  1. Went to Kmart and Michaels in the afternoon: Kmart: Christmas tree lights and popcorn tins (Charlie Brown and Rudolph). got in a lane where she didn't have her rewards card and that had to be looked up and then the toys didn't ring up with the special prices. The manager had to come over and tell the clerk how to do it. It was one cart with two women but lo and behold they each had to check out separately. Then the second lady didn't have a reward card so they looked up the other ladies. Then she had to write a check. Then they asked for her drivers license. DOn't people know yet to get that stuff out of their purses ahead of time??? The line I was going to get into checked out 4 others before I finally got to check out in my lane. Kmart NEVER has enough checkout people. Even in the middle of the day-the time never seems to matter. Michaels: Clear plastic scrap book cases Christmas scrap stickers Christmas scrap book paper pads LED lights All on sale with an extra 30% off. Target: IPod Touch with $40.00 gift card for a friends son. And 5% off with Target red card. Younkers: 2 fleece throws 2 singing toothbrushes (not sure if I'm keeping) Memory pillow Purse 2 remote controls cars for a friend Christmas towel (.99 after $10.00 coupon). I think that's all! I was out for about 6 hours. I just enjoy the bustle. I swear Target had about 2000 people in line. Took me 45 minutes to get in, get the IPod and get out. Not too bad. It was pleasant in line. Great crowd control at Target. They really have a good system. I did go back there a few times to check the lines. By around 2:00 I could have walked up and gotten the IPod with no wait but you never know about that. The people in the line were nice so it was fine. I just think it's fun watching all the people even when I don't have much to get. Plus, I'm a night owl. But this morning I woke up with a cold. Oh well! Walked the mall. Went over to Kohls twice to check the lines. They are sooooo long there even after they've been open for two hours.
  2. Finally our candy went 70% off today.
  3. 90% off at my store. I was all alone for about 20 minutes! I got the last 4 of those blackish lamposts with the flicker lights. $5.00! Got some door curtain lights, those little pinecone looking lights, costumes, tshirts, boxers, sleep pants, lite-up gloves, baby sleepers, bibs, etc... Candy is still at 50% off! Ridiculous!
  4. Boo Hoo. Still 70% off today with candy 50%. Back again tomorrow. I did find 20 of the 2pk Puffs tissues. They must have found some in the back. So I did get all of those for myself, my sister, my son and my moms house. I think they were .89 which is a really good deal. Dollar spot gone and resetting for Christmas.
  5. I'll be at my store too. I sure hope it goes 90% off tomorrow so I don't have to get up early Tuesday. (I work evenings).
  6. All our candy and food products are still only 30% off. Dollar spot and rest of Halloween 70% off. Does everyone think Monday will be the 90% off?
  7. Actually I don't think the glow sticks were purple dot. I think they were orange stars or something. The ones in the tubes. There were quite a few different "dot" colors. It's quite a mess. I think there are the purple ones on sale and 3 other colors/shapes. Kind of unusual to have so many at one time.
  8. This is the first year in about 20 years that I was NOT at Target when it opened this morning. I decided to sleep since I'm usually up until 4:00 or 5:00 am. I did get a phone call (politics *sigh*) at 9:30 so I went over there then. They still had everything I wanted! I just came back from there again (7:30PM) and I'm really, really surprised with all the lights they have left. Not all the regular LED's but lots of the deco ones (tin owls, LED tiny ghosts, spiders, etc...) They are NEVER there more than a few hours. There was half an aisle left. I find that really confusing and a little concerning. On the other hand most of the little packaged give out toys were gone. I guess this just wasn't a big year for lights or people just didn't like the styles. I am one of the people that will buy lots of something that I know I will use. I'm stocked up on Kleenex, foil, etc... but I would always get paper towels if they are available. I use them all year long and they don't go bad so if I'm there and there are some left I'll grab a dozen. I would do the same thing for trash bags. Everything else I wouldn't take that many of. I do shop for lots of people (my best friend has 9 kids) and lots of charities. If someone asks me for something I have alot of I will give them one. If someone is deperately looking for something and I have multiples I will give them one. I do share but I also get alot. So remember that when you see someone with a cartful-they might be sharing! I don't like the re-salers coming in and scooping everything up though. That is dis-heartening. I've seen it happen many times. And it's really low when people take stuff out of your cart when you are not looking!
  9. You'd be better off getting some flameless candles. I bought a flameless jar candle with a timer at Younkers last March (possibly April but I think it was March). I run it 6 hrs everyday on the timer and it's still going on the same set of batteries! That would probably be a better investment.
