  1. CONGRADULATIONS!!! Just don't stick your nose up at us who wait on the lines lol
  2. Great deal. Glad to see at least of the winners are from this site :) I think you might be incorrect about getting 4 of the same items for doorbusters. It states 1 per household. Even though you are a winner they would not allow something that unfair to all the others waiting on line when even the ad states there is a limit of 1 per household.
  3. Yeah I found that out, thanks. The copy I was looking at was so blurry even magnifying it to 300% it looked like a straight line, like a "1". Another copy I found was much clearer and clearly stated "6".
  4. He lives in South Eastern Pa, I know Philidelphia is in SE Pa. which is a large city and will be much busier than Reno. He may even have to get there earlier, I am only going by the times where I go which is also a medium size town with no major cities near by. The nearest medium size city has their own BB and they go to that location.
  5. The busy times are when the most people arrive. A lot of people go to Thanksgiving dinner and then show up on line. That's the crowd you have to beat if you want the ticketed items. If you get there after the first big wave of people show up your chances are greatly reduced. I would recommend getting there by about 5PM.
  6. Based on last year: 6PM - slim chance 9PM - Very Doubtful 12AM (midnight) - Highly doubtful very good chance you will not get it. At about 10PM from my experience is oneof the busiest times for people getting on line. Usually most people will show up at around 6PM, 10PM, and 2AM are the busiest times for people getting on the line (at least here) I would say if you get there at 5PM you should have a pretty good chance of getting the computer you are looking for. You wouldn't get the more popur $229 laptop or $199 desktop though.
  7. What brand 32"? Sounds like a good deal if you don't like standing in the lines. Personally I'd be disappointed if I didn't wait inline on BF for at least 10 hours or more, lol. When you start doint it you get adddicted and look forward to doing it each year. Even ifhey had it for the same price for all the items I wanted and got them all at the BF price prior to BF, I'd just find another line to get on, lol.
  8. I usually stick to Best Buy, Staples, and possibly Circuit City, and few tools at Sears. My wife likes dragging me to Walmart though for the toys. If I had my choice I would stay right at the main shopping area where have all the major retailers except Home Depot and Walmart.
  9. For overall laptop performance, quality, and price I think BB takes the lead with the Toshiba. Most techs or professionals in the computer business would recommend Toshiba rather than an HP. Don't get me wrong, HP has gotten a lot better in the past few years, but Toshiba is the way to go. As far as other items Best Buy has a 1tb External for $149.99, Staples has it for $139.99. CC has a few good eals but nothing spectcular. I may get there after going to the other stores if I have time. Staples has most of the best deals on computer accessories though, Best Buy has the best deals (and more coming) on laptops. I'm lucky though. I can see Target, Staples, Macys, JCP, Kohls, Sears, Best Buy, Circuit City, KB Toys, Dick's Sporting goods, Lowes, as well as others all from the same corner, lol. Only major retailers not here is Walmart (5 miles), and Home Depot (2 Miles).
  10. Dynex is considered a throw-away brand. The quality is poor and in the long run it will cost you more than others. There is a Sharp for $349, 22", I would higly recommend going for the better one now that will last for a number of years, or you could get on line again in a year or 2 to replace the Dynex with another low quality tv. Check the reviews on Dynex. You will see what I am saying. Also ther were people talking about how bad the Dynex blamk dvds were that they instead used them as frisbees. Another one I would stay away from is Element, the Circuit City brand. Stay with Sony, Samsung, Sharp, Toshiba, and for the lower quality but something decent there is always Sylvania. There are a few other good ones but I would stay away from no name brands. Even Best Best employees have refered to it as a throw away that can not be fixed if it breaks and will recommend others. That is not just a way to get you to buy a more expensive one but it is the truth.
  11. Eaxctly. Only about 30 items are ticketed. The people near the back know even before they get there probably won't get a ticket. Some will try cutting the line, others are hoping to find some way to get the ticket, others are there for other items that aren't ticketed. For the most part all computers are ticketed items, and most of the tvs. Besides, when they open the doors they let everybody in at one time. You can not even move in the store. Also they only have about 3 people at the checkout and if you don't have someone get on the line immedately when you get in, you could be on the line for 2 or 3 hours easily. That's also why it pays to be near the front of the line. In the back you don't get the good stuff, and then you have to wait on line for 3 hours. Some will also wait around since whatever doorbusters that were ticketed and not claimed by 12 noon, they will let the people on the line buy them.
  12. If you look at the Best Buy info on this site it stated that more doorbuster items would be added. They will not be n print, you will only find out about them on the BB site Wednesday night or early Thursday. In one of the forums the actual model number of the $229.98 laptop was listed. Toshiba Satallite A(can't remember the rest of the model). They typicaly add about 10 - 15 additional items.
