available online. It also was no longer able to allow me to see if my local store has it in stock. Even the sales associate was surprised to find out they had them in stock. He said they normally can't keep them in stock. Might want to call your local BB before heading out.
  19. I planned on getting my mom a coffee maker for Xmas since hers has started leaking. But the other night it completely died, so had to go and get one now. I still might buy one for her so she has a spare. It seems like she goes through one every 6mo!
  20. If you got one it must be good. Thanks for posting that link. I've been watching that thread for a month. Didn't think of posting the link to it. So far I'm definitely a satisfied customer. I haven't noticed any stuck or dead pixels on it, but haven't done a thorough check.
  21. It looks great, and I'm just using VGA for now. I haven't tried gaming on it yet. But looking at text and even bringing up the net was very readable. The text is a little small on webpages, but still readable. What really caught my eye was the start page in Media Center. It's very clear and the blue background is so vivid. Never noticed that on my old SD CRT TV. I even played around with some of the PIP features. Surfing the net with tv in a small window. Response seems to be pretty good on it. Right now I'm watching the NASCAR race just to see how it looks with the action. No complaints. Tonight I'll try a DVD through component inputs. One of the things I love is the size. With the speakers on the bottom it's fits no problem in my entertainment center. I looked at the specs for ones with the speakers on the side (like the Olevia) and it wouldn't fit. It's also very light. I had to take it out of the box to fit in my car and had no problem lifting it out of the box. Huge difference from my 31" CRT!!
  22. I was surprised we didn't get 2 sets, since I'm a Reward Zone member and my mom has a Best Buy card. But these came in my name, so must be from RZ.
  23. I know where to get the software so I can copy DVDs, I just haven't had a reason to. Perhaps eventually I will so I can burn some of the DVDs my sister has. But for now I just buy them when I want them. They're not that much.
  24. Karma...that's all I have to say.
