My parents have a version of the massage chair (this one is way fancier though, with the heat option) and it is nice to sit in. The lower back portion of it broke though, and doesn't "massage" anymore. Other parts of it still works, so you just have a really painful lower back experience.

Need a new TV But the ads suck this year, ugh Or is it just me?

Not necessarily my favorite, but one that I made two years ago that was a hit. They taste like a brownie in cookie form. Chocolate Crinkle Cookies, from Cook's Illustrated Ingredients: 1 cup all-purpose flour½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder (I usually have Hershey's on hand.)1 teaspoon baking powder¼ teaspoon baking soda½ teaspoon salt1½ cups light brown sugar3 eggs1 teaspoon vanilla extract4 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped (I use Ghiradelli's, California girl, yo)4 tablespoons unsalted butter½ cup granulated sugar½ cup powdered sugar Directions: 1. Preheat your oven to 325 degrees. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper. I personally didn't do this until the 10 minute resting part, to try to keep my kitchen from turning into a sauna. 2. Whisk the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl. 3. Combine the brown sugar, eggs and vanilla in a large bowl. Combine the unsweetened chocolate and butter in a small bowl and microwave at 50 percent power, stirring occasionally, until melted, 2 to 3 minutes. (it only took me about 2 minutes. Chop the chocolate into really small bits to accelerate the melting process.) 4. Whisk the chocolate/butter mixture into the egg mixture until combined. Fold in the flour mixture until no dry streaks remain. Let the dough sit at room temperature for 10 minutes. 5. Place the granulated sugar and powdered sugar in separate shallow bowls. Working with 2 tablespoons dough (or a medium cookie scoop) at a time, roll into balls. Drop dough balls into granulated sugar and roll to coat. Transfer dough balls to powdered sugar and roll to coat evenly. Evenly space the dough balls on the prepared baking sheets. CI recommends 11 cookies per sheet, in rows of 4-3-4. I didn't dome the cookies - I slightly flattened them, because I do that. 6. Bake the cookies, 1 sheet at a time, until puffed and cracked and edges have begun to set but centers are still soft, about 12 minutes, rotating sheet halfway through baking. Let cool completely on the sheet before serving. The cookies can be stored at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 5 days. If they last.

It's November, and some of you are already starting to put up your Christmas trees. Let's see them! Share photos!

We all have stories about Black Friday, now let's create our own Black Friday story. How it works: Each person will write one line of the story in their post. JUST one line. The story should be Black Friday related somehow. Each post will build on the previous post. AND THAT'S IT. NOW LET'S WRITE! (imagine you were watching Anchorman, right before the big Anchor fight, when Ron Burgundy was laying down the rules.) I'll start. It's November 3, and only a few Black Friday ads have been leaked, creating anxiety and apprehension at the lack of ads and deals.

It might drop more (they're no longer making the Series 2) so if you need it I would grab it. I'm still debating.

Actually at Target every year they usually have some Nikon wannabe bridge camera for 99.95.
-
I think to clarify further: it's an add on device fee, not another line. Most carriers it's an extra $10/month (check on activation fees.)

Yes, they do go on sale (they did last year at various retailers.) You should talk to your daughter about what it is about the watch she wants - does she want the cellular version? (where you would need to "add a line" to your current plan.) Does she run/swim and want the fitness tracking options? What size does she want? Which band? Start on the apple website and look at all the various options, and ask her what it is she wants to achieve with the watch.

My poor tamogotchi, probably dead in a drawer somewhere from 20 years ago...

Also remember prices change - what was $90 last year could be $45 this year, with more supply, better production methods, or a drive to be more competitive on pricing. Are they inflating prices? Maybe - they would not be the first retailer to do so. That's why you come here to research before you shop. As we always say, the best deal isn't always on BF - sometimes it's in July.

Ding ding ding.

Best Buy had the SNES classic on pre-order for 10 minutes last night. ERGHHH. MIssed it.

Having played with those VR simulators, it'll definitely make you feel nauseous. That feeling will be replicated.

It was stressful yesterday to spend the $15 in Kohl's cash I had, and I still had to add chocolate to make it $15. But when you find something for only $4.00 on the clearance rack...
-
I think the only possible problem with that is someone complaining in that mega walmart thread "why hasn't anyone responded to my question 40 posts up?!".. three times. Once the sale starts, it moves quick.

Serious question regarding service dog on Black Friday (UPDATE)
freesia39 replied to Illinoismom's topic in 2016
At first, I'd be nice, and then I'd be all "look, the dog is working right now. Do I ask to pet you while you're working?" -
I don't think this works anymore - I think the last time I purchased something with Kohl's cash, they reduced the return value of the item so you don't really get the cash back. If you buy something that is 13.00, and use 10.00 Kohl's cash, then your receipt says a return value of 3.00.

There was one with livingsocial a while back but you have to keep your eye out for them. It's not frequent. https://www.livingsocial.com/content/offers/84-Costco_Wholesale I think it's worth it if he lives that close for the food court alone.

Get an external charger (like one from Anker) so you don't have to worry about pre-mature battery death.

Actually seems kinda late for the extreme campers - we're 9 days out. Usually they would have been out there last Thurs.

Well at least with the Canon, you can get the cheap f/1.8 50mm (called the nifty fifty.) It's a great lens for the price, even if it's plastic. I agree the kit lenses are not the greatest but doable when you are first learning.
