  1. You never know what will be in the their online sale. They could have it, but I won't give a definite answer unless I had a way of knowing for sure. Anything not listed as a doorbuster is usualy available for the entire day. In some stores Saturday as well. With limited quantities though I would figure it will sell out early to the people on line when the store opens. As I said earlier, the cheapest ones sell out first and than the more expnsive ones. If I was the one who waited on line all night for a computer and this was the only deal left and I had the money for it, I would get it as long as it fits my needs. Looks like a pretty powerful machine and for the price of it it is still a good deal.

    Laptops

The way I do the research since most model numbers won't help too much due to it being a special made laptop for BF, I go to the manufacturers site and see what the lowest specs are on their cheapest laptops. From there you can get an idea of what their lowest quality item is and figure the cheapest laptop for BF is someplace in that range, possibly a little lower in some specs. Most people don't think to ask about a video card, so that is one of th things they will go cheap on. The 3 things they will usually put the most money into are the most common specs that most people look at, the memory size, the processor speed (although most BF sales only state the tye, not the actual speed), and the hard drive capacity. Another thing the $229 laptop will probably not have is a DL DVD writer, which I believe the $379 has. Office Depot has the HP for $349. The fine print under the 99 is too blurry to read to know what exactly the deal is on this item. What I can tell you is Toshiba is better tha HP, and although I may cause some controversy with this one, I feel AMD is a better processor than the Intel ::::ducking flying objects being thrown from loyal Intel users::::: As far as the graphics cards used in HP, their lowest quality is the ATI Radeon HD 3200 which claims to be able to play all the latest 3D games. Doesn't specify the MBs but I would say it has to be at least 128. The next lowest is 256MB. The Toshiba at Best Buy as an allocated 128 - 319mb that can be adjusted if you need more than the 128 minimum. Also if you look at the MSRP the HP is $600, the Toshiba is $649. My best opinion would be to go for the Toshiba at Best Buy.
  3. Same thing here. The "greeter" at Walmart didn't speak English. I was trying to find where the sales flyers were since there were none by the door, and after asking 5 times and getting a blank look from him he started talking to me in Spanish. I have nothing against other races, but if you can't speak the language why would they put them in an area with customers?

    Laptops

I completely agree if the item is the exact same item but that is very rare with laptops. In my opinion the 2 best laptop brands are Sony and Toshiba. Everyone has their own opinion I'm sure but I have a Sony, 2 Toshibas, and a Compaq. My personal laptop is the Toshiba. I'm not sure which laptop you are refering to for $399 but if it's a Toshiba with the same specs as the one in the Best Buy ad I would say go for it. After years of doing BF sales I love the adrenaline rush and it's not even about any particuler item. Even if I wasn't going for more laptops this year I would be on a line someplace.
  5. Must be a town fire code or something. Where I am it's every man, woman, and child for yourself. They let you in, but if you're not careful you could be taken out on a stretcher, lol. Actually most of the people are fairly polite which is what I love about a small town where I live but you do get some from the cities near by and they are the ones that will cut into the line and then try to get physical if you argue about them cutting in. Last year the line stretched almost 1500 feet from the entrance and about 2 or 3 wide. Had to have been at least 2500 people on line, probably more, all in the store at the same time. You could not even move in the store. I always have someone jump onto the checkout and hold the spot while I get a few other non-ticket items before getting out of the store by about 5:30 - 6am. Black Friday is pretty big here. The newspaper actually gets the names of the first people on line (at least at Best Buy where I always go) and prints it in the paper the next day. I would go nuts if I was the one stuck outside though. I am very impatient and it would ive me crazy seeing others inside if I was stuck outside. Chances are I'd be allowed in with the first wave though any way since I'm usually in the first 30 on a bad year.
  6. It looks like a "1" but it is very blurry. It could be a "6", not 100% sure. If there are 6 you might get one of them but what happens is, when they run out of tickets everyone is hyped to get a compuer and after staying on line all night they will get the next cheapest. I am not sure how busy your store is but if here are over 500 people on the line even if they change their mind, they will get the ticket while they think about it. In either case you won't get it. Probably won't even get through the first 200 before they are all gone, and I have never heard of any store havingless than 20 people when it opens. As far as the request. If there was a safe way for both of us I would have no problem doing it but I can't lay the money out and I wouldn't expect you to trust me enough to send me the money to get it for you. No, there will not be campers in front by 6am. Usually they just open the doors and let everyone in in 1 mad rush. I heard of a few stories on this site where they had people wait outside until there was enough room but I have never seen something like that before.
  7. First of all there is a chance it might be ticketed since most of the computers are in the stock room and they bring it out for you. I would not count on it being there at 6am. I'd have to look at the ad to know for sure how many are available and how much of a discount, but lot of people that don't get one of the other computers they came in for will often go for the next cheapest until all the onein the ad are gone. As far as the line goes, by 6am I would plan to stand at the checkout a minimum of about 2 hours. OK looked at the ad. $490 of regular price, minimum 1 per store (if I read it right, ery blurry even magnified to 200%). I would say the chances of getting it even standing on the line for under about 10 hours is slim depending on where you live. I should start taking requests for items people want. Not looking to profit from it but I will be there early enough to get anything in the ad.
  8. Dang, I would have thought you would know that football gear and ankle braces were a requirement for BF shoppers, lol.
  9. Wow, thanks. I was figuring midnight Pacific time. I was planning to get up. check the site at 3am EST(ok so now you know I'm somewhere in the eastern US, so much for total secrecy of where I'll be getting on line, lol) and then get on line by 7am - 9am.
  10. That's the biggest problem. They don't give enough specs on the items. In the past they used to tell a little more in the ads. I only hope I get a chance to get off the line long enough to see if the specs will be listed on their site once they post the ads.

