  1. I was signed in at Sam's Club, had everything in my cart and went to check out and it logged me out and I haven't been able to log back in for almost 15 minutes. I will log in, it will bring up my cart with things missing, but tells me I need to log in. Really???? If you are going to do something early, then make sure your stupid website is going to work!!! I was there, had stuff in my cart, and.....then gone!
  2. Well, I got the email but there was no coupon with it. And I even have a JCP credit card. Oh well, just another reason to cancel it. I only kept it to get bonus percent off when offered during sales, but if they aren't doing that anymore there is absolutely no reason to keep it.
  3. Well, this is annoying. My DH has gone to the local Sears outlet several times over the past 3 months trying to get one of the 3pc. storage sets for $199 that they consistently advertise, and they NEVER have all three pieces in stock! Guy keeps saying that they never send them all three pcs. And now they still have it advertised in their flyer again.
  4. Well that stinks as I ordered after you. Not really happy that now they have my email contact and my credit card info!! Guess I will be watching the charges closely.
  5. Yes, thank you as well! DH really wanted one for books (larger screen than Kindle, etc.) and it's rare that he does that. Definately not going in expecting it, but at least I got to try and not hit with an out of stock right up front.
  6. I notice that BB has the TomTom 550TM and the Amazon is 540TM. Is there a difference between them? I ordered the one on Amazon because it's easier than waiting outside to maybe get it. Plus no tax or shipping. But if the 550 has something extra I might try for it online at BB and return the 540. I'm not seeing anything in the description, but who knows.
  7. Pet Semetary by Stephen King I love all kinds of books!
  8. A full priced, or even decent priced, signed contract for the house we are trying to sell. That's the only thing that I really want this year.
  9. I voted significantly less. We haven't been able to sell our other house, so are supporting 2 houses this year, plus I haven't been able to find a job doing anything, much less what I have my degree in. Luckily DH and I only buy for each other and for DD, who is 26 so she understands. And since we are downsizing we really don't need anything for ourselves. Not even sure we will go out on BF because it will be too hard to resist if we see something we really want.
  10. Frankly, I'd skip the Linksys and go with the Netgear. I replaced an older Netgear with a brand new model Linksys because I wanted to run multiple computers and my Wii off it and I am way disappointed. It's slower than my old Netgear even on just one computer. My software engineer daughter was concerned about getting a Linksys replacement, and I wish I had listened to her. May have to replace it again in a bit if it doesn't improve.
  11. Can anybody get the new "Shop All Sale Items" link to work? It just changed over from yesterday's home page, but when I click on the link it says nothing found? And I wonder when are the DVD sets going on?? The router I was looking at is already not available for shipping and a few DVDs are the only other things that I want!
  12. Does anybody know if Office Max price matches?
  13. I think it's all ridiculous about not wanting people to see these early. This year the stores are going to be begging people to come in and shop and even then the holiday season is going to be really bad. All the financial talking heads and Wall St. have scared the bejeebers out of everybody so bad that people are going to be hoarding their cash. If I were a store I would want to make sure that people could put me in their shopping plans, IF they even had any. Last couple of years we have gone to Staples first thing and then to Target in the afternoon. May even shop at Staples online instead of freezing in line. Did hit BB last year because our daughter wanted a digicam, but that's it. This year may not even do that depending on what people have on sale. The only thing I'm looking for is a GPS and I can probably find those anytime on sale. Luckily, though, I don't have a lot of people to shop for. Just hubby and daughter and MIL. And since we bought a new house this year hubby and I may just forget the gifts. For the person looking for a printer, check out all the office supply places. I found a HP wireless photo printer scanner at Office Max last year for $150 off (basically 1/2 price). And it was in the later afternoon of BF. They still had lots left. Walked in, found the deal, checked out. Check out took about 5 minutes.
  14. I have gone to two different Staples the last two years. The first one was semi organized and had people actually come out before the doors opened and gave out tickets. They would go down the line and ask what you wanted and gave you those tickets. Then we filed in past tables that had the other items and you could pick those up as you went past. You checked out at the regular registers and they had all of them up and running. The second one was organized until you got to the door. They had 2 people sitting at a table handing out the tickets (get off your duffs, people!!) and it was a massive crowd around the table. Then when I got through I checked my tickets and they had given me the wrong ones! So I had to go back to exchange them, which had me encounter nasty looks from the people getting theirs as though I had cut in line! Also checked out at the regular registers with all of them running. This year, there wasn't too much that I wanted there, so I checked right after 6am and ended up getting everything I needed online. My daughter, however, also put in an order online and it said everything was in stock, but her confirmation never came through. She contacted them and they said their server was busy, but they were sure it had gone through. Unfortunately later that evening she got a call from someone telling her that the GPS was out of stock (it took the computer 14 hours to figure this out????) and because of that she couldn't use the discount card she had either. She took the RAM anyway, but was annoyed that they wouldn't accept the card because it was their fault that the computer didn't have the right info. Plus had she known upfront earlier that it was out she could have gotten one when we went to Best Buy later that morning.
