  1. AAAGGGHHH............Got shipping on the last DVD set but still NO computer. I will not believe it until I have it in my hands. We all know that in earlier years BB has been notorious for cancelling orders. I only hope that a signature is required. UPS dropped my SmartPost order from Target at the wrong post office and I had to wait an extra 2 days to get it.
  2. 5 of the 6 DVD sets I ordered Thursday about 8am have shipped, but not the laptop I ordered at 2:15am. One DVD set waiting as well. I'm really getting nervous about the computer as that is the one thing we really need. I hope it ships soon.
  3. Got up this morning and my DVDs were still in my cart so I signed back in and checked out. No muss, no fuss. May go back to bed. Now I just pray the order for the computer isn't cancelled for some reason. Happy Thanksgiving to all!
  4. I got all the DVDs in the cart but I'm exhausted. Now I can't even bring up the cart. Not sure I want them this bad so I may just go to bed. Nite!
  5. Now I'm getting an error message that says Temporarily Unavailable. Check back later or go to store. UGH!!
  6. Got my computer and email confirmation. Now just hope it comes. Trying to order some DVDs and is taking forever. Plus it added one of them twice and now won't let me take one off! One would think that BB knows they are going to get this traffic and have their website prepared.
  7. I am watching an item to see if the pricing changes before tonight, so I keep refreshing. I really need to get this laptop for my hubby. Monday it said out of stock, but I'm not an Elite member anyway. Yesterday it said in stock but regular price. This morning it was still regular price and still in stock. Now it is saying out of stock. The pricing for me has never changed, but I'm not sure what is going on. Does all this really mean it is now out of stock? Is it just a ploy of BB where they release a few at a time? I don't want to stay up until 1 or 2am if I have no hope of getting it. I have not been in a position before where it is something I really needed to get. I somehow can't believe that people would be buying it knowing it will be much cheaper later on (unless money is no object), but maybe it is on sale for the Elite but not for the rest of us? I'm frustrated.
  8. I did stay up for it and was sadly disappointed. What a joke. My DH desperately needs a new laptop and I was hoping the one he wanted would be on the sale for us "regular" people, but guess not. I noticed it said "out of stock" so may have been on the elite sale. Hope they have more.
  9. I missed the one at Black Friday last year with Verizon as I just wasn't healthy enough to fight the crowds. But they ran the same deal again near the end of December so I was able to get my Galaxy 7 for $10/month for 24 months. Also had the iPhone on the same sale.
  10. I bought a high end Lenovo (about $1100) about 2 years ago and the hard drive died in 2 months. Took it back to Best Buy and they refused to exchange it. Sent it in for warranty service and I had to wait about 6 weeks to get it back because the drives were out of stock. After getting it back I had problems with the WiFi and discovered the WiFi card wasn't powerful enough, so I had to buy a better one and install it. I chose it because of the great reviews both with customers and pros, but I would be hard pressed to recommend them.
  11. I will definitely have to keep this in mind. DH (66yo) needs a new one as he has beat my old one to death and I'm tired of hearing him swear at it. Amazing how I pass on perfectly good items and he manages to kill them off. I guess little boys never grow up, their toys just get more expensive. And he takes forever to make a decision about something (his car is falling apart, yet he has dallied on buying something else for 3 years), so maybe just buying one for him is the best way to go, especially since I'm the one that has to "fix" things when he screws them up. He is far from a geek, he just does email, puzzles, and surfs a lot, so nothing spectacular is needed. And probably not a touch screen either as mine drives him crazy.
  12. The one Christmas Eve tradition we have always done is sitting round the tree, watching Christmas movies (preferably It's A Wonderful Life) and then open one present only. I did that with my parents and we continued with our DD. We still do that but a couple of years ago we started having a Christmas Eve afternoon tea. We have several kinds of tea, make little sandwiches, scones and little desserts. It's very nice and relaxing.
  13. Thank you. I guess I'll have to actually think a bit about it. I am on my DD's plan and I'm not sure that she wants to stay with Verizon for 2 more years. Where she lives in CT she get no V cell reception (she uses Google Voice with it) and was thinking about changing. But now they are talking about moving back to central NY where she had strong V reception. I guess if she gets a new phone I should be safe. I actually spoke with a Best Buy mobile rep today and he seemed to think the same thing. But he also said that I need to check when Verizon's promo starts as they might be able to give me both that and the BB promo. Not sure but said to try. But no way am I going to fight BB crowds early in the day.
  14. It looks as though Verizon has made a fuss about it's posting. My question is............on the cell phones as low as $10/month, I'm confused a bit about the fine print. If I want the S7 am I going to have to pay the entire $672 up front and then get the $432 over the 24 months, or are they going to charge the $672 over the 24 months while deducting the $432 over the 24 months for a total $10 per month? I really can't pay that much up front but the $10/month I could handle. Any thoughts?
