  1. I currently have a 42 or 46 inch toshiba lcd dlp(i think) 1080 hdtv. it has the big bulbs, we've had to change it twice. we've had it about 2 years or so. dh wants a new one, he thinks the picture isn't as good, I think it's fine. We'd stay around the same size or bigger depending on the deals on bf. Any ideas or suggestions?
  2. Doorbusters are usually in-store only. Regular sale items are usually available online. I'd check with Sears when it gets closer to BF.
  3. I have front-loaders and they wash a lot of clothes with less water and less energy. You don't have the agitator in the middle, so clothes don't get wrapped around it. You just have to make sure to leave the washer door open when not in use or you might get mold.
  4. We get together with dh's family on xmas eve. If we are hosting, I'll usually play video of xmas's past on my laptop. The little ones get a kick out of seeing themselves when they were younger.
  5. I rated, subscribed and sent friend request. Answer is Craftsman 35 LED Rechargeable Worklight.
  6. And where is that location? Can't find it Disregard, I just saw noehlp's post. thanks! :)
  7. TN only has the tax-free weekend around when school starts, they have canceled the one for the spring. Otherwise, we pay about 9-10% tax on everything but food, the food has a slightly lower tax rate. But we don't have a state income tax.
  8. Hi everyone! I'm Kris, I'm 36 and have been married to dh Paul for over 18 years. I have three teenagers, Ryan will be 18 tomorrow, Dylan is 15 and Allyson (Allie) is 13. The younger two's bdays are in Jan. and Feb., so BF shopping is for xmas and bdays! I live in a little BFE town called Ashland City, TN, which is about 30 min. from downtown Nashville where I work as a legal assistant. I've been coming to this site for a couple of years now and love it! I'm known as the one who finds all the deals in my family. All it takes is some research and a little luck!
  9. I see groups having bake sales all the time, and people selling baked goods at yard sales too. I highly doubt they all have the paperwork you guys are talking about.
  10. Mine doesn't have a theme, it's a bunch of ornaments that my kids made growing up, ornaments I have made through the years, and other various ornaments we have collected and received as gifts (school, tv characters, sports, ect.). It reflects the personalities of our family. :)
  11. I didn't have stockings growing up, only the few times I spent xmas with my father (parents divorced when I was a baby). I remember never being able to get the all the stuff back in the stocking. But I always loved the stockings and have always had them for my kids, dh and dogs. It has taken dh a while, but he has finally gotten the hang of filling my stocking. I refused to buy & wrap my own gifts and fill my own stocking, so that's all he has to do for xmas. This xmas will be the second anniversary of my father's passing, and the best time to remind my kids of where the tradition came from. They are allowed to have their stockings when they get up, but can't get into anything else. Where we have the tree is just outside of my bedroom, so I can hear all their whisperings of "oohh, look at this", "this is cool", ect. and they don't know I'm listening. I think that's the best part of xmas.

    The teens

I think DD will get a camera, DS15 already has one (he has a fridge too). Gas card would be good for the oldest. Thanks for the ideas!

    The teens

There is tons of ideas on things to get the younger ones, but what about the teens? My kids are 17 (will be 18 b4 xmas), 15 (turns 16 two weeks after xmas), and 13 (will be 14 in Feb.). They already have a PS3, Wii, DS, and PSP, they're not interested in Xbox. They all have mp3 players. Two will get new cell phones (contract is up 12/21, talk about perfect timing!). Two have their own computers and there is another computer for everyone to use. Besides clothes and a few video games, what else is there to get?
  14. Go here: http://www.woot.com/WhatIsWoot.aspx it should answer all your questions.
  15. I grew up in a large italian family. Christmas is for the kids. The adults would draw names so every kid would have a present to open. I tried to do this with dh's sibliings one year, (he is one of 7 kids, and there are 14 nieces/nephews), they all agreed to it, but some didn't hold up their end. It's just too expensive to buy for everyone, and they adults generally don't expect anything. It's more about the magic for the kids. Instead of buying presents for the adults, maybe you can make them some cookies or pies or whatever you like to make. It doesn't cost as much and is more likely to get "used".
  16. I agree. I have a 17, 15 and 13 year old. The two oldest (both boys) spend their time on the PS3, playing games that take a lot of time. Me, dh and the youngest like the Wii. We can play something for any length of time we want and have fun. The PS3 and 360, imo, are for the more serious gamers. The games aren't geared toward young children or adults who aren't gamers. Although the two oldest do like to play the Wii too. If you can get one now, do it. They are still htf and the price won't be coming down, there is too much demand and not enough supply for them to drop the price. The other two systems are trying to compete.
  17. Eve, People might want to include any food allergies or other types of allergies so they don't get something that makes them sick.
  18. Ok, I'm going to defend the WM cashier, as I am now one. WM is my second job, as it is for many. I just started working there in June, so this will be my first holiday season. As for knowing where everything is, it's not going to happen. When you get to work, do you walk the whole building and then go to your desk, area, whatever? I don't think so. WM cashiers go to the back to clock in and go up front to the CSM to find out what register to go to. We don't program the machines, stock the shelves and they don't give us maps of the store. All we can do is scan your items and try to get you out of there as soon as possible. So please be understanding of all cashiers at all stores that would rather be in bed then at work that early in the morning dealing with many rude and impatient people. Patience and understanding on both sides of the register goes a long way.
  19. I puchased Mario Strikers for the Wii and Assassain's Creed for PS3 from the CC BF ad online. These two games, along with a few others were bunched together and it said you would received a $10 CC GC with purchase. I received the GC for Assassain's Creed but not for Mario. I called CC and told them and was told I would be receiving it in about 7 days. Now I got a message from them saying the deal was valid for BF and Green Saturday (that's a new one). Since I bought all my stuff online from the BF ad, at BF prices, what's the deal? Has anyone else run into this?
  20. I'm getting a little worried. I received two packages from CC on monday, but nothing since. The packages I received are split orders. When I check my account it says the packages I received were shipped on the day I received them? The other package was shipped on 11/23 and has not been received. I'm worried it may have been taken since they have the contents listed on the outside of the package.
  21. Now that's an idea I'm gonna have to try!!
  22. I got two shipments yesterday and had the exact same label on the outside (different items). I couldn't believe it either! That has to be the stupiest thing I have ever seen. I have been trying to call CC because I bought Assassian's Creed for ps3 and Mario Strikers for Wii, both are supposed to come with a $10 CC gift card. I only got the card (email version) for Assassian's Creed, but never got one for Mario Strikers. I called yesterday, got some foreign guy who didn't understand what I was talking about and transferred me into the automated billing system. Now when I call I get "we are experiencing technical difficulties so try your call later". This has been since yesterday afternoon. Why do they have you press 1 for English and then some person who barely speaks English gets on the phone?????
  23. My ds17 has been trying to get a job at our local Walmart for the past two months. He calls just about every day and talks to a hiring manager. He always gets "I haven't had a chance to pull your application". A girl that now works there called for three months straight before they finally told her when she could start. It shouldn't be that difficult to get a job. You would think they need extra help this time of year and would want to get people in as quick as possible!
  24. what time can you get the doorbusters on BF? Can you go to a supercenter at midnight and get your items and checkout? Or do you have to wait til 5am?
  25. That is BS, they sold your computer 45min after opening? it takes that long to get through the checkout line!
