Party pooper, lol. Letting a little surgery take you out of the most important day of the year? I know what you're saying though. I had surgery Monday myself and my doctor won't let me lift more then 10 lbs. for the next 6 weeks. That just means I need re-enforcements to help carry my stuff when I get it though. I was trying to put it off until next Monday so it wouldn't hurt my BF camp-out but the doctor wouldn't wait. I guess he doesn't care that I'm busy this week, lol. Unfortuneately it also means no coffee since it made me so sick when I had some last night, that's going to be the biggest pain unless someone bumps into me (which unfortuneately will probably happen). My doctor doesn't even recommend my going out for the next 2 weeks but that's not happening. In fact after hearing that lines are forming already I am going to be going at 1AM tonight rather than 7AM. Just gotta bring a few barf bags and make sure I get in and out quickly before I start feeling the pain

Rumor is it is a Sony Vaio. I said this about 2 weeks ago that 3 of the secret items were going to be a $229 Toshiba laptop, a $199 eMachines desktop, and a $299 Sony Vaio. :)
-
I wouldn't say it's a big ticket item but it's a good price and I would expect it to sell quickly. I was thinking about a 19" monitor myself but I am opting to buy the $299 system that comes with the printer and 19" monitor. I would say it will sell out by the time it reaches about the first 300 - 400 people on line. If you are not there early any deals that are even decent will be gone. Also if you are not able to get in and have someone get you a place on line within the first 3 mintes or so of the store opening expect to be there for a few hours on line. Last year I was #19 on line and didn't get out until about 6:30.
-
The manager at where I go said he doesn't care about the 1 per household and will give it to whoever is first on line. Also as far as ages he said the rule is 18 to get a ticket but he usually will allow 16 if they have the cash for it. I asked if my 10 year old could get one since she's been saving her own money for it and he said he would check but that if she has the cash she will be given a ticket unless he's told there is an age limit.

All depends on your locaton. 2 Years ago the first person arrived at 3:30PM, last year I got there a little after3:30PM and got the $229 laptop. In most cases they will tell the minimum number they have, but they often have a few more than the minimum. Last year I believe they said min. 15, they had something like 23. If you get there and there are less than the min. avail. it's yours but don't lose you spot on line to cutters. If 50 are there, forget about getting the laptop. I was number 19 last year and the 16th laptop sold (they number the tickets). 90% of the early people are getting laptops, in most cases the cheap $299 one. Of course you always have the few idiots that arrive at 2AM and think they have shot at it, ROFLMAO.

Depends how fast your legs are when they open the doors. Not sure which TV you are referring to, but tvs are large items and the place is so jammed they don't want someone walking through the store with a large tv that's going to get broken. For the most part I can't remeber a tv not being ticketed whether it's a doorbuster or not. Most of the large items, doorbusters, and limited quantity items are ticketed to give everyone a fair shot. Fair is first come first serve, and if you are there at 10AM Thursday there is no reason why someone showing up at 4AM Friday should get the limited items if you choose to get it. The reason I go to Best Buy every year is for the fact that they are fair with the tickets, unlike other places such as......WALMART, where they don't tell whenhe tickets will be given out and last time I tried getting a computer there, 19 of the 40 went to employees or their families. The reason I know thi is as fact is many came over and took off their vest when they got to the line or handed the ticket to someone that showed up.
-
I'll call to ask but now the ads say "1 per household" now so they may not allow it any way. I doubt they will check IDs but under those rules they could actually stop my wife from getting the same item as me as well. I will call them though an find out. Our group is already planning to get 5 of the $229 laptops. If they allow that my sister wants to get one for her son and daughter, and I would like to replace both of my desktops with the $229 laptop and I plan to get the $479 laptop for myself to replace my desktop. Laptops take much less space and have better wireless internet than the Belkin wireless internet adapter. The laptops works anywherin the house, the Belkin adapter sometimes fails even 5 feet from the wireless network router.

That's what my concern is. How are we supposed to know WHAT requires a ticket and what doesn't? Maybe that's the trick though. If we all band together and slow the lines up so much that they all report back to corporate how the system sucks they'll change it back, lol. Actully where I go they don't come outside to give out the tickets any more. Last year they gave out the tickets inside the hallway to the mall and it went much smoother. I asked and they are doing it the same way this year since it went so smoothly and everyone was happy to be out of the cold earlier. Again, part of my recon mission, lol.