  15. We lost interest in going out several years ago. Getting older doesn't work well to stand outside in the cold for hours on end and DH just isn't happy in crowds, especially when we found out that a lot of the stuff we wanted was still available later in the day. We used to go to Staples and get a bunch of stuff, but being able to do it online is just easier for us. A couple years ago I had hip surgery in November and was forced to do it all online and discovered I had a lot less stress, so did it last year and will do it again this year. No one will be disappointed if they don't get a certain item, so that helps. We have a new son in law this year so had to add him to our lists, but he is even harder to buy for that my DH, so his main gift will be a Visa gift card bought from AAA when they have their "no fee" promotion. When grandkids come along it may change, but then again maybe not.
  16. I'm mostly done on the "gift parts" and the rest will be gift cards. Biggest thing for DH is an "experience" and that won't be on sale, but I'm waiting a bit to stretch out the spending. I do need to find a few small things for stocking stuffers for everyone. There is only 4 of us, so not a lot. DD just got married this year and they got a lot for the wedding and they don't want much else until they buy their new home so they don't have to store any more stuff. Black Friday will be for getting things for us such as DVDs.
  17. I really love this idea. So many charities out there for kids and families but not a lot for seniors. We live in a 55+ community and are getting together to buy little gifts for residents in a nursing home and going to deliver them the week before Christmas along with caroling. Two of my friends visit nursing homes with their therapy dogs and the people there love it. Most just want some company and time, and of course they remember the dogs they had and appreciate interacting with these dogs. Speaking of...........don't forget to remember the local animal shelters. Most of them get no help at all from the government and could use all sorts of things not only at Christmas but all year through.
  18. Love, love, love the Hallmark ones. I decided this year to record my absolute favs so I can watch when I want. I think I have about 8 or 10 recorded. My top favorite is The Most Wonderful Time of the Year with Henry Winkler. I think I have watched it at least a dozen times over the past couple of years. About the only non-Hallmark one I watch is It's a Wonderful Life, but I have the DVD so we watch when we want. We usually watch it when DD is home and it has become a tradition.
  19. I can't imagine it would be, plus I have found that most voice software doesn't work all that well. I'm glad that they were still taking orders last night for the Fire stick, although it isn't to be shipped until 12/15. Last night we tried to use our Prime on our LG smart tv to stream a movie. Imagine our shock when we couldn't find Prime on the list. Tried everything I knew to get it to come up. Out of frustration I tried searching for a fix and found out that Amazon has stopped supporting Prime on certain TVs that use Google software. Their feud has screwed a bunch of people whose smart TVs now don't get Prime unless you buy some sort of streaming device........like the Fire stick. Doesn't matter if you have Prime or not, if your TV has Google software Amazon streaming doesn't run on it.
  20. Whenever I can motivate my DH to pull the stuff out of the attic. He is doing everything else instead. He doesn't like to do it, so he procrastinates. Have to do it before the 5th as he is leaving town for 2 weeks.
  21. So far everything has been online. DH ran down to Lowe's for something today and I didn't even go out. I currently have to use a cane to walk so standing in long lines and fighting people isn't something I can do, and besides I'm too old for that crap anymore. Got some tops for myself and 5 of the 8.99 throws (gifts and us) from Kohl's when they first came up, DVDs from Target and BB (for us) yesterday early morning, some Body Shop items including their tote and the 3 for $36 stuff for gifts and me, some supplies for my crafting business Wednesday evening at 25% entire order plus free shipping (they have one sale per year and this is it), and some items from The Container Store that DD wanted for her wedding in June. Poor AmEx card is melting. Have concluded that DD and future SIL are both done, done, done. Now will check out a few things next week for DH. And I have to get a couple small things for two friends of mine. Actually might consider Edible Arrangements for them if I get a good sale offer. Who knows. Arrived today are the throws from Kohl's and a few of the DVDs from Target.
  22. Does anybody know if The Container Store is going to be offering anything special for Black Friday? I have enough to order for free shipping but am waiting to see if they might offer a percentage off.
  23. I'm having a really hard time this year. We bought a new house earlier and have been putting so much into it that I don't feel right about spending more money. We only buy for DD and future SIL, and each other, so it's not a big thing...but still. Plus we downsized (retirement) so really don't want things to sit around either. I have put a few crafting items on my Pinterest list, but that's it. DD says she only wants stuff to help with the wedding, but I hate to give her stuff that will only be useful for one day. I am making her invites, thank you cards and favors, but I don't think that's a very good Christmas present. Future SIL gets a gift card as he's rather picky. Hopefully I'll get some ideas when I fully study the ads.
  24. I used to collect a LOT of Hallmark ornaments, but when we retired I gave some to daughter and sold a bunch. Only have enough to decorate our tree, but did keep all the mini ornaments that I had. Now I only purchase the Frosty Friends for daughter and the Puppy Love series for me. Once in awhile I will get a special one, like next year I will get daughter the one celebrating her wedding.
  25. I did all of my shopping online last year, along with some things earlier. I'll do the same this year as I'm having hip replacement surgery on 11/4, so that takes care of that. Thanks to GD I knew what I wanted and just logged on and got it. I only buy for 3 people and 2 of them are almost done. And I have no idea what to get my hubby anyway. I'm one of those who hates the early starts. I don't think it should start until at least midnight Friday.....totally ridiculous.
