Most of the Wii games will be fine for 7 and 8 year olds. It just depends on what kind of games they like. Next time you're in Walmart or Target, stroll over to the video game case and take a look. It will help give you an idea on what to get them.

I agree. I have the Wii and PS3. The Wii is fun for all ages and has a lot of different types of activities and games. There is something for everyone. The PS3, IMO, is more for gamers. My two teenage sons love the ps3, dd13 plays the wii. She only plays guitar hero on PS3 (we don't have it for wii).

I'm lucky to work for a great company. We get a bonus and a nice gift card. They are giving our bonus to us the day before Thanksgiving this year so we can use it on the BF deals. Last year we didn't get it until the middle of December. I've got most of our shopping done, thanks to this site. So it will replace what has been spent. With dh out of work, it's saving xmas for us this year. I'm very thankful for my job.

My dd13 said something about no santa and I told her if she didn't believe she wouldn't get a santa present. She kinda doubted I would take it away and then decided she didn't want to take the chance. My older two, ds15 and ds18 know better than to say anything.

At my house Santa only brings one special gift, the rest is from mom and dad. I'm not sure how you do it. Kids understand more than you think. I think if you tell them Santa brought them "x", whatever it was they wanted the most, and let them know times are hard for your family right now and you just don't have as much money this year to buy presents. Maybe remind them on how they get little presents all through the year.

I grew up in an Italian family and when got together on Thanksgiving the adults would draw names, and if someone was absent they drew for them and let them know who they got. Each kid got one present when the family got together on xmas eve. There was a limit of course, but I was one of the kids so I didn't know what it was I tried to do the drawing names thing with dh's family one year, there are 13 nieces and nephews, it didn't work out too well. Some of dh's siblings didn't do their part so my kids went without. It made me really angry because their kids all got many presents (even though it was only supposed to be 1 per child) and mine just watched their cousins open things. If they couldn't get something, they should have told me and I would have brought something and said it was from whoever, so they weren't left out.

We had a big fight about it this morning. I'm so tired of this crap.

I have the same problem with my inlaws. They have come over the last couple of years after they have eaten dinner somewhere else and come eat a second dinner and have dessert at my house. Then they want to take more home. My dh never says no. It really irritates me. I always look forward to my BF turkey sandwich and haven't got to have it the last two years. This year his SIL invited herself to spend Thanksgiving with us. It wouldn't be so bad but it's her, her bf, their 4 kids, and her nephew! Oh yeah, and youngest brother is living with her so he's coming too! They plan on coming Wed. night and leaving Sat. morning. I don't have room for all these people!!! We tried to get out of it, but she didn't take the hint. Talk about rude!!

I have two nephews and two nieces with bdays in December. I am guilty of wrapping bday presents in xmas paper. My younger son's bday is Jan. 7. We usually put off his birthday for a few weeks to give people a chance to recover from the holidays. Although the trend lately seems to be the kids come over for the birthday and don't bring a present. Not that it's all about getting presents, but I never send my kids to a party without a gift. And if they've been invited to a party that we can't make, I send a gift anyway.

Do you have it on layaway at Kmart? If so, they will do a one-time price adjustment. I have the trampoline on layaway and they have it $50 cheaper in the BF ad, so I will have them price adjust it and save myself some $$.

I would like to get dd13 the pink camera for $69, but don't want to wait in line for it. Anyone know where I can get one for about that price? It can be any camera brand, as long as it's pink and at least 7mp. I would also like the monitor deal. I think I can order that online, but the camera is a db.

The point some of us were making is that even though they are only supposed to sign up for one program, some sign up for many. Like what a PP was talking about with the person bragging about getting over $800 worth of stuff for each kid because she signed them up for all the programs. While we want to help make sure a child doesn't go without on Christmas, these people are possibly denying another child from getting chosen because they are signing up for multiple programs and being greedy.