The rumor, and please keep in mind, it's only a rumor as to if it even will be on sale, but I heard 512MB RAM and 8GB HD. I believe Acer but again not sure. Also rumored to be $149.99.
-
I'm hoping and expecting at least one TV but I have no info on it. I ran a few items by the BB employee today and he was not allowed to say what was on sale on the online ad (I'm referring to the addtional doorbusters for in-store purchase that will only be listed online) but he hinted that there might be. He also confirmed the $229 laptop whenI told him I already had the model number of it, which I do, but Toshiba doesn't tell the specs for it since it is a Best Buy exclusive made for BF.
-
KMart is open Thanksgiving and has doorbusters a 7AM. Look for it on other sites. Out of respect for this site I am not going to post what site has the ad posted.
-
Gets earlier every year by about 3 hours. I plan to beat last years time by about 5 1/2 hours and get on line by 7AM. I don't expect company to join me until at least 10AM and the top doorbusters will be gone by about 1:30PM this year if everyone comes earlier than they did last year. Last year I arrived later than I wanted (3:30PM) and got the $229 laptop and was #19 on line.

Yup same here. Usually I though it out but this year my wife is going with me so I bought a portable heater. A high of 42 low of 28 last time I checked. There will be times you will question what you are doing on line freezing, but in the end you get what you came for and then you will be looking forward to it again next year. I've been doing this for about 12 years now and each year it gets earlier and I prepare better. This year is the ft for a heater. In the past I'd either freeze or warm up in the car. 12:30 ONLY 80 people on line? Must have been a slow night. I going to one of the slower stores and by 12:30 there are at least 300 usually or more. By the time it opens there are about 3000 people. The line stretches all the way past the Target store, which by the time we get in usually only has about 10 people or so, lol. When they let us into the mall the line stretches from Best Buy on the one side all the way to the other end of the mall and almost all the way back. By that time the line is often 5 wide stretching through the whole mall.
-
Not sure of the specs. In fact it is not even 100% confirmed. It is rumored that there will be one available real cheap. Not sure you really want to get one though, you'd be better ff with a laptop. Netbooks usually have very low RAM and a small hard drive, and no cd or dvd drive. About the only thing it is good for is going online. Any programs you want to install can't be installed from a cd, you have to locate the files onlin and download them onto a hard drive that is usually only about 8GB. They are nice and portable, but will never replace a laptop or PC. I'm going to be first on line and if there is a netbook I'll pass on it. Most people think a netbook is just a smaller laptop. I just wanted you to be aware in case you weren't what a netbook is.
-
All depends on where you are located. Last year the line here didn't start until 12:30PM, the year before that was 3:30PM. I expect this year to be earlier also due to the economy. I expect the line to be shorter, but more people to show up early to get the good deals.
-
First of all to make sure you will be able to get the tickets. They usually won't give it to anyone under 18, unless you look older. I have never seen them check IDs but I heard some places they will ask. Make sure you have friends with you. It gets very lonely although it is very easy to make friends on the line as well. I have made new friends every year. Being only 15 try holding your spot but don't get into a fight if somene tries cutting. That's where having friends with you and making new friends comes in handy. The only worse than not getting the item you want is to not get the item and wake up in a hospital. Not sure how bad it is where you are. It's not like that here but some big cities are. I used to live in the city and there were some real @$$holes that though if they are bigger and they are in front of you, that is nowtheir position in line. If it gets cold, dress warm. I usually have thermals, pants, a shirt, a heavy sweatshirt, a jacket, and a blanket and gloves. I also just bought a portable heater. This is supposed to be one of the coldest BFs in a while. Also bring a chair, coffee, something to keep you occupied, snacks, and scout out where the nearest restroom you can use is located. Any money keep close and on you at all times. Not too much more to tell. If you were older there would be less concerns but being only 15 you have to be a little more careful that you aren't pushed out of the way. Once you do it you will get addicted and probably do it every year, arriving earlier each time, lol. I started out years ago going at 5AM Friday, now it has been pushed back to 7AM Thursday. I might ev go after the online sales finish at about 12:30AM Thursday. I am addicted to being the first on line and won't be happy if I'm the second, lol.

Not sure what's wrong but since I don't want to hear my wife whining all night I just got a 14,000 btu portable propane heater, lol. No open flames so building a fire pit is out, but they didn't say anything about a small portable propane heater, lol. Things I learned from past Black Fridays at Best Buy...... 1) They don't like open pit flames, especially if it comes close to reaching the awning.... Like they really think I'm going to burn the place down BEFORE I get my items. 2) They don't allow tents. They like to watch us suffer on their security monitors and laugh about itand make copies of the video to put on YouTube. 3) They don't like customers bringing their own forms of security to deter cutters. OK, so maybe hiring the armed escorts and having guard dogs blocking the entrance was a bit much, but it worked.... They also didn't like the barbed wire fences 4) If someone does try cutting (like they always do every year), there is always some bigger than them behind where they chose to cut. And they are not happy about being cut. 5) If the wife is cold and complains all night, better to find a way to keep her warm, because if she's not happy, nobody's happy, lol

