Need ideas for 10yo boy ($25 limit)
shopping mom replied to his_kid's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
I was in TRU tonight and my 19 year old was remembering all the fun he had with the legos. -
toys r us would not let me use the coupons. I talk to the manager and told her the only reason I drove an hour to get there was to save the money and now they would not let me. I was shown the "correct" coupon and told they would have my name on it and I would show ID to use one. I am writing to corporate and complaining. I could have priced matched at Walmart, but wanted to use the coupons. Oh well we will see what they tell me from corporate.

Need ideas how to get bargain gifts for teens!

If they like games The Here and Now Monopoly is $10.02 with the coupon at Target. Bath and Body Works has good sales. DVDs are going to be cheap on BF. Do you have any ideas on what you would like to get maybe that will help you find the best price. -
So far I am going to Sears. On DS gets the leather jacket, and I am going to price match either the PSP or the GBA, another DS wants a DVD player( I have not looked at the ads for that item yet) one DS wants the air compressor, and some other tools I also want some DVD's and am hoping to price match.

I called our local Sears and that is what they said too. Definitely my first stop this year!! I am going to scope it out so I know exactly which items they have in stock.

I think that it is great you want to give him some stuff. At that age a bike or scooter would be fun. Legos, action figures, soccer ball, models, art set, ( I am trying to think of things that do not require batteries) a magazine subscription for boys his age If you wanted to get something with batteries you could also buy a charger and rechargeables so they would not have to be replaced as often. Radio control car, or gameboy would be fun at that age. -

What is the most unusual way you wrapped a gift?
shopping mom replied to momof5plus1hubby's topic in 2006
My DS who is 19 has always been a good guesser. So for a couple of years the tags had colors on them instead of names, and I was the only one who knew which color was for which kid. It was fun. -
My mom and dad spend the same amount on DH as they do on my kids. They spend more on me! I have always been spoiled!! However this year DH has withdrew himself from Christmas so he gets nothing!

Find out if some of your friends feel the same way. Maybe you could decorate something together, or you could go to a nursing home and do some volunteer work or Christmas caroling. Bringing holiday joy to others will help you too.

Normally ours does too it is just on BF that they get picky.

That actually happened to some friends of mine last year. They stood in line would have gotten the laptop but at the last hour a bunch of people got in front of them with people who saving them a spot in line.

I started a new job at the beginning of October. It is only me, a girl who works part time and the owner. The owner is a great boss and I would like to do something for her at Christmas. She plays tennis, quilts, and likes flavored coffees. I would like to keep the gift around $20.00. Any suggestions?

So far I think I am going to be in line at Sears. I am not desperate for any toy and DS15 has asked for a leather jacket. I also want the air compressor and some other tools. It will be the first time I have not gone to Wal-mart first if I stick to this plan. What about you?
-
I usually pack up some ham and trukey rolls for us to eat.
-
At my Walmart it also has to be the same time of day the sale is advertised. It is usually not a problem, but if a store I want to match from opens at 7:00 AM and I am in line at Walmart by 6:00 AM then they will not price match. Good Luck! I do this every year at BF and save a lot of time.

Can some one please tell me what scooter and what price? I did not see it inthe ad. -
He has never known what I spend on Christmas, no will he ever know. He would say it is way too much, but I do not think I have ever spent over $150 per child. With the price of things today you know that is not a lot even with bargins. Now if you were to add in the money I get to spend from the grandparents then it would make him say I do not need to spend anything. (We call him Scrooge)

Do we have to sign up for it again this year or will they e-mail us automatically?
-
I chose six to ten but those are gifts just from us. We have three sets of grandparents, plus aunts and uncles, and the kids draw names for each other. There is always a lot of gifts!!

How do you celebrate a childs' bday close to Christmas?
shopping mom replied to Tommysmom's topic in 2006
DS will be 16 this year on Dec. 27. We have kept his birthday seperate from Christmas almost every year. One year he wanted something way out of budget so I used it as gift for both. Other than that we usually do something fun, and I try to give him one of his nicer gifts for his birthday (I do use his wish list) The only thing bad is all his siblings birthdays are in the spring or summer so they get gifts twice a year and he only gets them once basically or that is how it seems.
