I have 40+ years worth of various Hallmark ornaments, mostly snowman related. I've recently started buying an ornament from that year's vacation destination.

Can't wait for the ads. I could use a new laptop. -
Somewhere in the early 2000's..... 2001 or 2002 maybe. I went to Walmart to get a new 'big screen" tube TV. Managed to get one of the last ones on the pallet and was barely able to handle it alone. Did this and still managed to get to work on time even with a 30 minute commute. I've been hooked since.

I'd take that in a heartbeat! -
My family eats Thanksgiving lunch at noon sharp. So we have plenty of time to get the kitchen back in order and to have a nap. My mom and I peruse the ads one more time, do some online shopping if needed and available already, then about 4 to 4:30 pm we will head to Walmart, gather up the stuff we need/want because the pallets are already being ripped apart. Then it's just a matter of standing in a checkout line waiting for the signal from management to turn on the registers. We haven't needed any of the big tickets items in several years so we haven't had to deal with those lines at all.

I don't see many rude shoppers at the small town Walmart I use for BF shopping. One year I did see some sheet sets flying through the air and the cops hustled over to that corner but that's been it for the last 20 years or so I've been BF shopping at Walmart. The main problem I notice now with the Thursday night sales is the packs of teenagers that come just to hang out and 'show out" and in general be in the way.

Walmart, since that's the only store in my small hometown where I will be on Thanksgiving. It's a tradition for my mom and myself and it's the perfect place and time to catch up with people you haven't seen in years, or since the previous year's Black Friday shopping. The rest is done online

How much stuff do you buy for yourself during Black Friday
HanShotFirst replied to msyves's topic in 2015
I don't have children so the majority of Black Friday shopping is for me but I do manage to get gifts for family and friends if needed. -
Aww. I love those felt/sequin kits. My grandmother made each of her grandchildren one of those stockings when we were born, made each family an advent calendar and the girls (myself included) were lucky enough to get tree skirts. My mom had to retire my stocking after 40 years because we were afraid the felt would tear it is so worn thin in places on the back. Now it holds a place of honor in my treasure box. As far as being crafty, Last year I made "consumable crafts" for friends and co-workers.......peppermint scented body scrub and peppermint soap in the shape of snowflakes.

Best Buy Announces Free Shipping on All Orders throughout the Holidays
HanShotFirst replied to magickallight's topic in 2015
Great news for the cheap blu-rays and DVD's. I remember having to hunt stuff last year to buy to get the free shipping. That USB drive is still in the package! LOL -
I have the Mini and love it! Use it mainly for hot cocoa and occasionally coffee but only when my dad visits. I don't mind at all having to fill with water every time. Countertop space is at a premium in my house and the mini uses only a small amount. I have the My Kcup accessory but have never used it so can't speak to that. And of course all the color choices for the mini is a fun thing.

I agree. And I'm sure they will replenish all along. Target had some great stuff on Force Friday, many things I wanted for myself.

What's everyone's #1 Black Friday item on your list so far?
HanShotFirst replied to Peppermint's topic in 2015
vacuum.......shark or Dyson. Also am going to consider a new laptop for myself if I can get the same or similar deal my mom got from BB last year. She and my dad both love the laptops she got. -
Just now starting to make lists so the shopping will commence soon I hope.

Roll call of who our early birds of August are...
HanShotFirst replied to Peppermint's topic in 2015
Here and ready! Already have a list made. -
The Plush Grumpy Cat I gave my 40-yr old sister was probably the biggest hit of the night for my family. LOL. My 72-yr old Dad is tickled over getting a laptop too. We finally had time to get it set up for him last night and he's been on it nonstop.
-
Me too! I just may have to participate next year. Good job Secret Santa's and OE gifters!
-
Mom & Dad gifts are wrapped and under the tree when they get wrapped. Santa always left gifts unwrapped during the night. Usually the big gifts of toys/electronics.
-
I can't wait for my Dad (72 yrs old) to open his gift. We're giving him his very first laptop! He'll think it's silly to have spent that kind of $$ on him but he'll secretly be giddy about not having to snatch Mom's to shop ebay for his used golf clubs. He's also discovered YouTube and Google now so he may never get out of his La-Z-Boy again. LOL

My place of employment sponsors a Senior Tree for the elderly in the counties Home Instead offers services. I always take 2-3 of these. These break my heart quicker than a child off the Angel Tree because they only want basic things that I don't give a second thought to. Sweat pants/shirts, slippers, blanket, robes, nightgowns, jeans, blankets, etc.
