  1. My biggest pet peeve is the teenagers who think it's fun to just hang out acting silly and just generally being in the way while those of us there to shop have to fight to move amongst them. It's terrible at my local Walmart. This has been the biggest negative for me for the earlier start times.
  2. Boy! This would be fun to win! I can't wait for Black Friday!
  3. I've got $6.87 saved up so far. Funnily enough, I had to travel to Myrtle Beach to save the majority of that $6.87. Not that that was a hardship though. I don't expect to save huge amounts every time since I do buy a lot of store brand items but every little bit that I do save is nice.
  4. Day 2 and still no luck getting through online or by telephone. Was able to finally get to a point on the automated phone system where I could hear a list of all my transactions. Thankfully I can account for all of them up to today. Trying not to get angry over it but the more time that passes until I can cancel my REDcard the more frustrated I get. What a huge mess.
  5. Been trying to log into MyREDcard all morning to have a look at my transactions, ensure I can account for everything, and the page won't even open. Anyone else experiencing this?
  6. Went to both the Walmart Supercenters here this morning and between the two there was lots and lots of BF items left. I was shocked quite honestly because normally by this time these 2 Supercenters are back to normal so to speak Here's what I found leftover: *Rubbermaid storage containers *An entire end cap full of the Garth Brooks boxed set (not really surprised at this) *Tons of the Keurigs (2 pallets full at one store alone) *3 of the 60" Vizio TV's *A pallet full of the hockey tables *an end cap full of the toaster ovens *sheet sets (what?!?!, these are never left over here) *probably 30-40 boxes of the huge $10 boxes of Russell Stover candy *tons of movies/TV shows *PJ's of all sizes and ages *about 20 of the genie bras *HUGE bin of the colorful fashion socks Target still had tons of movies/TV Shows in their BF displays but no sign of any other leftovers that I could see
  7. Small Walmart supercenter in rural Arkansas not too bad at all. We got there around 5pm and were able to get everything we wanted, nothing to be upset over if we missed them either. Found a short checkout line and were only 4 people deep in that. Back home and in my PJ's by 6:25 pm. Crowds did seem smaller this year here as a whole although some parts of the store were not easily navigable due to the lines for the doorbusters/guaranteed items.
  8. Target online: $35 Threshold ottoman $8 House of Cards DVD $6 Pitch Perfect DVD $19.99 Biddeford heated throw blanket Best Buy online: Logitech harmony remote Walmart online: $15 Farberwear toaster oven Amazon $6 Silver Linings Playbook DVD $10.96 Monsters University Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital copy $9.96 Breaking Bad DVD's. Seasons 1-5 Office Depot (Friday in store) 50% Speck iPhone 4S case $3.99 800-sheet Bonus pack hp printer paper My Mom, sister and I decided to brave the crowds at our local Walmart for the 6 pm sale and ended up walking out with the $8.88 package of Sharpies, 4 of the $5 genie bras, 2 pair of the $9.50 men's Wrangler jeans, and the $28.88 Beautyrest memory foam mattress topper. Checked out and back to my parent's house by 6:25 pm. All in all I say that is the best Walmart experience we've had in quite some time, despite the annual towel fight. Maybe that's because it's the first year we've never needed a door buster item. Are those towels really worth fighting for?? LOL. I make it a point to stay far away from that area! Just happened to be in the checkout line and saw the towels flying through the air and heard all the ruckus of the shouting. One more trip in the morning to Fred's for iTunes cards and that's it for me.
  9. I tried to use that coupon on a Shuffle just last night and the system kept giving the error message that "not enough quantity entered". The associate was unable to override it so we decided that perhaps the coupon was only good for multiple iPods being purchased? Either that or the Shuffles were not eligible. Makes no sense because neither of these limitations were listed on the coupon itself. I would have fought harder but the shuffle is very inexpensive compared to the other models, and at least my REDcard discount paid for the taxes.