  13. I would say that's not too bad. I believe there were 20 laptops perstore minimum last year. If there were only 10 - 15 people you could have gotten one, but be prepared to go earlier this year. Every year it starts about 3 hours sooner than the year before. Also due to the economy people are going to be more willing to get on line earlier to get the good deals. Last year the first person on line was there at 12:30. I intend to be on line by about 7am, no later than 9am. I am even considering going right after the online sale items are gone and be there at about 1am. My intention is to be the first so I don't have to worry if someoneelse is after the same items I am looking for. Last year anyone that showed after about 4pm was out of luck on the cheap laptops. Also if you get there a little later but still get a shot at a ticketed item have a backup plan of which your second or third choice is. They only pass with the tickets once and if you don't speak up they could be gone to people behind you by the time you decide that you would be ok with that deal as an option.
  14. If you are going to be at a location where you have listed in your description, nope, not gonna be at your location, lol. Heart of Dixie would be a state during the civil war in the south. The heart is often refered to as Virginia. Not in a dixie state, no less the heart of it, lol. Actually, I was talking to some of the people going with me. I was planning to go at 7am, but since I am going to be getting up for the midnight sale Thanksgiving I may get on line at about 1am Thursday. Ha, let's see someone else get there 11 hours earlier than last year. Should assure me first spot in line, then again 7am I'd be first too, and probably by 9am as well, lol. If I get up for the midnight sale I probably won't be able to get back to sleep any way so why not get on line and sit in the car. As long as I have my chairs set up people will respect the position even if I am in the car.
  15. Nah, they will tell you on the 24th. Same here. I start planning as soon as BF ends, lol. It's only once a year that you get the best prices on things. After doing it for so many years you also become friends with the others on the line. It's always the same people that get there early and I look forward to seeing them again this year. The people in the front have an awning overhead and you're in about a 40 X 40 entrance and the first 60 or so canfit under the awning and we set up our own little camp there. After that the people have to stand in a line and the sidewalk next to the parking lot is only about 6 feet wide. We always have fun up in the front but on line it's boring. Of course we usually make our walk to see how far back he line strectches at about 3am and those on the line look at us with envy, lol. They know we are getting all the good stuff that they don't have any chance at getting.
  16. And I'm not really the person you see in front of you on the line, lol.
  17. Where's the fun in that? lol. I get on line at Best Buy at 7am Thursday.
  18. First thing they will want to know is where you saw the ad, since they aren't even delivered to the stores until Monday. I work for UPS and usually deliver them at earliest the Friday before. If you call Wednesday they might be able to tell you.
  19. How crowded? Well at my store which is the quiter of the stores there are probably going tobe about 500 people on line by midnight. I am hoping to get there by 7am on Thanksgiving day this year in order to be the first on line. By noon I expect there will be about 30 people which would pretty much eliminate anyone elses chance of getting the $229 laptop sice that is always the first to go. Everyone keeps track of when the first person shows up the year before and beats that time the next year. Although I plan to be there at 7am I will give my arrival time as about 5 minutes before whatever time the second person shows up so that next year I can be there at 7am and be first again since every year it seems to be earlier and earlier based on the arrival of the first person on line.
  20. Yeah the ad really does stink. Stay away from my store... Although, if you want to show up in the afternoon you will be far behid me, lol. Maybe I should post the announcement that BB has cancelled all their sales this year and see if anyone who was planning to show up at my location actually stays home, lol. I would love to know where some of you people are going to be but I don't expect anyone to tell me. I have to see if the moderators can get me a banner or shirt to wear so if any of you are at my location you will recognize my name on here and we can hang out. About all I have let on to is that I am in the EST time zone, lol.
  21. ROFLMAO. Not even close, lol. We are there all night and a loud cheer comes as soon as the lights in the store come on and the employees enter. If they came in through the front entrance they would get mauled, lol. OK so maybe I'm stretching it a bit, but in any case they enter through another entrance where no one has ever seen where they go in. It's a huge mall with lots of entrances, in fact they open the mall and as we enter before getting to BB is where they give out the tickets for the sale items. As far as living in the hood, lol, not even close. It's a very nice town except for when the trash rolls in from the city nearby and they are the hoods always trying to push past people to get to the front. I believe I said earlier how we make a list. They are the main reason why. The pople that live in the town would gladly line up exactly as we arrived, it's the low-lives that try to cut in. BB knows we make a list now and they will verify that the list is legit and then have the person who started the list read out the names and have them enter in that order. The cutters get real upset with the list since it only has the names of the first 80 people or so on it, and since they show up at 3am trying to cut, they are not on it.

