Just in time for holiday cooking! http://www.shopworldkitchen.com/default.asp

I don't keep track either, just try to keep it even with the three kids. They get razors, shaving cream, candy, chap stick, pencils, lottery scratch-offs, cd, maybe a hat or little stuffed animal. So whatever all that adds up too, lol.

How do you handle gifts for siblings w/ larger families
princez916 replied to leefamily23's topic in 2009
I wouldn't worry about "how it works". It's your money, you can do with it as you wish. It's not for her to dictate. She'll have to get over herself, and if she can't, it's her problem, not yours. You have to do what you can afford to do. If she measures your love by the amount of $$ you spend on her kids, then she's got issues. As long as you're getting them something they want and will enjoy, the amount shouldn't matter. -
I believe they are usually $60, so that's a good price for a Sony PS3 controller.

Years ago dh and I were lined up outside WM (it wasn't a 24-hour store). The store finally opened and we got what we wanted. On the way out we were behind this person who had a big tv box on the cart, trying to get it to their car. I knew it wasn't a good idea. Dh and I looked at each other, waiting for the inevitable. Sure enough, they hit the edge of the parking lot and the box flew off the cart onto the ground. It wasn't a good sound. They must have been a bf newbie -
I'm kinda stumped too. DS19 isn't a kid anymore and dh and I agree we need to cut back on the amount we get him, but don't know what to get him! lol DS16 will probably get a laptop, he's got my old one but likes DS19's laptop (which I got for $299 at WM last year). Maybe get him an itunes and Hollister gc. DD14 wants a laptop (not sure if she'll get one yet) and a new mattress. Yes, she has so much she asks for a mattress for xmas. Needless to say, Xmas will be much smaller this year than in years past!

$200 per kid??? wow! I spend about $50/kid for the ones in my family (there are only 3), and last year I tried to keep it at $10/kid for the ones in dh family (there are 8). My brother and sister get stuff for my kids, dh's family doesn't do anything. My opinion is you get them something that they will enjoy, regardless of $ value. If you find a great deal on something they really want, do you go by the original price or what you paid? If your sister doesn't understand the need to readjust, then that's her problem. Do what is within your limits, you have your own family to think about. -
Thankfully I have BF and Xmas Eve off. I'm trying to get the whole week of Thanksgiving off.

I got a $299 laptop from Walmart on one of those deals for my ds. He's still using it and it's still working fine.

Twilight "Edward" shirt
princez916 replied to Great Dane Mom's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
Yeah, my dd13 is quite obsessed too. She has one Twilight shirt, which I bought for her at Hot Topic after we watched the movie (which wasn't until after she finished the 1st book). Of course she wants everything Twilight now. She is on the 3rd book. Reading this series is the most she has ever read. -
Dh and I went to see that last year. We loved it! We wanted to take the kids this year, but couldn't afford it. Maybe next year.

I have never expected my children's teachers to give them gifts for any holiday, and the majority of them don't. There have been a couple of teachers through the years who have given the kids a little gift bag with some candy and maybe a pencil. Usually they organize a gift exchange between the kids. One year it was a puzzle exchange, another year it was ornaments, and another year the girls bought a girl gift and the boys bought a boy gift, I don't know how she passed them out. I know teachers spend a lot out of pocket for classroom stuff, I'm sorry you feel obligated to buy gifts for all your students.

lol, you're not supposed to tell!

My SS gift arrived yesterday, but the mail carrier put it in my dh's truck. Dh discovered it when he left for his friend's house last night and called to tell me it was there. I think he just wanted to torture me because he knew he wasn't getting home till late so I wouldn't be able to open it until today. So I opened my box this morning and I have to say, I have THE BEST secret santa!! My santa gave me all kinds of different goodies. I had Lindor chocolate truffles, Giradelli (sp?) chocolate and peanut butter squares, Godiva Chocolate Creme coffee, two candles that smell good enought to eat , a penquin coffee mug (which I'm using right now) with lots of cappuccino and hot chocolate mixes inside, three penquin hand towels (that are currently hanging on my oven door), lavendar soap and lavendar bath salts, a container of gourmet hot chocolate (plan on trying it this weekend), a pair of blue slipper socks that have the little puffy balls (like my technical term? lol) dangling from the top, and even a tube of chocolate creme (I think) lip balm! My dh was in shock as I kept taking item after item out of the box. He said "holy crap!" I think he's jealous because my secret santa did better then he does! THANK YOU, THANK YOU to my secret santa. You truly made my xmas. :gdclap:The thought and care you put into someone you don't know is amazing.

That's just ridiculous! Are they trying to buy their kids grades or something? I don't buy for teachers, I have 2 kids in high school and one in middle school which makes for about 15 or so teachers. I can't afford that.

Need ideas on how to "do" Christmas for a two year old.
princez916 replied to arf110106's topic in 2008
Welcome to the community! I think you should do whatever you want. It is the time for you to start your own family traditions. Maybe you have some favorites from when you grew up, maybe your dh has some favorites too. Find the combination that works for your family and as the years go on, explain the meaning of xmas to your dd and explain where your traditions came from. You also might want to wait on putting the presents under the tree, they will probably be opened before xmas! lol At my house, Santa brings one special gift, the rest are from mom & dad, siblings, pets, whatever, the kids don't really care (mine are all teenagers now). At your dd's age, I wouldn't go overboard with presents, but decorate till your hearts content! Then sit back and enjoy the amazement on your little angels face. :) -
I tried that, didn't work. We moved from upstate NY to TN. I thought how wonderful it was to be away from the in-laws, then they all followed us down here.