    Laptops

Yes they usually are available but they sell out in under 5 minutes. Personally I think I have a better chance waiting in line 20 hours to get the laptops for that price. Most people (dang here goes the secret) will put it in their cart before the sale and refresh until the price changes and then order it quickly.

Most new games require a 64 bit graphics card or better (preferably better, at least 128 bit. The laptop for $229 last year could NOT handle the graphics. I am not sure of the specs on the one this year but I would tend to go for a better one with a better graphics card. For that reason I am going for the $479 laptop, although from the research I have done it appears either the $379 or $479 should work for games. Both (againccording to the research, but since the items specially made for BF there is no telling 100%) seem to have an allocated graphics card that you can adjust from 128 - 319 bit graphics by going into the control panel. I am going for the $479 personally because I can never have too much hard drive space and I know I'm going to upgrade to the 4 gig ram any way if I buy the $379 model with 4 gigs of ram. That being said, the $229 laptop is excellent but weak in the graphics department. For internet and everything else you could think of it is perfect, but it can not play high graphics games. If you look on the box that you received with the games, look at the minimum requirements. Most likely it says 64 bit graphics minimum. That is where they save money and can sell a laptop cheap. Before buying it try looking at the Best Buy site for exact specs for the model they are actually offering, if they give all the info on it. On the other hand, if you are home when they finally post the specs there is a good chance you won't be close enough to the front to get it any way. I would either have someone check the specs and let you knwo once you are on line or ifyou live close enough check the specs when you take a bathroom break. Hope my info helps. The $229 laptop this yer may have a better graphics card but if you go for cheap, while it may be able to play the games you have now, the games coming out next year may require 128 bit graphics minimum and will make it obsolute for your uses, where the $379 or $479 could be adjusted to give you up to 319 bits which should last for at least another 2 years or so.
  13. Never had a problem in the tools department. They are often very well stocked. Sears is usually one of the last stores I hit before heading home since all I usually get there are the tools. I have had issues with the rebates though and will not buy any rebate items from Sears in the future because of it.
  14. TazErase

    Doorbusters?

