Since I just got asked to cook Thanksgiving dinner for my relatives, I will be in Anchorage Alaska again. As we only have two stores where I live, and as my nephew says, "My quickie marts are bigger than this." It always is nice to fly into town. This year I will be using my new pilot's license to get myself there.

Sports Authority usually does a good sale on Thanksgiving as well as Black Friday. I believe they have a coupon that gives a discount off of most things in the store.

This is the biggie for me. I know that if I use a card, I pay less attention to what I am spending. I do use cash on Black Friday.

I just checked with my sister and she said her Walmart still has these in her store.

That would be Far East I get points from the north too. One of my libraries is on Diomede Island about one mile from the international dateline.

I have a great idea for a contest, who ever comes from the most northwestern or southeaster location to shop on Black Friday. I will be watching for contests as I know I want a t-shirt.

For the iPods I would look at apple.com I always get my iPods engraved with the receivers name on them. This isn't to stop the giver from giving it away as much as it is to save them from a brother or sister appropriating it.

The best way that I do Black Friday shopping started when I got a large enough group to hit more stores earlier. The next generation started joining us a few years ago. We divide the stores up by who wants the most from the store. We all give our lists to that person. We will meet at 3 am at Denny's to eat breakfast and exchange lists. We then meet at 8 am at my SiL's house. We divide the purchases and make payments where money is owed. Then anyone who wants to go out and pick up things that aren't as critical will go out together.

Good book ideas: Diary of a Wimpy Kid #6 in this series comes out November 15th. Mo Willems has a new Piggy and Elephant book coming out in October. Goliath a new book in the Leviathan series just came out last week. I am getting request for all three of these books from different libraries that I manage. I love the idea of giving a new book for a Christmas present.

I went to a local business last year on Saturday and found that they had done their specials on Friday. Pay attention to the stores ahead of time just like you would any other store.

I have been singing "Santa Baby" for a month. I bought my hubby some land and he says that it is just that I expect a duplex for Christmas in five years... Hmm, he is correct.

Have you thought of going to a local credit union to see if they have a 'no fee' checking account that you could sign up for.

I got to WalMart at 11:45. It was way too crazy. I don't think I have ever left a BF sale with nothing. Worked that way tonight. I like the early morning openings better. Too many kids at the store just to add to the crowd.

When it got to this point in my family, we just started going somewhere else for Christmas. My mom talked about it years later, how sad it made her that we would choose to leave town rather than attend a family Christmas. Hmm, do something about the smoking, drinking, and cussing and maybe I would have wanted to hang around.

I vote with this.

Why is getting a blu-ray that important? I am not being critical, I want to get this too. I just don't know if the picture is worth buying a new toy. Please let me know if the picture quality is really worth a new machine. Thanks,

Costco usually puts these on sale too. I was happy to get mine at WalMart last week, but I am hoping to get some of the sets of 15.00 cards to use as giveaways at work.

Thanks Brad, I have to agree with the other posters who have said, "Now it feels like Christmas." I didn't realize how much I was missing a big store ad until I got this today.