The location I go to doesn't allow tents, open flames, bbq grills, or generators. Takes a lot of the fun out or it but I still go every year. You never want to go alone, it can get pretty boring, although you will often make friends on line. I'm actually looking forward to seeing my friends that I met last year. We are always among the first on line so we all know eachother by now. I go to BF by car, lol. Not really sure what the question meant. As far as when to get there it gets earlier every year, also depends on where the location is. For me, 3 years ago the line didn't start until about 6PM Thanksgiving, 2 years ago it was 3:30PM, last year was 12:30PM. This year I will be there by 7am, 9 am the absolute latest. By next year I will probably be on line by 3AM Thanksgiving day. Depends what time others start showing up this year as to when I have to start next year. I usually figure about 3 hours before the second person gets in line. As I said before though it's all aout the locaton though as well. Some people line up by 6pm Wednesday night. The bigger the city the more people will be there and the earlier. That's how it is at the other BBs in the area. The line where I go is big, but there is one of the others that by 10PM they were having traffic jams because people were going to the mall there and for the most part BB. The other location in the area had a line twice as long as the one I was on, which was about 1500 feet long stacked 2 -3 people deep.

    Laptops

I wouldn't buy a laptop before BF. You waited this long, what's a few more days? No matt how many other deals come up, they won't be as good for the same price. If I see something no problem I'll let you know, but IMO I'd wait.

    Laptops

I have a Dell desktop. They are nice systems but usually way overpriced. Most Dell's come with customer support. For the most part I know a lot about computers and other than hardware poblems didn't use the support much. From experience I can say their drives break down quite frequently. I have gone through 3 hard drives (on my 3rd now), 2 cd rom drives (on my second), and also on my second dvd writer drive. Also on my second keyboard. I have had the computer for about 3 years and I am planning to retire it this year. They were quick to send the replacements which I installed myself but it has given me a lot more issures than most other systems, only it didn't cost me for the repairs. I would say if you need the service it is defineately worth it, if not you can get a cheap emachines that works fine. My 2 year old, now 3, has the emachines and has never had a problem with it and didn't need anything replaced.
  25. lol, yeah I know what you mean. When I came out last year and loaded 3 laptops and 2 of the $199 laptops into my car people were upset seeing that many of them were on line for those items. In fact this one family came husband, wife, 2 sons, and their daughter. They got 5 of the $229 laptops. The looks they got when they came out with their loot was not very nice, lol. Luckily they were behind me and I got mine or I might have been upset too, lol. Might even have hinted to the manager that it said 1 per household, lol. Nah, just kidding about that but I can see why otherswoube upset. All I can say to them though is try beating me to the store next year... hehehehehehehehe :::evil grin::::
