  1. Wow, I wish ours would have done that. Great deal!!!
  2. Went to Lowe's this morning hoping to find a certain animated plush, but they didn't have it however I couldn't leave empty handed so I got 3 animated or ornaments and a little plush animated monster. very pleased, even though I didn't find what I went after. Thanks so much for the heads up.
  3. I bought this for my grandmother for Christmas this year. I think it will be very helpful for her.
  4. I bought all the dogs in my family (a total of 5) butcher bones and they will get those while we are opening our presents.
  5. Sorry about your son being sick. I can completely empathize with you about the gift problem. DH's grandparents get all the adults men the same gift and the adult women the same gift. The problem is they are great gifts, but it has never been something that DH or I would use. I know it is the thought that counts and I truly appreciate the thought, but I would much rather them keep their money, but they don't seem to understand.
  6. As a former youth director, I think that the 20 questions game is a great idea.
  7. I disguised 2 gifts this year and will probably disguise another one. I put gift cards that I got for 2 teens in a box and then wrapped the box so that they had something to open.
  8. Pray really hard that the gifts I have ordered come in time for Christmas, and buy the last 10 items I need
  9. Maybe they did it because they are out of the 158 and therefore they upgraded your item?
  10. There have been some presents in my family that instead of disguising we actually sent people on a scavenger hunt to find them because they were so big and bulky. Last year I sent my sister on one to find the luggage set that my mom had bought her and we had stored.
  11. If I were in your situation I would just tell them that I had already bought for the kids. In my extended family we buy for the children in the family, but for the adults, I personally either bake them something or this year I am doing dip mixes and a yankee candle votive (that I got on a huge sale 20 votives for $7) and maybe half a dozen cookies. All of the adults basically exchange baked goods or homemade goodies. I'm sorry that you have to deal with this. I am blessed to have a great MIL and FIL. Though we only see FIL maybe once a year (they are divorced.)
  12. I placed an order today and didn't have any problems
  13. Thanks everyone I found a great gift from Deep Discount DVD.
  14. They are baking chips, I found them with the chocolate chips. They are peppermint and I think white chocolate
  15. Ok I need some gift ideas. The limit is $10 and it is for a guy who is into techy stuff (he's a computer geek.) Anyone have any ideas?
  16. Here's the recipe for the Chocolate Mint Softies 1 package (18.25 oz) Devil's food cake mix 1/3 cup water 1/4 cup butter, softened 1 egg 1 cup Andes Peppermint Crunch 1/2 cup coarsly chopped walnuts (optional) Preheat oven to 350. Grease cookie sheets. Combine cake mix, water, butter and egg in large bowl. Beat with electric mixer at low speed until moistened. Increase speed to medium; beat 1 minute. (Dough will be thick.) Stir in chips and nuts; mix until well blended. Drop dough by heaping teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto prepared cookie sheets. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until set. Let cookies stand on cookie sheets for 1 minute. Remove cookies to wire racks; cool completely. Makes about 4 dozen cookies
  17. I made chocolate cookies with andes peppermint baking chips in them. They are really good :) and extremely easy to make. If anyone wants the recipe let me know.
  18. Hopefully I get a chance to start wrapping presents. I haven't been feeling good, and I don't really feel like doing anything. I also still have 4 gifts to buy. I know what I need to get I just need to find it.
  19. I actually have been the guilty party in a situation like this. I called my mom to tell her that I had just bought the movie Curious George and she told me that I had ruined one of my presents so she would just have to return in and then she told me to not buy Over the Hedge, so I know that I am getting that for Christmas. I felt so bad, I didn't mean to do it, but I just needed an easy viewing movie to watch after finals.
  20. Ok, DH just informed me that we need to buy something for his best friend and his girlfriend and the boys. I know what to get the boys, but I have no clue what to get his best friend and his girlfriend. I need something around the $25 range. DH said what about a nice gift set and I asked him what kind and he told me he didn't know so does anyone have any ideas? I am a little crafty so I could make something if it would work. I was thinking about putting together some type of gift basket, but I can't even think of what to put in it. He is into computers and that kind of thing, and I have no clue what she is into.
  21. The only thing I can think of is Gummy Bears (there are out on DVD now) but I don't know what that would have to do with lipstick
  22. When we were little that's what we did. We would open our gifts around 6 or 7 and then be at my grandparents around 10 or 11. I have no clue what DH and I are going to do when we have children. We start Christmas Eve with his family then come home and go to bed then get up and go to my aunt's and then go to my parent's. DH and I typically open our gifts on Dec 23 so that we have time to enjoy.