  10. So true as I grabbed some Halloween paper towels this morning.....
  11. Actually with Kohls sales, pick a days, Kohls cash, etc... you could probably get the Kohls coat cheaper than Penneys. For example if it was on sale for 30% off and you had your pick a day for 15% it would be $86.00. Plus if they were giving out Kohls cash you would also get a $10.00 coupon. Obviously it would be even better if it was 40% off and you had a scratch off for 20% off (that would make it $69). I know it's kind of a pain with coupons but hey we're on "gottadeal" for a reason! :) Also I was told at Kohls that an item has to be regular price for one week a month. That's the reason it seems like most of the inventory is on sale most of the time.
  12. Are you sure they are both triangles? I got confused because the "new" orange ones are orange stars not triangles. It's very confusing as they look similar. I don't know why they would do back to back of the same color and with similar shapes. There were quite a few things I would have gotten but they were the orange stars and not the orange triangles.
  13. Well shoot. I didn't go there today. I went yesterday and nothing was newly marked down. Oh well.
  14. 70% off but all the signs say 50% off. I told the clerks about it-don't know if they will change it or not. The date on the 50% off sign was 7/5-7/6 so I figured it would be today that it would go 70% and it did.
  15. Most of the clearance garden stuff at my store went 70% off. They are putting out school so they need to get rid of the clearance.
  16. I agree. It depends alot on what the item is as to how much money they make on it. They are a huge business so I'm sure they can get huge lots really cheap. More speciality items-like Legos-they would certainly lose money at 75% off. However, it's getting the people into the store that makes the profits. I used to be a 3-4 times a week Target clearance shopper. Most importantly though I was a loyal shopper and bought my regular price stuff there too. Now I probably go there maybe once every 10 days or so. I do not like the new arrangement of the product that was done last year in my store. I swear I could design a better layout with NO business background! I buy my food at Walmart or HyVee. And now Penneys is going sort of the same route and I've significantly stopped my shopping there. It's just so boring. Instead I am shopping at Younkers which I NEVER thought I would do (too expensive). Today Younkers had a $50.00 off a $100.00 purchase. For $59.00 dollars I got a bracelet, some jean leggings, a new bra, some mens Polo flip flops AND the last pair of Birkenstock sandals that were on sale for $49.99 instead of $79.99. So they were free! I was so excited. Target has lost me and now I think Penneys is losing me. I just loved the good old days at Target!
  17. Was that the limited amount of St. Pat's stuff? That's all I saw.
  18. Oh that's so cute! I tried giving up shopping one year but couldn't do it!
  19. Check out your Penneys on Friday. They are doing markdowns and my store has some great deals. Mens robes $3.00, all clearance mens underwear and socks $2.00, etc... It would be worth a trip.
  20. I think the reason they did it on Saturday is because those items were probably past their computer generated markdown dates and left up to the store to price. Those deals don't seem to be following the twice a month new markdown system. I went tonight and got tons of stuff. They had some mens sport coats for $9.00. They had all the clearance mens underwear for $2.00 and all the clearance socks $2.00. Thermals were $5.00 and robes were $3.00. They haven't done any of the other departments yet so I'm going first thing in the am. Oh, all the ladies winter tights were $1.00. Great deals-just like the old days!
  21. They are there with those Best Value little blue signs or signs with a dollar amount, like $10.00 and up. Gone are the big clearance signs like they used to have. You just have to look for them. I know tomorrow they are doing another big round of markdowns (and tomorrow night) so I will be in there to see what racks they are starting to mark down. Our Penneys is really, really nice so I'm sure they will tell me what's going to be marked down. I even wrote the CEO to tell him how nice our store manager is and the other employees too. There's only one I'm not too crazy about, alot of them know me by name. There's one clerk there that I tell about bargains at Younkers, Children's Place, Old Navy, etc... if it gets really low. She has three kids and she's really nice. I'm sure she gets alot at Penneys but it always nice to get other bargains too. During peak clearance season I'm there about every day. Last week they marked down sheet sets-queens were $8; full $7 and twin $4. They must have been after the last markdown and left to the store to price. Stocked up on sheets! Good luck, I hope you find bargains at your store too.
  22. Actually I'm liking it better now. I'm not a regular price shopper so I haven't even looked at the regular prices. However, they are doing some pretty good markdowns afterall. Tomorrow they will start marking down again for the 3rd Friday markdowns. They just sold all their girl coats for $10.00 (even the $100.00+ ones). Over the weekend they marked the boys pj's $1.00 (missed that 'cause I was sick). I got some $2.00 mens polo shirts, etc... I think when it goes to the 3rd markdown the store can price it what they want. So, I wouldn't give up on Penneys until they go through one full season and see what happens. I'm sure it will vary from city to city but so far so good here.