  10. My Dad was a trucker for years. Here are a few things I remember getting him over the years that he always appreciated 1. lots of snack-sized pre-packaged crackers, cookies, chips and such. Saved him a few bucks at the truck stops. 2. bedding/pillow/sleeping bag, etc. for the truck bed 3. large travel mug as he always wanted something to sip on while driving, usually coffee 4. nice pen to keep his logs, although this may be done electronically these days 5. heavy duty gloves came in handy when he had to help unload the trailers 6. new bag to carry/store his personal items/clothes
  11. I've got everyone's "big gifts" done. I'll pick up some small things to go along with them and then hoping to spend Black Friday mostly shopping for me and any Angel Tree and Senior Tree gifts I need.
  12. *Blu-ray player with built in wireless. Would love for that to be a Samsung player. *TV series/movies on DVD and/or blu-ray *iTunes gift cards on sale. Should have ordered more when they were the deal of the day on ebay *good Bluetooth/wireless speaker to use with iPad/iPhone
  13. Go to walmart.com to view the BF ad. If you click on the "1-Hour In Stock Guarantee" area of the ad you will find the terms of service. Here's a few of the terms....... "Payment must be made upon checkout for the Guarantee Card. Deadline for payment may vary based upon local store hours-see local store for details". "Merchandise will be delivered to the same store where the Guarantee Card was purchased." "Customers will receive notice via email when the item has been shipped and is available for pickup. Valid email address is required." "Guarantee Cards must be registered by 11:59 CST, Sunday, Novemeber 25, 2012. If not registered during that time the Guarantee Card will become a standard Walmart Gift Card loaded with the amount of Black Friday item purchase price" "If Walmart is unable to fulfill your order a full refund will be provided upon request. A comparable substitution may be available." Hope this answers some of the questions!
  14. If you look on the ad using walmart.com there is a "see more details" tab that says it is the Nuvi 50. That's a great price but I'll be after the $99 50LM elsewhere for the Lifetime Maps feature.
  15. I clicked on the "See More Details" box that pops up when you hover your mouse on the photo and it states the model is the Nuvi 50. Of course, there is no way to know if that is indeed the model number they will have available I suppose. Radio Shack, Office Max and Best Buy are all advertising the Nuvi 50 LM for $99 if that helps.
  16. Lordy yes that was a fiasco, even in Arkansas where Walmart is based! I do hope they have another one. I got a much better deal on a Vizio LED that year than on BF.
  17. I may be in the minority here but I don't mind the early opening times. My family eats Thanksgiving dinner straight up 12 noon. We've done that for years because that lets the "boys" in the family eat and then hit the road for the deer woods. The only "BF store" in the small town where I spend Thanksgiving is Walmart. My mom and I build our shopping around the Walmart ad so it's really a win-win situation. We are never after the doorbusters at Target, Kohls or BestBuy since they are an hour drive. If we choose to hit those stores we go later in the day to browse and are not looking for anything specific. We get in and we get out. Last year we went to the 10 PM and stayed for the midnight and were checked out by 12:15. At home in bed by 12:30 AM. So far, looks like I will be fast asleep on BF morning having gotten all I need/want at the 8PM Walmart Event.
  18. Well, for the first time in many years I don't need any electronic items so I'm leaning towards housewares and the usual socks and underwear packs. I am especially interested in checking out the $4.88 Beautyrest pillows but if they are anywhere near those blamed towels I will run in the opposite direction and hope there are some leftovers I can find later. Not interested in getting a black eye. Unless WM has a surprise up their sleeve it looks like I can do all my shopping at the 8 pm sale and be done, which is actually a good thing. Last year I needed things from 2 of the start times and I didn't particularly like hanging out in the store for 2 hours waiting for the next start time.
  19. Looks like the Nuvi 50 On a side note, I don't think this unit has Lifetime Maps update. It is well worth the extra cost to get one with this feature because map updates cost as much or usually more than the unit itself. If you arent interested in map updates then this is a great deal IMO. My sister has the Nuvi 40 and we have used it all over the US and love it. She will be getting an upgrade to a LM model (lifetime maps) this Christmas.
