  1. I had a funny bf dream the other night--I was at Kmart and they had major brand jeans onsale in all sizes for $1.50. However there were none in the sizes I needed (I have my dh, a teen, 8 year old, 5 year old and 4 year old) I was so mad in my dream cause you would have thought that with all the people in my house I would be able to find atleast one of them a pair of jeans. Silly dream--Kmart does not sell "name brand" jeans, is not a store I shop at too much on bf and no one in my house needs jeans?!?!?! lol Amy
  2. How do you use the tru bucks from Mcds? I haven't been able to get them to work online--I've entered them under promotion--is it a gift certificate? tia
  3. I've been out of the state for the last few days. I can't find the exact recipe I used--but I found one similar on the food network. The only major difference I can see is that I added the cup of white wine directly to the turkey (poured over with the broth) The recipe also tells how to make pan gravy from the drippings and that wasn't a part of my original recipe. Here is the link--- http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_17081,00.html It looks like a lot of work (and it kindof is) but I'm telling you this the best turkey I've ever eaten and it's only once a year :)
  4. I agree crockpots can be a lifesaver. I put all mine on a bar and it keeps the food warm while other things are finishing up and also keeps everything warm while everyone is serving and eating. There is actually a great recipe for marinating the turkey--I used to use just a saltwater brine. But last year I found a recipe that had oranges, fresh herbs, onions etc in the brine as well--the best turkey I've ever eaten. Hmmm I need to search for that recipe. Amy
  5. we face this each year as well. My stepson (he lives with us) is 16, my dd is 8, ds, 5 and dd4. So far I have bought each child 2 gifts (not planned I just looked at my list last night and realized I had got them each 2 gifts so far) step son has $115 spent, dd 8 has $75, ds 5 has $18, and dd 4 has $40. Clearly some gifts are smaller then others or more expensive etc. It is tough because we want to be fair. Usually I try to get around 6 gifts each--no particular reason why I choose 6--just usually ends up to be a good number. I try to stay close to the same amount on each child and may buy some smaller "fill" gifts if need be. My step son is old enough to know that his gifts generally cost more so he wouldn't be bothered if he got less gifts--honestly none of the kids would prob. care as long as they get something they are excited and happy with.
  6. What cheap satellite internet service is Walmart offering? We need that out here. We keep putting off getting our satellite internet because the start up cost are so expensive. tia Amy
  7. usually the weekend before Thanksgiving
  8. Usually Kmart and Meijer--my sil and I went into our Walmart last year and they had no sales for thanksgiving day, but they were open and not busy at all. Amy
  9. My sil and I have been going for the last 4 years or so together. last year dh went to bb and I think he is going to go do that by himeself--I really don't think I could do bb. sil and i usually hit walmart, kmart, meijer and JcPenny's. However this year I am going to be home (in Ohio) where we have a lot more stores to choose from--I'm hoping she'll come down from MI and keep up the tradition. She's fun to go with and we help each other out when we can. Amy
  10. We went three years ago--it was nice and I was glad we went however my kids were asleep fairly quickly. We did get to ride a lot of the rides several times. I don't know that we would do it again though.
  11. I think the bratz dolls and cabbage patch kids will be flying off the shelves. I know I would like to get two of the bratz dolls my dds would love them. Personally I don't think the bratz dolls are any worse then Barbie--but I know some families don't let their girls play with them. just my opinion Amy

    Coach Outlet

THe outlet center I used to work at had a coach outlet--the entire mall was pretty busy on bf but I think with having so many stores to visit it shouldn't be too bad. Keep in mind I haven't been in a few years so maybe someone who has been recently can tell you better. imo it wasn't as bad as say walmart. Amy
  13. Isn't it nice to get your moneys worth--my mom is like the discount queen. If I find something for $10 it is a guarantee she can find it for $5. I understand your frustation esp--knowing that no one else is going to be having awesome gifts like you found for $5. However this could be a learning experience for them--If I were you I would feel super proud for finding such gifts for such a low price. I would have to vote for the $5 price not the value. But on the other hand if I found a $20 gift for $3 I would not spend $2 more just to make it $5. Amy
  14. my mom always get great deals at fashion bug--she really shops the clearance racks and finds the 1.99 deals and such. No such luck for me--I can never find deals like that at ours. I should try to hit this sale though--looks good
  15. have you checked a Coach outlet or even ebay? You may be able to get her her coach wallet and stay within your price. But as someone else said everyone is an adult so they really shouldn't be worried about who got what and it's value. Just get a gift she will enjoy and what you can afford.
  16. The main thing that sold me is that the control buttons are suppose to be in a better location/easier to use for little hands. I finally bought two this weekend at Bestbuy. I used the few McDonalds Monopoly bucks that I had to offset the price. I was going to buy a bundle from tru last week but they were completely out of ds lites. Bestbuy only had one left after I purchased mine. Meijer is having a good bundle sale, Limit one--but I don't want to battle for one that I might or might not get especially since my kids really, really want them. Amy
  17. Walmart and Meijer for me!! We live within 20 minutes of BB, Tru, kohls, staples, the mall --just about everything (even closer for walmart and kmart) However we are going to MI for thanksgiving and the only stores close are walmart, meijer, kmart and JCpennys. So it kindof narrows my shopping down. Oh well small price to pay to spend thanksgiving with inlaws:) I may try to do some online shopping if there are any great deals!! Amy
  18. I haven't bought anything yet!! It's pretty shocking I usually like to be done early and I'm going to be rushing this year. I won't have my X-mas money until the 15 of Nov, so I'm kindof stuck waiting on that! Amy
  19. yeah I'm wanting 2 nintendo ds lites and the ad has them for the same price that everywhere else has everyday. bummer--hopefully someone will have a good sale on them
  20. 6-8 hours. we usually go home and drop stuff off, refuel and go out again for more fun. Sometimes dh will go the second time--he is more the impulse shopper. Once he sees what I've bought or sil has gotten he wants it or thinks we should have gotten more lol. I've told him this year he should just come with us in the first place. Amy

i was wondering the same thing
  22. No I usually have a budget established and stick pretty well to it. Although the budget may change year to year......
  23. The Bratz dolls for 6.88 would be nice. Both my dds love bratz, but really don't have too many dolls. For that price they could have a couple more. Hmmm maybe I should plan to pick up a couple for birthday parties throughout the year. Hopefully kmart has several Amy
  24. I'm with the crowd that thinks it's creepy, but my three year old gets excited every time she sees it. My ds (4 yrs old) keeps telling me that his sister wants it for Christmas. I'm not sure yet. I'm kindof wondering about what kindof "food" goes in its mouth. Amy
