Walmart ditching layaway option for 2021 holiday season
HanShotFirst replied to magickallight's topic in 2021
I ordered groceries for pickup this afternoon for the first time since the update and it was horrible. Took me 3X longer than normal. Ugh… -

Same. -
Seems fairly short to me too but I do like that Lego fish tank.

Well I can officially say this year will probably be less people I’m shopping for since I usually give 3 of my work friends a small gift but since I have a new job (yay me) I don’t know that I will see them to give them a gift. Maybe I’ll buy gift cards in case we find the time to get together for a dinner after work. So my normal gift count will be 4…..mother, father, sister and GD secret Santa.

Walmart ditching layaway option for 2021 holiday season

I hate this for those people who have no credit or bad credit yet want to give their children/family a good Christmas. All the low income families that were able to utilize layaway with no interest and now just that, when the past almost 2 years have been so hard on them and everyone else. Ugh Walmart. Bad move in my opinion. -

What's your Black Friday budget for this year?
HanShotFirst replied to magickallight's topic in 2021
LOLOL! Unfortunately it’s the other way around…..I struggle to buy gifts for the few people I buy for. -
So happy college football is back! I can’t believe I’m sitting here watching a Sooners game but that’s the beauty of it all. Have several hours yet until my beloved Razorbacks take the field and the whole state is still buzzing over the full manhandling we gave our oldest rival Texas last weekend.

No budget. I just have a limited amount of gifts to buy since no children or nieces/nephews. Those I do buy don’t need nor want anything so here I am again this year, on the struggle bus. I seem to live on that bus these days. -
Happy September! First day of meteorological fall and Little Rock hit 100 degrees today. My city only got to 97 with a “feels like” of 107. We are desperate for rain too. COvid is still bad here. Record number of patients on ventilators in the state. My hospital has had no covid beds available at all for the last 3 weeks….regular beds or ICU beds. In fact we’ve had no ICU beds of any type available for about a week and a half now. I stay home even though I’m vaccinated. Can’t afford to get sick. Work stinks to high heaven. We are so short staffed now that it’s likely no one will get any PTO days of for the foreseeable future. Sigh. Anywho, hope everyone is doing well and I’m looking forward to the day that some cooler weather comes my way……in January or February probably.

Oh my word! What a way to start college! So glad she’s ok though.
-
Oh my goodness! What a shock! Congratulations on your new grandson though!

Oh No! I’m so sorry all of this is happening to you. Hospitals in Arkansas are in the same boat. Earlier this week it was reported by officials that there were only 8 ICU beds available for the entire state. My hospital had 42 COVID patients earlier this week in a 150-bed facility. We have had to move medical patients to our Rehab hospital to make room. It is so awful right now. I’ve spent the last two mornings looking for jobs outside of a hospital. Unfortunately they are few and far between for laboratory scientists in this area. I do hope your husband was finally able to get seen with his finger!

My sister and I went in 2013, at the end of August. It was hot but like we know it was a different kind of heat. I managed to survive and I’ve always been intolerant of our wet sticky heat you and I live with deal with down here. I don’t really remember how much cash I took but I took lots and gambling wasn’t even our priority. We went for the sole purpose of seeing Celine Dion but we did play slots while walking through the all the casinos. We did a ton of walking so be sure and take comfy comfy shoes. Our hotel was just off the strip but connected to Planet Hollywood so we were able to walk through that entire area in the A/C to get to the strip. Lol. We were only there a few days so we didn’t get much touristy stuff done but we still had lots of fun just walking around and enjoying all the hustle and bustle and eye-opening things. LOL. I mean “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” for sure. Do make a point to go to the Bellagio at night and watch the fountain shows. There is a botanical gardens there as well. Caesars Palace has luxury shopping…..NYC and Paris level luxury. We had a ball window shopping at those stores. We opted not to take the time to tour the Hoover Dam but I wish we had. If I ever get back I will do a tour no matter the cost. Hope you have fun!

Happy July. It’s hot, I’m old and fat and hate the heat more and more than I ever did, so needless to say it’s my least favorite time of year right now. LOL. Neighbors have been shooting off fireworks for several nights in a row now and it’s illegal to pop them in the city limits. COVID is ramping up again. Biggest jump in cases yesterday since February in the state at 800. My hospital has put some restrictions back in place and is opening up the COVID unit again. I don’t know if I can survive another round of COVID hell in the lab. It took me out and we still haven’t really recovered. Now we are running out of necessary (some quite critical) supplies to do lab work. Manufacturing plants cannot get the needed materials to make what we need so we are dangerously low on many many things and it’s a nationwide problem with no end in sight right now. So there’s that too. Annnnywho, I’m just a huge ball of cranky today. My apologies. Ha Ha. I’m gonna go give myself a talkin’ to and try to enjoy my day while staying inside out of the heat and rain.

I bought some of the freeze dried ice cream from Johnson Space Center when I got to visit years ago. It was interesting! LOL I want to go to Kennedy some day before I die or before I can’t tolerate travel anymore.
-
So far I’ve bought a 4-pk of charcoal toothbrushes and a pair of Adidas shoes.

Thanks for the input. I’m really disappointed that the s teen is already screwing up because I love it otherwise. I love my Hue lights. I have the regular ones too, nothing fancy. And I only have a few. I put them in the most heavily used room in my house.

Has anyone who owns/owned an Echo spot upgraded to an Echo Show 5? Thoughts? My Spot has been having screen jumping off and on for about a year now and it’s getting more frequent and more annoying. Sometimes it won’t respond to my instructions either. I outright screamed at Alexa yesterday morning to turn the bleeping alarm off and nothing. LOL. Highly disappointed that it hasn’t lasted longer than it did before issues set in.

What a wonderful weekend we had here. Record low highs over the whole weekend. I’m sure it made for some chilly boating on the lakes and BBQ’s but it was perfect temperatures for me. I’m on day 7 of an 11 day vacation and I’m already dreading going back to work Sunday. I’ve accomplished one thing and only one thing on my “to-do” list but I don’t even care.

Same. 3 days straight I went into to work with an umbrella that did nothing but keep my hair dry because it was raining so hard. I had wet socks all day long. My lab is in the process of being remodeled so we have nowhere to store anything right now, hence no rain boots worn. Lol. More rain expected today but at least I’m off the rest of the week.

Anyone have a 30% off code they done need for this cycle? If so could you PM me. Thanks! PS: I hate this new mess. I haven’t gotten a 30% code since it all changed.

Happy May! Seems hard to believe it’s May already.

My azaleas had just gotten to nearly full bloom and I had just potted some impatiens and vincas, and BAM.......mother nature strikes again down South too with freeze warnings and record low temps for April......We cannot win for losing.
