What stores will you be shopping at on Black Friday?
Iliveforblckfri replied to mcwalker's topic in 2011
Fred Meyer's is always a store that I go to. I have been shopping on BF for 22 years. My sons learned to not ask for new socks in October. They will be half price at BF and we stock up. -
Black Friday Newspaper where do you get yours? any stories?
Iliveforblckfri replied to totallyBF's topic in 2011
I want your paperboy. I would tip well for that service. I am lucky enough to always wake up exceedingly early and hit the stores before others for three papers. We have two shoppers in my family and one for everyone else. I did notice last year that the price for Thanksgivings Day paper is the same as the Sunday paper. -
Best give away that I used that I think people would purchase is a good small flashlight. The cost was 3.50 with an imprint on it.

Flux capacitor is available, but unfortunately it is at a store that won't open until 5 am BF. Shhh!!!! This is highly secret information Darla

Walmart Black Friday ad to be released tonight at 12am ET (9pm PT)
Iliveforblckfri replied to ytmomof4's topic in 2011
One of the best reasons to find the ad on GottaDeal is the list. I love that part. I also love the fact that I will see the ad before anyone at work, oh yeah, they don't really care. Still fun for me. -
Working on my Black Friday shopping spreadsheet....

I am always doing this. I am happy they build a CVS in Anchorage so I have more to look at. Glad I am not alone. -
Working on my Black Friday shopping spreadsheet....
Iliveforblckfri replied to brinak2005's topic in 2011
I am holding onto the thought that 11-11-11 will be a banner day. I would love to see them earlier, but this gives me three days until I will be saddened by the lack of ads. -
Official Black Friday TABLET & E-READER Discussion Thread
Iliveforblckfri replied to Brad's topic in 2011
I got excited about this until I realized that you can only borrow one book a month. Amazon Prime doesn't work in Alaska so that isn't a plus. If this program allowed you to check out as many books as you wanted, but only one at a time... I would pay for the program as that amount would be worthwhile to me. One book a month, not a chance. -
I am thinking along the same lines. Part of this is that I noticed a different type of person out when the store opens at midnight than when we are there up early in the morning. Last year the number of people who had partied well before going to Walmart was interesting.

The rule that my SiL and I hold to is that we have to send off the rebates on the day we shop. She is great at it and will keep me honest about getting it done. Otherwise, I would forget them and kick myself later.

I bought my son two or three different mp3 players when he was in high school. They got broken in different ways. He didn't want an iPod product so I held off giving him one. Then I got one as a prize, I let him try it out. The next morning he was walking around saying "12 hours of music and the battery is still going strong." My nephew at age 14 told me that his music was too important to be on a shuffle, where it plays in any order. He needed at least a nano.(Yes, I laughed at this).' After dealing with dropped mP3 players, I found the the iPod line worked the best for teenagers. Darla

Like tdanette said, I like to be a part of the madness... My favorite part is telling someone where they can buy a toy cheaper than they are spending and help them save money. -
You have the secret. As you learn of deals for Black Friday, let others know. Share your information of gottadeal.com with others. I just had the business manager in our office tell someone else that I am the one to talk to about shopping on Black Friday.(They will be in town too.) I am never short of people who want to shop with me on Black Friday. Good luck

I hated the "Shop While You Wait" from Walmart! Am I alone in this?
Iliveforblckfri replied to maguszxz's topic in 2011
I only went to Walmart at midnight to provide a chair for my son who was waiting for a 42" television. Most of the items you could shop for had been picked over and I knew then that Walmart would not be on my list for the morning. Of course, I did have to go to Walmart to pick up my son with his TV. -
My SiL and BFF will definitely be with me. Niece, nephews, and sons join in for their favorite stores with a list from us so we can hit a few more stores with less effort. Everyone has breakfast at Denny's at 3 am (Paid for by me.) so that no one can complain about being hungry.

I didn't like the Walmart one last year. I really didn't know how it would work last year. This year, I am in a better position to set up for what I might want. It will require teamwork if there are big things that we want. I did notice that it became more of a party atmosphere last year. More people who wouldn't have normally been at a Black Friday event were there. I just know that I want to get into a store, get my stuff, and move on to the next. Midnight openings do not seem to help with this. Darla Darla

Any ideas if Walmart will be having another "secret sale"?
Iliveforblckfri replied to princess7794's topic in 2011
I asked about this one on Monday(10/24/11) and no one in the electronics department knew about it, but they also said that they don't usually find out until they get there. -
The outlet is in an outlet center near Disneyworld. Darla

A few years ago my 22 year old son didn't have anything on his list and I was bugging him for a gift idea... He asked for a "Tickle me Elmo" I purchased on at the local used item store. We added the letters E - M - O for him so he had an EMO Elmo that would laugh at the right time.

There is a Disney Outlet store close to DisneyWorld. I also purchased Disney items at the local Walmart when I was in Orlando. This may help save money while in the area. Darla

Citi survey reveals how consumers plan to shop this holiday season
Iliveforblckfri replied to Brad's topic in 2011
I don't think the discounts will be high enough for people who haven't shopped before to be out at early hours. On the other hand, I know we grow every year so it will be interesting to see what BF brings. -
No Walmart legal letter yet... update 10/19: it's here

Is commenting that you haven't whined for a shirt a ploy to get a shirt because you are being really really good. Have a great day -- From someone who has whined for a shirt. -
traveling on thanksgiving to get back home on time for BF

You are talking about saving 20 dollars on 1,000 dollars of purchased goods. If there isn't another reason to go to Texas you will use that much up in fuel. Good luck