  15. Wow you all got some great deals! We decided that there wasn't any huge thing to stand in line for this year, so we went out later. But I got up a bit early and got the two things from Staples that I wanted from their website so we didn't have to go there. Went to Office Max and got a great HP Wireless Photosmart Printer C7180 for $149.99! It was like $250 off! That was my Christmas present from hubby because I am a scrapbooker. I got hubby one of those Sony DVD recorders that you don't need a computer from Sears. Got the last one! Since we are building a retirement home we aren't spending much for Christmas. I did order one of the LE Nintendo DS from Amazon for daughter Friday evening, but if I can get one from TRU on Monday for the 20% off Paypal deal, I'll return it for the better deal. But if they go out of stock at least I'll have the first one.
  16. I did three of them from Staples on BF. All say they have been printed/mailed. I received the cheap one over two weeks ago, but the two larger ones haven't made it yet. I just emailed them about it. My FIL hated grocery coupons. He said that they should just lower the cost of the product and save the hassle for both the customer and the store.
  17. I have to make a comment here. My daughter is very good friends with a guy who actually works for Amazon and is a computer engineer and part of the group working on this promotion. They stress and load tested their servers for several weeks before the first one (with the xBox). For a couple days before and during it, these guys were working 12-14 hour days getting ready for this (and since they are salaried, they get no overtime pay for this!). They expected about 1-2 million hits.......they got 3-4 times that many. Not only did it clog the buffers they had built in, but spilled over onto the website servers as well and caused problems for people trying to order regular items. BTW....the xbox sold out in 19 seconds! And no, the employees didn't get any consideration. In fact, I don't think they were even allowed to purchase them. Second week.......they did even more stress and load testing and changed the process a bit. Guess what......they got tons of people, but this time it was the robots that people were using to reload every millisecond that literally blew up the system that the promotion was on. They were trying to protect their regular site for people not involved in it, and because of the 'bots, they had problems. Oh.....portable DVD sold out in 4 seconds this time. Neither my daughter nor myself could get through. Because of all the moaning and complaining and threatening lawsuits that everybody was doing on their site forums, and for the sanity of the people working on it, they decided to change the rules. Had people been a little less greedy and not "cheated", things might have not gone as bad. So that's why the rules changed. These guys really tried, but couldn't satisfy anybody. Sorry, but since I know a little about what was happening behind the scenes I felt that I needed to speak up in defense of the guys trying to make this promotion fly. You guys are actually very nice compared to the things being said on the Amazon forums themselves! DD claims that her friend doesn't get paid near enough for what is expected of him there! Plus he doesn't get the discount that you would expect. In fact, it's pretty chintzy. I voted but I have even less chance at that than I did getting through with the masses since I never win anything at all. So it doesn't really matter. What I voted for I won't buy at the runner up price anyway.
  18. Is there some code to enter? I can't find any on the site, yet when I try to check out with only one item I don't get a discount. And it's not one of the excluded items. I haven't entered my payment info yet......does it come up after that? Help? I just did enter my payment info (but didn't click to send the order) and it still doesn't come up.
  19. Same with the Nintendo DS Lite. $129.99 is the retail price!!! So unless they are sticking at least 2 games with it, that's no bargain at all.
  20. You know, I just really don't understand this. Retailers were crying about how October was really bad for sales and how they were going to have to discount more to get people in.......and then they give us these crappy ads!?!?!?!? The only items that I might even be vaguely interested in are at stores in an area that DH refuses to go to on BF because of the traffic nightmare there always is even on regular weekends. There is no way I'm going to go running to 10 different stores to LOOK at 10 different items. Way too frustrating! And since I have to drive a minimum of 45 minutes to get anything half way decent, I think I'll save the gas and buy online.......probably just as cheap and a lot warmer! Maybe we'll get luckier in December.
  21. I totally agree! I know others will say otherwise, but I swear by Singer (although they have cheapies, too). I have had my electronic machine for about 25 years, it was one of the first ones out there, and it is still going strong. I have only had one thing go wrong and it was minor adjustment. I just take it in for a good cleaning and overhaul about every 3 years and it's like the Energizer bunny.....keeps going and going. I have done TONS of sewing on it, everything from sheer fabrics to heavy denim and it works great. Even fleece didn't stop it when it had tons of lint in it. I just took the bottom off and cleaned it out a bit afterwards so that it didn't build up too much. The cheaper ones out there now are mostly plastic and look really flimsy. I would go for something that is made better and it will last her a long time.
  22. Me, too! But he just doesn't see it. Claims he won't replace it until it actually goes bad, but I can see the drool running out of his mouth everytime we go into a store that has a large collection of BIG LCDs.
  23. DH wants to replace the main TV in the family room. It's a 25 year old Mitsubishi and IMHO is still working fine. Twice it had a spell of fading in and out, but that was several months ago and it's OK now. I think it was in the cable and not the TV (Adelphia changing over to Comcast). He just wants a bigger one, like his brother got. Monkey see, monkey do with those two. Since he can only sit about 8' from it anyhow (narrow room), I don't see why we have to have a bigger one.
  24. Rats!! I was so looking forward to the Staples ad.........what a disappointment!! I'm not sure there is even anything there worth it! I was checking out the Western Digital external hard drive, but I want one that has software that will allow me to schedule backups and I can't find if this one will do that or not. And........Where is Norton Systemworks???? McAfee and my computer don't like each other at all and they "fight" constantly. When I first got this computer I put McAfee on and it wouldn't work at all. Called Dell and they told me that a lot of people have problems with McAfee. I changed to Norton and it works perfectly. I can't believe the NO ONE so far has Norton!!!! For the last two years Staples has had it free after MIR.
  25. I totally agree!! No Wally World for me......too many crazies!
