  1. You got the exact one listed in the BF ad for the price listed with the monitor and printer? Great deal but there is probably somethindifferent, they put them away until BF and they must have the minimum ammount listed in the ad for each store. Some stores will have more of the item but they must have at least the minimum listed or they could get in trouble for fraud. By the way, the retail for that system with 1 gig memory and 160 gig hard drive without the printer or monitor is $299 on the eMachines wesite. It's a good deal for a nice compact computer if you are limited on space but want the power of a desktop.
  2. Freesia... ssshhhhhh don't tell them about the $229 laptop, I really don't need the competition, lol. It's been confirmed, someone even posted the model number which of course does no good since it's a special BF made computer and not on any website. There is also still a rumor of a Sony laptop for $299, last year they had it for $399. Please note, the $229 laptops will not be available at the store I am going to so there is no need get there early, lol.
  3. Last year the 500 gig at BB was $119, the 500 gig at Staples was $99. I was hoping to get a 2TB this year in the $150 range, doesn't look god so far. I was looking to get rid af all my smaller external HDs and get 2 huge ones to sore everything on. Currently I have 3870 gigs so I need 2 2tb, but I'm not going to pay $150 for a 1tb.
  4. Seriously since Walmart did this last year let's see how they like it if this site stopped posting anything Walmart related? Like many of the others on here, I make my BF plans long before the ads are "officialy" released. I have Best Buy (my first stop after my over night after getting there Thanksgiving morning) Staples (which I am not sure I am going to bother wih since there ad hasn't been posted), and Sears. Usually a few others mixed in if there is time.Looks like Circuit City will be taking my business from Staples, and Target will be getting my Walmart business. Easier that way in any case since Best Buy, Circuit City, Kohls, Target, Staples, Sears, and almost every other major retailer is within walking distance and Walmart requires me to drive 5 miles. I'll probably just stay in the one area which is less than 2 miles from my house instead of wasting my time with Walmart which doesn't even tell when they will give out tickets or where for the items listed and in many cases the employees get almost 50% of the tickets by the time the customers even know theare available. I'd rather stay in line at Best Buy all day Thanksgiving and all night and be sure to get the items I want rather than go to Walmart for any of the doorbusters since it's not a matter of when you get there, but more who you know and getting lucky to be at the place where they give out the tickets when they choose to give them out. Hey Walmart execs, hope you read this post since I could rant all day about how the only ones that really get your best doorbusters are the employyes, and the assistant manager who not only kept one for herself but put one away for her son and another for her husband to pick up later in the day. I haven't returned for any of your sales items since and have no intention of doing it in the future. Besides, the Best Buy ads are much better any way!
  5. Wow. I just checked the list of the stores closing and glad to see mine is not on the list. I thought for sure it would be with a Best Buy and Target across the street, and Walmart 5 miles away. The next nearest CC is about 45 minutes from me and I would not go that far. I usually like to order my items on line and get there to pick it up in 24 minutes. I hate buying at the store where you can't compre the items and I hate paying shipping on items so this is by far the best way to shop. I love CC and it is a shame to see them in trouble :-(
  6. Any idea when the rest of the ad will be posted? I usually pass by Staples after Best Buy to get a few items but if I don't get to see the list soon I may just go to a backup plan and go someplace else.
  7. You might want to try what we do. We actually atrt a list where people sign in. The first 80 people or so sign their names and Best Buy in the past has respected the list since the only ones not on it in the first 80 or so were the line jumpers. The employees, after verifying the list was legit had the person who started the list call out the names and you enter to receive the tickets based on where you signed in, not how many people you pushed out of the way to get where you were standing. Also if you se cutters, tell the biggest people on line who cut them and let them handle it. In most cases the cutters will leave when confronted by a larger group of bigger guys, lol.
  8. HHHhmmmmm, telling people where and when you plan toget on line? Glad I'm not in the area, I'd get there by 5pm Wednesday so I could be first on line, lol. I will openly tell what time I plan to get on line, but I will not tell the time and location. Remember, the competition is scouting you out, lol.
  9. On BF they will have some sales on it. Find where it is cheapest and get there at a reasonable time but you won't have to be there as early unless it is a super low price with limited numbers available. Best Buy has lines for hours if you are not in and out quickly so take that into consideration as well. If that is all you are looking for you would be better off pay a little more and go to a small store like Gamestop as you said. The lines go a lot quicker than larger stores and if you want you still have time to get to other stores before all the deals are gone. To be able to do that at BB you have to be one of the first in the door which would mean you would have to stand in line all night, otherwise you can expect to be in line for approximately 2 hours or more to get the XBox.

    Laptops

No. They do not price match on BF for one thing. The other is the laptops they sell on BF are put on hold so they are not available to buy. They are made special for BF in most cases using slightly cheaper parts so they can afford to sell it at such a low price. They lose money on every one they sell as it is. It is used to get people in the door. An old bait and switch tactic that all reteilers use. You go in to buy a $229 laptop that gets sold out so you buy a $450 laptop instead because it's the only one left, and fill your cart with other sale items and a few non-sale items. Nah, not laughing. Fact is we all started at some time. Some just longer than others. This is about my 10th or 12th BF. I'm currently training a few rookie family members, including the next generation, my 10 year old daughter and 13 year old nephew.
  11. Just tell them ou have plans and get on line early Thursdy morning. Doesn't go over too well but eventually they will learn that you have to get on line early, lol. A few years ago you could eat dinner before getting on line. At the rate things are going in the past few years I'll be taking vacation the week of BF and get on line earlier every year. When I started I would get on line at midnight and be the 5th on line. Now I have to go before noon just to get the doorbusters. Actually going to be there between 7am and 9am this year.
  12. Thanks Freesia. That's part of the question I was going to answer. Last they had the ad that was shown on this site (currently available) but added a few additional items. Some of the rumors are a $229 Toshiba laptop and possibly a $299 Sony Vaio laptop. I don't remember seeing blank dvds in the ad, but they were on sale on a table in the store, not sure if it was even announced anyplace. They will also have a few items not announced on line or the ad but those are mostly small items under $20 range. Check back here either late Wednesday or on Thanksgivig (if you're not already on line, lol) and you will see all the advertised items. This site has the fastest updates on all newly announced deals.

