  1. I've used Chicago Public Transit to go Black Friday shopping before. However, I don't normally do door busters... I usually buy computer hardware and video games which aren't heavy, so a large backpack is usually more than adequate.

I have purchased laptops before and had to take them home on the subway... I concealed them using old paper bags from Whole Foods/Trader Joe's so I wasn't standing on a platform with a pack that screamed "BRAND NEW LAPTOP from Best Buy!"

  2. I've been using Virgin Mobile for 5 years now... I refuse to sign a contract with any carrier, even if that means paying a little premium for my minutes.

VM has a lot of plans for both calls and texting... I suggest you check it out.

Also, like someone mentioned above, they have a great plan that allows you to receive free minutes just by watching a few ads on their website.

  3. The system came out in June and has been an unbelievably brisk seller, so no, Nintendo will not lower the price this holiday season. Keep in mind that the system does not come bundled with games, and the average price of each title is about ~$34.99, you may, however, find some nice deals on games this Black Friday.
  4. CREDIT CARDS, thank you! It's safer than cash, offers cash-back or rewards, and allows me to take a 25 day interest-free loan at the expense of the credit card company (har, har).

Use a credit card, pay in full, get cash-back on purchases. Credit is not evil, it is your friend... if you use it wisely!

  5. I see people debating between cash and credit. I say credit ALWAYS beats cash (if you pay in full). The last time I checked, you can't get rewards points (cashback, gift cards, etc) for writing a check. I surely don't intend to pay interest on my Black Friday purchases, but I will gladly accept cash back from Discover, Citi, etc :).
