Thanks OP! -
I am so glad I asked this question. It was nice to hear about everyone's traditions. We are still contemplating a real tree. :) DH has a busy couple of weeks coming up so we would first have to find time to get one together. If we do not get on I'll definitely have to pick up a Big Dipper Pine scented candle. They smell so good, as close to a real tree as I have found and they are naturally scented with pure essential oils. Their Noel and Cinnamon scent are quite lovely too! http://www.bigdipperwaxworks.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_ID=10

My grandma enjoyed dvd's of live operas and classic movies like Charade, anything with Jimmy Stewart, Katherine Hepburn, etc...

I don't have one, but have seen them. They would be great for someone that loves to entertain. Like this one? http://www.amazon.com/Waring-BFS50B-Professional-Buffet-Warming/dp/B001BXQHI4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1289857090&sr=8-1 I'm getting a pressure cooker for my Dad for Christmas. Does your mom have a pressure cooker?

Our Thanksgiving is traditional too, well except that it won't be on Thanksgiving this year. It's a little confusing. We will have a Thanksgiving meal at DH's work before his group goes out of town. A few days later we will have our own Thanksgiving meal with Turkey, gravy (LOVE homemade gravy!) homemade stuffing YUM!, mashed potatoes with an obscene amount of butter in them, corn, and pie. I will most likely make a pumpkin, but I kinda want a sweet potato pie too. I also make my own cranberry sauce, but just a small amount since I am the only one that eats it. I am so hungry for turkey right now!

She sounds like a very responsible young woman. I know she will be thrilled to get her ipod touch. We gave one to my Dad last year for Christmas and he LOVES it! He plays with it all the time. Have fun this Christmas! -
I give to an Angel Tree in my area that asks people to spend no more than $20 each. It always amazes me how much I can find for $20. The recipients are women from the local domestic violence shelter and their children.

I find it interesting that they are unwilling to price match the doorbusters. I know they could lose money, but if you go to a completely different store for the item you had planned on price matching then they lost any purchases you may have made while you were there. smh

:holiday07I prefer real trees, the beauty the scent. We almost always had real trees while I was growing up. I loved going out as a family and picking out the perfect tree. Now we mostly decorate a fake tree. We purchased it for $19.99 at Target a few years back when they were 90% off after Christmas. It's a beautiful tree, but it isn't real. :) We did buy a real tree last year and it was beautiful. I thought about buying another real tree this year, but I'm just not sure I want to spend the money on it. So what type of tree does your family decorate each year?

We don't have a specific day, but I love having the up as long as possible. The earliest I ever took the tree down was December 27th and that was only because we had purchased a real tree that year and it dried out so fast that it was leaning quite a bit on the 27th. I was afraid that it would fall and break our ornaments. I was also concerned about fire. The lights were in great shape, but it still made me nervous.

None. I always think/plan/forget to send Christmas cards. The postage has gotten so expensive and I find it hard to not write a long letter in each one. Which means the cards take me forever to do. I am thinking/planning/trying to get my butt in gear to send them this year. We live out of state and it is nice to keep in touch with our families. However, DH's side is so much bigger than mine so I think he should do the cards! ha! It would be about 20 or so cards

I plan on writing to Sears to let them know how much I dislike them being open on Thanksgiving and that i will not be supporting them. Maybe if people contact them and do not shop they will not do this next year. The same goes for TRU too!

I'm sure it is frustrating for you when the ad has been leaked and CNN Money has written an article and they still haven't pulled the legal threat. However, I think it is wonderful that you are doing what you need to do to protect your business while providing your customers with as much information as possible. Thank you!

I had an Acer laptop for about three years and it started to go downhill a few months ago and the battery now only stays charged for 5 minutes. Ugh! However, my husband said that this is pretty normal for PC's. I never had to deal with their customer service so I can't give you any info there. Other than that I have been quite happy with my Acer. I know nothing about Compaq.

I haven't seen any lately. I just wanted to add that the $15 for 15 week memberships are good for people who are unsure if it is worth it for them to join full-time. Sam's is good for my parents (I was checking this thread for them), but for my DH and I it isn't worth it. Especially now that the one close to us closed.

Does anyone know where I can bring loose photos and have them scanned to disk? Target did do it, but they don't anymore. At least the one in my area doesn't. I can scan them myself and gave them put it on a disk, but doing 150+ at one of their kiosks seems like a bit much. -

Does anyone know where I can find a Buckeye recipe that does not include paraffin? My husband likes them, but the whole idea of eating wax kinda creeps me out.:)

I wasn't able to get the gift card at Walmart, but I did see that BB will be selling $50 cards for $40 on BF. I had not planned on going to BB, but there is one that isn't too busy about 5 miles from here. If anyone sees anything else please let me know. Thanks!

One of the issues with buying and price adjusting is you may not get the $10 gift card with a $100 purchase. Thankfully the items I am looking for are not big ticket "hot" items.
-
I hope they didn't change the price adjustment policy.

Good luck! I've never had a problem with dogs and tree's and hopefully you won't either!