    Desktop PC's

Forget only the problemof installing the motherboard, they usually go for $150 or more for anything decent. Than there is the problem of making sure it's all compatible, the time to install, etc... To be honest with the price of computers now I don't build them myself any more. I buy something stock that's decent and when possible I get external hard drives for additional space. Also before throwing out an old system I strip all the useful parts and buy an external case to put the hard drive in as another spare. Also a lot of motherboards are attatched to the video card, sound card, etc. so in many cases you have to replace everything. Sounds like you just got a bad system. My 2 year practically abuses his computer and it hasn't had any hardware problems, only software problems that I had to fix on occation.

    Desktop PC's

BTW, a big congrats to your 8 year old for figuring out the problem is a weak graphics card. If my 8 year old was smart enough to figure that out on his own he deserves the computer, lol. Never too soon to teach them. My youngest was 2 when he got his computer last year (the $199 eMachines) and my 4 year old got the $229 laptop. I wouldn;t dare tell the others behind me on line that my 2 and 4 yr old kids were getting the computers they were on line all night for and didn't get though, lol.

Depends on the type of games he plays. I know the laptop for $229 last year only had a 32 bit graphics card and wouldn't work with most new games. The Emachines last year for $199 has I believe a 128 bit video card ad worked well. Most computers with at least a 64 bit card can play current games but I'd recommend at least 128 bit video card or better. The Toshiba laptop for $379 has an allocated video card from 128 to 319 bits which should be fine. The Emachines for $299 should work fine as well although I am not sure what video card, but it's usually more than what a laptop has for a similar price. It's not easy to find the specs on the BF items since tehy are made just for BF and not usually available year round. You my be able to get the specs on or about Thanksgiving from the BB site if they sell it online.
  16. That's why they don't come in the entrance they have the customers line up at, lol. They come in through the mall at an undisclosed entrance where they are met by security. Even when they do open the doors to start handing out the tickets they are escorted by security and most of the time the police sends at least 1 car over and has one come by all night about every 20 minutes or so jus to make sure there are no problems. Thanksgiving the police just go from store to store almost all night making sure no one on the lines get into a fight.
  17. The $299 desktop is a nice system. It is not a full size desktop. According to the research I did it is anly 10.7" high, most are about 15 or 16". Plus it has an 18.5" screen. Last year it only had a 15". I got it last year and it still works 100%, never had a problem. Well worth the $100 for the upgrades from last year, but I'd still like to see the $199 desktop as well.
  18. We all say that right up until they give out the tickets, lol. Come on, you know you're going to get both the $229 laptop and the $379, lol. Same thing where I was last year. This one girl the entire night said she was only there to keep her friend company and wasn't going to buy anything. When the door opened to give out the tickets, guess who was the first to get the laptop? Makes no sense to stay all night and get nothing. At least find a few items to get, no one can leave BB on BF empty-handed. I usually require a U-boat cart to get my items out, lol.
  19. What laptop did you see last year for $150? The cheapest laptop was $229, desktop was $199. I got both, and yes they both had DVD writers.

    Laptops

The $229.98 laptop I have been hearing about is a Toshiba Satellite. I could look up the exact model number but fact is it is a special one made for Black Friday for Best Buy. In the past, the Sony Vaio you are referring to was listed at $399, rumor is that it will see for $299 this year. I'm hoping for both. Last year not all came with a DVD writer, this year none of them even list it since it is pretty much standard on all models at this point. Only negative is the video card for the Toshiba for $229 last year was only 32 bit and most games are 64 bit graphics. If you don't play games on it, that is an excellent system.

Some sites don't list all the items or they miss something. I mainly use this site but I do check a few others as well and I have seen it on at least 3 others.

    Laptops

The cheap laptops usually go the fastest, especially with the economy being the way it is. The first to go will probably be the $229 Toshiba (I'm pretty sure it will be listed in the additional ad), than the $379 Toshiba. I would say that the Sony with Blu-Ray you are looking for will sell out, but depending on how busy the location is I thin you could have a decent shot at it.
  23. Some time before now and 5AM Black Friday..... Seriously it depends on the location. If it's any of the locations that we are going to, we are die-hards and will always beat you to the location, lol. I would say the best bet is some time Thursday morning before 12 noon. In some locations near big cities you may want to get in line Wednesday night. If possible try driving by the location evey 30 minutes or so and get in line as soon as you see someone, or better yet, just get in line real early Thursday.
  24. Drove by BB today and I was very tempted to get on line except my wife is a party pooper and desn't want me to miss work for the next 2 weeks, lol
  25. I only discuss it because I will not reveal which BB I will be at. In someone in my area knew about this location or what time I was going to be there they would beat me to it. There are 2 other BBs within 40 minutes of my location and they are much more crowded. Don't need any of them catching on that the line at this location is much smaller. There was 5 miles of traffic around the one location last year at about 10PM. Long after I was on line, but still why let them know that that location is much busier.
