Shopping for yourself or others on Black Friday?
shopping mom replied to robertmorr1999's topic in 2008
This year I may have to do the shopping for both me and my parents (if they are out of the country). DD20 is a big help!! I don't shop for personal stuff for me usually I have to many other gifts to get. -
I have the day off with pay also (It was one thing I asked about when I got hired) DH hates to shop and is willing to watch DD5.

What were your Hits and Misses last Black Friday?
shopping mom replied to thistledown814's topic in 2008
Don't feel to bad I think sometimes kids are just overwhelmed by all they recieve that they go into overload especially younger children. I would imagine that the things you bought got played with throughout the year. -
She might like getting some teen magazines throughout the year too. You could wrap one with the subscription. I like the jewelry, purse, wallet, camera, and shoes idea. I would take her to the mall and just window shop, to get ideas. I would also suggest BBWs stuff. If she is interested in learning to sew you could do a machine and also include lessons. Does she still ride her bike and does she need a new one?

They were still only 30% at my Target in Chesapeake VA but our store is always a little behind in the markdowns. -
Up to 85% Off at MyTwinn.com (doll and kid items)

I hope it does too but I was disappointed with the one I bought last year. DD plays with it but it really does not look like her IMO. However, I have seen others that really look like the little girl. -
How do you decide what "toys" to buy your children?
-
Because of this site and the deals posted many have already completed some, most or all of their shopping. I was just wondering who has done what. As for me I don't have enough done to say I have done anything. I have gotten a partial list together of ideas but that is it.

it will depend on the sales and who I have done already. I'll let you know when I see more ads though

How many years have you been going shopping on Black Friday?
shopping mom replied to ChristmasShopping's topic in 2008
I think I started going about 6 years ago. -
Thanks, school & office supplies usually need refreshing by Christmas, so these will make good stocking stuffers
-
Payless carries wide shoes for kids, my DD5 has to have extra wide and her feet are different sizes so I understand how hard it can be to find shoes that fit. This time I had to take her to Stride-rite to get anything to fit properly (doesn't hurt her feet or flop) I did not want to pay that much but sometimes it is a necessity.

The retailers or manufacturers not able to meet the demand, or even come close in some cases. People who are rude to the cashiers because the lines are long, or things ring up wrong or whatever it is not the employees fault.

Tahnks I will have to see if ours has them.

Where did you get it?

On Black Friday do you head out alone or are you part of a group? I am part of a group. Last year it was me, mom, aunt, cousin, 2 DS, 1 DIL, 1 DD. We divide and conquer usually. We were all in line early. Mom and Aunt went to Circuit City, DD and I went to Kohls, 2DS were at Sears, DIL and her cousin went to TRU, and my cousin and her DD were somwhere else. Our cell phones ring constantly as we call on another to ask questions or change ideas. Then when we get back together we exchange stuff and money. Every year is different and so far this year it is DD, DIL, Cousin and me.

A few years ago I went to Best Buy with my older DD. We had most of what we came for and got in one of the lines behind quite a few other people. We were in line for about thirty minutes before one of the employees asked me if could help us, to which I replied no I am just waiting in line to check out. He was nice enough not to laugh when he told me that our"line was not a line and was going no where" But every year since then people outside waiting to come in talk about the year that there was a line that was not a line.

Hi everyone, my name is Beth, I am an accounting assistant. Dh and I have been married for 25 years and we have 6 children (4 boys 2 girls). Most are grown and are 24,23,21,20,and 17 but our youngest is only 5. We live in North Carolina, right on the VA border so I usually shop in VA. I love going shopping and saving money. I have recently started shopping more on the internet, but I will be out on BF just because I am crazy enough to want to.
