  1. I am in. I advertise the website anytime someone comes to me for advice on where to buy something. I also would love to purchase some shopping bags. Anchorage, Alaska just went plastic free and stores charge us 10 cents for a paper bag. Black Friday should be fun.
  2. Amazon does have these now.
  3. Socks, socks, and more socks. More online this year as we have lost several stores in Alaska this year.
  4. Wow, Good to know new things to buy. My goto buy is socks. Fred Meyers has them for 50% off. My boys (now in the thirties) knew back in elementary school not to ask for socks after October first, I was always going to say they needed to wait. Are the Field Crest sheets flannel? I may need some of those. Darla
  5. I used to go to a book conference. I would line up three-four hours early to be the first on in. One year a woman came up and sidelined to be first in. I pointed to the line. She ignored me. My son went up to her and said, "It may not mean much to you, but my mom was her for three hours and if you don't move back in line, I will have to hear about it all day." That was the key. She moved back in line. Great film clip. Mandy Patikin with line cutter.
  6. Wow, Someone who really knew how to provide customer service.
  7. Please make your own cranberry sauce. If you have a child 3 years +, they can help with this. It is on of the best cooking experiences because simple ingredients, big change in what finished product looks like, and short cooking time. Can/should be done a couple of days in advance so all ingredients can meld and less of a stress on the day of the dinner. I try to have a time that nephews can come over to my house the weekend before Thanksgiving so that each can make/help with a dish. Darla
  8. Thumb/flash drives and wireless computer mice are great stocking stuffers for the adults on our lists.
  9. I am thrilled to be signed on again. Darla from Alaska
  10. 16 years olds who drive can always use gift cards for gas stations.
  11. A few years ago I was diagnosed with a disease that prevents me from donating blood. My niece and son decided that donating a pint of blood for me is a gift that I will always love. I hope this is an idea that some of you can use. Darla
  12. Brad, When will there be more people posting in this forum? Just thought of a new question instead of when will it open. Have a great January
  13. I wouldn't know how busy WalMart thinks they were. I refused to shop there until later in the day on BF. I wanted a set of sheets and I did get those.
  14. Dash in as people are working at avoiding the perfume samplers. Great idea.
  15. I think I am changing my strategy this year. I have nieces and nephews that want to join in on the fun. Instead of BF breakfast being where we hand out store to get to, we will move it to Thanksgiving morning. We have always met up to plan then anyway. Nieces and nephews are night people. I am definitely a morning person. While we won't all be out at the same time, we will be on the same quest. We will meet up again for brunch on Black Friday and divide up what people were able to get from the different stores. Trying to turn the store openings into an advantage.
  16. I thought about keeping things on my iPad, but I don't think I want to take that into the store with me. I will have my phone, but I often forget to look at it before leaving the store. I love my notecards.
  17. Use the comparison charts in the tools section of Gottadeal if you are looking for something specific. This makes it easy to compare where you may want to get different items.
  18. In Anchorage, Alaska our Thanksgiving Day paper is always twice the price as a normal daily cost.
  19. If anyone can answer berry's questions, I would love to see the answers. My hubby and I joke about getting one of these due to the cost of heating with electricity. I think it would be great, but would have to convince him that it was worth it.
  20. I love Fred Meyers on BF. It was the first store that I ever went to on a BF. Based on my past experience you can expect, 1/2 off on Socks and towels, slippers, robes, cold weather accessories, Buy one get one free on games i/m me if you would like a previous years advertisement. They don't change much from year to year.
  21. This sounds like a hubby that everyone needs.
  22. Thanksgiving morning 9:00 Start Turkey, make sure all cold items are finished 10:00 Prep items that need to be cooked, but do not start cooking. 11:00 Family breakfast at Denny's We will have at least two papers as we have learned, that I may already have the information -- But I don't share well. 3:00 eat dinner, others clean up. 5:00-3:00 am People are allowed to go wherever they want. Younger family members will hit the earlier stores. We all buy for each other. 3:00 Breakfast at Denny's 4:00 Hit the stores. Do not whine about being hungry if you are with me. I have offered to feed you earlier. This is the day that I become the most militant, but my family is very loving and allow me to do it.
  23. Our cell phone company has all phones free on Black Friday. You have to sign up for a two year plan, but no extra cost for the cell phone.
