We got there about 10pm and there were already about 150 people in front of us. I went for the ipod touch and was not able to get it. I was amazed that they did hand out tickets and I was able to snag a zhu zhu pet. They did a great job not letting people rush the doors, and let us into the store in an orderly fashion of about 20 people at a time. Once inside it was still insanity and people were yelling about everything. Once we left the store about 1 am- there were still about 200 people outside waiting just to get in!

My sweet husband is picking up 2 papers for me right now!

Thank you all for the words of wisdom. I figured it would not be as bad as Best Buy, but I would hate for her to miss out on it as well. I will let her know, and I will be sure to post what she managed to make out with! I plan on getting the Sony camera but was hoping to snag that online before even heading out!

I once gave my sister a paint it yourself really gaudy candle thing. Well the following year she gave it to my daughter. So my daughter painted it and gave it back to her the next year. Hopefully we do not see it back this Christmas but you never know!

My sister would like to get a laptop from Staples this year, and is prepared to camp out. I looked at the archived threads but there is really no mention of Staples- more BB and OM. Anyone have suggestions as to what time she should get there, do they do ticketing, and experiences with getting big ticket items? How are they on stock, etc. We have never really done Staples on BF much less for a laptop. Oh and she cannot buy it online, as her bf flies out the next day and is taking it with him to Brazil. Thanks!

Haha, its ok! I had only read that somewhere so I am not even sure if that is true! I think I will hunt down an orange vested man at Home Depot and see what they can suggest. I cannot be the only person to have this issue, especially in Florida!

I had read somewhere that putting one screw into stucco can lead to it breaking apart under the surface. I was a little nervous to do that- have you heard that before?

A great reminder! I am so upset, as a GM of a restaurant I contacted our local food bank, asking if I could get our customers to donate food, and I would give them free menu items, I was told they already take part in another fundraiser and ours would only interfere. Have you ever heard of a food pantry turning down offers???

I would love to know if anyone has used hot glue, and when it was peeled off how it affected the paint/stucco!

I went to Hobby Lobby and wanted to buy a beautiful garland- 50% off, but it was still $59.99 to begin with. So I purchased all the pieces and made it myself. I was so excited to hang it, and never thought what I would use. I bought suction cups and tried those and they would not even stay without weight. Then I used double sided sticky on the suction cup hook and they stayed all of 10 minutes. Any advice? Our stucco is a pretty big pattern and thickness too so I fear the worst.

I usually attempt to get some sleep, but we are also usually visiting with family we have not seen in a year or so. This year TRU opening at midnight pretty much determines I will not be sleeping at all!

I have started to keep an eye out now, but will definitely be hitting a couple of stores for last minute planning.

That was my question too. The only items I will go for are the ipod and the Star Wars Lego set. The lego set is $50 so I will cash out, get the card and my friend can pay for the lego set with that.

Now as far as shopping their website for Black Friday deals- I have never ordered anything online that day! I saw Brad's very helpful comment about getting coupons on ebay now and I ordered 2. All I want to get is the Sony cybershot- I need to get 2 of them. What time Friday morning will the sale start online? Do the prices go into effect midnight or 6 am? And what experiences have you had ordering on BF and actually getting the product?

My husband and I exchange stockings full of little things instead of gifts since we save all extra money for the kids. Last year I got him a knife set, some GI Joe he collects, a toy car of his dream car, a new travel mug, and some other things I can't remember right now. I think its more fun to see all the little things that make him think of me when I open mine!

I always love jewelry and have been wanting a new ring for quite some time. Victoria's Secret gift card- I love buying clothes and lotions from there but its hard to buy for myself!

In years past we have not. We always start with a budget, but we go overboard on the kids for Christmas. This year we are sticking to a budget as a cruise is the majority of their gift and they are only getting a couple small things to go with that.

I'm pretty sure my husband would not go for it either! Although we moved over the summer so I have spent a lot of time outside eyeing up what bushes I am going to light and mentally preparing a lighting plan!

Ok, I went to the sears pdf and replaced sears with 'another store name that got taken down' in the address bar. Is that not the right way- I feel stupid but I get nothing!

My oldest (13) does not, my two younger (10 and 9) still DID. However, we broke the news to them just a few weeks ago. Last year we had an over the top Christmas, laptops, stereos, desks, basketball hoop, and then still about 40 smaller gifts each. This year and years going forward we want to replace the junk with a vacation. So this year they will be getting only 4 or 5 gifts and a cruise. We wanted them to understand why they don't need a list of 30 items!