Just got back from my recon run, lol. Actually the Tom Tom 125 on sale for $99.99 everwhere as a doorbuster, is currently on sale now in Best Buy for the same as their BF prices. No lines, no hassle, no running.... grabbed 2, lol. God thing I went too, they changed the layout from last year. Also as far as the tickets it is pretty much company-wide that they are going to have you tell them what you want. If you say "laptop" you go to the person handling all the laptops and tell them which ones you want. You can get up to one ticket for each laptop (which I had suspected) and as always there is no ticket limit. Much to my surprise they also said they will not be enforcing any selling of the tickets to others on line, and even went as far as to say that it is somewhat preferred since it guarantees the item will be sold and they don't have to reissue the tickets. I still disagree with that but just keeping you all informed as to my recon. Picked up a new propane heater and I'm ready to go get on line now............ OK so I'll wait a little longer before I get on line but I'm set to go now.

Just got back from Best Buy. I actually mentioned it to one of the workers as though it was a known fact and he couldn't come straight out and say for sure, but he hinted that there will be. They know based on what they have gotn into stock and been told not to put it on the floor and put it in the stock room.
-
You're no fun, lol. Some of us enjoy spending the night standing on line. I'm just addicted to getting there first so I can have my choice regardless of whether I know what I want to get or not, lol. My wife thinks I'm crazy but I get an adrenaline rush out of it. Maybe she just doesn't like that I try to drag her along, lol.
-
I've heard it rumored at $150 not $199. Can't confirm it as a fact though. Canon printer will probably be included as usually but I am not going to say 100% for sure unless I know it as a fact. I could find the model number but I already checked it out and it doesn'tppear any place. They are made specifically for BF for Best Buy exclusively so it is hard to get the specs unless they post it when they officially release the info on the BB site.

Same here. We put our stuff away at around 2:30 and usually between 3:30 and 4 they start getting the line in order to enter into the mall where they reset the line as we enter, and they don't let people jump through to the front. We have a list of the first 60 or so people on line since it is by the entrance and it is difficult to make a line from the door and everyone tries to it in the entrance way. We also preplan by having about 10 big guys block the alcove area from the curb to stop cutters from at least cutting in the front. Best Buy knows we make a list every year and they have someone (usually me) read off the list and they enter to get their tickets in the hall leading to the mall. Than we sit for another hour or so. They usually have about 20 or so BB employees handing out tickets about 10 more directing the traffic into the mall area, and when they run out of the tickets they have they also assist in directing the mall traffic and stopping cutters. Also the mall security helps and has about 10 more people just watching to make sure there are no problems. Probably one of the best setups I've ever seen as far as making sure that cutters don't get the tickets or jump to the front. Some have tried various techniques to try cutting and I have not seen it work yet at getting into the front 60 that are on the list. After that it's up to thos behind to watch their own spot. If I see people that do cut in I find the biggest guys behind where they cut and let them know, they usually get them off the line real quickly. By having the list, even if a friend shows up at midnight and tries cutting to get a ticket, they are not on the list and will not get in until after the list is completed. By then the main items such as the cheap laptops and cheap desktops are gone any way, and that's what most of the line is hoping to get if they arrive that early since they are always the first to go. If you are not on line by about 5PM Thursday you have no chance to get the laptop for $229. Last year my daughter was 9 and it was the first time I let her stay for BF. She begged me to go again this year, lol. If I were to line up right now she'd be willing to go with me. Now the wfe... that's another story, lol. She wants to show up at 5AM and not wait but she will be on line with me Thursday morning this year. I forgot about the balloons. Last year was the first time I remeber seeing them use that and it worked pretty good.
-
You heard correctly. Actually $229.98 Toshiba laptop.
-
I'd say get their early. If it's what you've been looking for and waiting 5 months for, what's 1 cold night to finally get it? lol. At least Circuit City isn't as busy as Best Buy. At least you get to have your turkey first before getting on line, lol. I'm planning to roll out of bed and head right over the Best Buy at 7am the latest. Might even pull a double-nighter and go right after the online sa is over at midnight Thursday morning.

I have never gone to Staples first but I am sitting on the $50 BF chair from last year now. I'm not sure which you are going for but I would say either find a camera you like and get it in Staples, or you should be ok to go after Walmart and not have a problem. I went to Staples last year at about 10AM and they still had quite a few of the BF deals available. Most of the BF electronics were gone though.