Not usually. It's all a matter of who has the fastest feet and can make it to the department where the item is on sale first.
  15. I avoid using the Sears credit card since they offer 12 months no payment, no interest, and then try charging me late fees after the 3rd month. I'm also still waiting for rebates from last year that they never sent payment for. I will ony buy from Sears on another card or cash for items with no rebate. If it is a rebate item I will not buy it and I shredded my Sears card. Yes something shady is going on which is a shame since I have always loved Sears, and I'd swear by the Craftman handtools, although their chainsaws suck. Went through 3 of them last year and still couldn't get a working one until I gave up and went to Home Depot.
  16. Sounds like someone got in trouble for putting the items out too soon. Usually they hold the items in storage until the sale date and in the Walmart near me they keep a cover over it until 6am when the sale starts. I hink that the law states that if an item is out for sale they must sell it, although not necessarily at a sale price for an upcoming sale. Since the onlyprice that came up was $0 they could not charge any other price and the item should have been kept in storage until the sale date. I've had similar things happen in the past at numerous stores. If you know the law and either they had an old sale up (unless it states the dates or in BFs case, the times of the sale) they are required by law to sell it at that price.
  17. Could really have gone either way. Good deals to get more people in the store andhope they buy other non sale items, or bad deals since all these retailers lose money on the doorbuster items in hope that they buy enough other items to make a profit. After seeing the ad it seems CC went with the optio of hoping that by offering some good deals on lower cost (and lower risk) items they could get some people in the store. I also noticed the laptop that C has appears to be the same specs as the one BB has for $379, except CC has it for full price of $649, which is the retail price listed for the BB item being sol for $379. If they keep going this way they will be closing another 155 stores in 2009.
  18. I would have just gone someplace else. Too much shopping, too little time. Even when I go to Best Buy, I make sure I'm one of the first on line.hen they open the doors I have someone get right on line to checkout and let others through until I get back with the other items I want that they don't give out tickets for. I'm usually out of BB by 5:30 or 6 the latest and then head to my next stop which is usually either CC or Staples, depending on the deals.
  19. Hard to say. I wouldn't completely doubt it. We are all the die hard BF veterans that the other customers hate because no matter how early they show up we are going to be there before them, lol. I wanted to get on line on Sunday when I passed Best Buy and saw no line and my wife almost hit me (luckily the skills learned on BF, such as being quickest to an item helped me dodge her hand). If I didn't have work and thought that it was necessary to get in line now in order to be first, seriously I would do it. Luckily I know my location and last year the first person arrived at 12:30PM Thursday. The year before was 3:30PM, and the year before that was at about 5:30PM. I plan to arrive between 7am and 9am this year and be the first. Last year I arrived at 3PM and was number 20 which was a little too close to missing some of the items I wanted even though I was lucky and got all the hottest items I wanted. I just don't need to stress about it all night no knowing for sure I am going to get the items I want. At least this year I'll have some company. My wife, sister, dad, daughter, and nephew are all going to be there early too. Unfortuneately they don't let kids get the tickets for the doorbusters. I'd like to replace my older computers with new laptops. At least I should be able to get 2, of course my sister is no help, lol, she wants to get them for herself, the selfish person she is. Won't even wait in line for 20 - 22 hours to help me out., lol.
  20. I doubt it. the 1tb is on sale for $150 I doubt the 2tb will be on sale anywhere for that price. I will pay up to about $180 for the 2tb, then it starts becoming cheaper at other site online and doesn't make it worthwhile to get it at this time. I would need at least 4 of the 1tb to do what I need and I am not going to spend $600 on new drives.

    Laptops

Never say never. If you get there early enough you could have your pick of anything you want. Go get in line now and I don't think you would have too much competition yet, lol. Seriously the first thing that will sell out os the $229 laptop, than the $379 laptop. Personally I plan to get the $479 laptop. Not sure where you are located but you are welcome to join me Thursday morning and I can pretty much guarantee your choice of any doorbuster you want. I got 2 laptops and the desktop last year, all 3 the hottest doorbuster items.

The ad looks very deceptive. It says a minimum of 15 packages per store twice, once under each item. My guess would be 15 of each. It also states 1 per household for each, there too I would think 1 of each laptop package per household of this item. As someone else stated though, although they say 15 per store, there are usually 20 - 25 of each item per store. When they give out these laptops it will probably b 2 seperate people, one giving out the ticket for each, so I see no reason for not being able to get both if you choose, although I don't really need both I don't think anyone would stop me if I chose to get them both.
  23. Same here. I'm actually looking for the 2tb either Western Digital or Maxtor. I was hoping for about $150, but since the 1tb is on sale for $150 doesn't look like the 2tb for $150 is likely.
  24. Your wish will be granted young apprentice Just watch for the additional items posted early next week, there will be at least one more, probably 2 laptops, and probably another desktop.... eept at the store I'm going to :)
  25. Not available for my store. Besides it is only good for 4 doorbusters and if I don't go most of my family isn't going to bother standing on line all night without me.
