  1. Last big thing I bought on BF was a Poloroid TV from WalMart. It was 600.00, I believe this was in 2008. As I went to the car, I kept saying "I could die a happy woman now." Nope, I need to get home to watch this. While, this is normal price now, before the BF the best price we had seen was 1100.00 DH and I agreed when we originally saw them for 10,000.00 we would buy one when it was under 1,000.
  2. First year out was 1988. My kids at a very early age learned that if they needed socks after the first of October, I was going to tell them to wait until the day after Thanksgiving.
  3. I bought GottaDeal shirts for all four of my relatives/friend that join me for BF. I am hoping to remember to take them to the town that I shop in. Last year, I did a great job buying but not a good job delivering. This year I am going for a group picture.
  4. Not for BF but another event I go to that has line jumpers. One year we had a line jumper when I was first in line. I had been there for four hours by then. The woman didn't listen to me, but when my son went up to her and said,"Excuse me mam, but it may not be a big thing for you, but if you don't move I will have to listen to my mom all day." Then the woman moved back in line.
  5. We bought a nice popcorn popper at Fred Meyer's on BF, last year. It was 50 percent off. Sorry, I don't remember the maker of the popper. It is one that looks like a theater popcorn popper, just a bit smaller.
  6. Last year I used Yankee Candle coupons with the Bed, Bath, and Beyond 20% off coupon to get my candles even cheaper.
  7. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I thought you were saying that BF didn't exist in the 90s. I remember getting in a car wreck at 5:30 am and continuing onto Fred Meyers for my first BF in 1987. No one is saying that opening up for BF is hurting people's family time. It is the openings that are growing earlier and earlier each year. When I started going out, 6 am was considered opening early. Then we moved to 4 am, midnight, and now 8pm for a larger and larger number of stores.
  8. 1988 The first Walmart Supercenter opened in Washington, Mo., combining general merchandise and a full-scale supermarket to provide one-stop shopping convenience. The term “Black Friday” was coined in the 1960s to mark the kickoff to the Christmas shopping season. “Black” refers to stores moving from the “red” to the “black,” back when accounting records were kept by hand, and red ink indicated a loss, and black a profit. Ever since the start of the modern Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in 1924, the Friday after Thanksgiving has been known as the unofficial start to a bustling holiday season. If you were at a Supercenter, you were there on a Black Friday. You may just not have been aware of it.
  9. Yay BoPeep, this has been my thought since I went to give my son a chair at a 24 hour WalMart when he was waiting for a TV that would be onsale at 5 am. The people I saw were a lot ruder than the ones I met at 4 am the next morning.
  10. One this to remember as we get closer to Christmas, if you need something as a gift, the free shipping items are at the bottom of the queue for Amazon to work on. I had a book that I chose free shipping on. If I had paid for shipping, it would have gone out the next day. Since I chose free shipping, it didn't leave Texas for a week. Just a note of caution.
  11. Early, cold, long lines, Hanging out with relatives, Have fun all day long.
  12. So happy to have the .pdf. Thanks for uploading it. Somehow a file of ads just makes BF seem closer.
  13. Help, I can't remember where to go to download the ad? Thanks
  14. We just hit Target last weekend. Little Slinkies made their way into the cart. I am not sure what else as it was my job to stay with great nephews while their mom bought some stuff.
  15. Note to self, Let hubby know now that Vinyl tile will not make a good present for anyone.
  16. I noticed Freesia's and changed mine to my favorite Disney character.
  17. Anchorage, Alaska. Traveling to be with family, but also with stores. Somehow the 600 sq. feet in retail space where I live, doesn't do that much for me.
  18. My spouse is the same way. He will join me but only if I have something I really need him to do.
  19. I am hoping for the Target lady to be back.
  20. No matter what is on the front, I love the back saying "If you can read this, I probably got your doorbuster."
  21. This is the perfect end to a day that started with the first day of school.
  22. I love some of my family on holidays and not so much others. One year I asked my hubby what he would like for Christmas, he replied that he wanted to take a car trip with our sons and just escape. I put the motion to the boys. Give up Christmas presents and get a four day vacation with mom and dad. (We were camping) or stick with what we had always done. They voted for the camping trip. I returned their gifts and used the money for gas. It was the best decision we made. This continued for five years. Sometimes you have to remember, family is great, but we are great too. If you need a break, take one. As far as messaging on FB, I leave my computer on all the time. If someone messages me, they don't know if I am on my computer, working somewhere else, or asleep. No one gets offended if I don't answer. Good luck
  23. I have to agree with this. I was thinking of getting one for my nephew and then thought better of it.
